During my yelping years since February 2011, I had reviewed some of its businesses including Smiths, China Go Go, Starbucks (out of business) and McDonald's with the contiguous trails.       The Paseo Verde Plaza is a Smith's-anchored shopping center that includes China Go Go, Fantastic Sam's, Southwest Medical, Port of Subs, Chase Bank, pet supply store, and other businesses. It sits off one of the most peaceful Interstate 215 exits and is in the picturesque community of Green Valley Ranch.    I appreciate the charmingly landscaped grounds and the extraordinarily spotless condition of the shopping center that looks much newer than its twenty plus years of existence. The landscaping incorporates wide setbacks of golf course green grass interspersed with palm trees that distance it from Valle Verde Drive. At the southeast corner there is a very serene outdoor patio that bridges the shopping center to the Green Valley Ranch community and trail system. Up until the time that the Starbucks abutting the Plaza closed in 2020, I delighted in hours here reading and writing under the Nevada sunshine in the company of a statutory turtle and hippo.   Moreover, I appreciate its connectivity to the outdoors. This is the only Southern Nevada shopping center that I know of that is connected to three trails. It is connected to the I-215 Eastern Beltway Trail at the north and the Paseo Verde and Amargosa Trails concurrency at the south. When I hiked round-trip between Green Valley Ranch Resort on solely the Paseo Verde Trail or in conjunction with the I-215 Eastern Beltway Trail, this has been a halfway stop. Additionally it is across the street from Paseo Verde Park where I have enjoyed a few China Go Go picnics.    Another thing I like about the shopping center is that it feels like a relatively close walk to all the businesses. The shopping center is not overwhelming.    Regardless that I am a fan there are a few challenges. The parking lot is cramped. Especially when a delivery driver or vehicles lining up for the McDonald's drive thru block the main drive. A stop light at the Valle Verde exit would be beneficial. Additionally the shopping center has lost a few good businesses such as Starbucks and a breakfast restaurant.     In closing I give Paseo Verde Plaza four stars. I am a fan of a few aspects that make it an enjoyable place to visit. First is its connectivity to three paved urban trails. Second I am a fan of the landscaping and the way it blends in with the surrounding community. Third I am a fan of the general laid back vibe along with the perception of it being safe on account of the area and spotless condition. Fourth I am a fan of the fact that I can visit Smith's, restaurants, and other businesses without feeling rushed and overwhelmed. Fifth, I am a fan of the fact that I can take out Chinese food, Port of Subs, or McDonald's and within a few minutes enjoy a picnic at a shady picnic table in Paseo Verde Park. With that said, I give Paseo Verde Plaza Four Stars.

McCarran Marketplace is a sprawling complex of shopping centers, pads, and big box stores bordering…read morethe east periphery of McCarran International Airport along Eastern Avenue from Patrick Street to Russell Road. On some flights departing McCarran International Airport it is the last thing that people see before setting off for the friendly skies. Below the friendly skies most people see its giant asphalt sea by means of Eastern Avenue. There are at least four entrances from Eastern Avenue including the signalized ones at Patrick Street and Oquendo Road. The McCarran Marketplace asphalt sea is so grand that it is approximately a half-mile one way walk between the Walmart Automotive Center to the Starbuck's.    McCarran Marketplace serves the role of a regional shopping center much like Eastgate at Sunset and Marks and Eastern Beltway Center at Eastern and Serene. Since the shopping complex opened around 2006, I have patronized it. I will go into more detail about this shopping center.    The way it is laid out, the power center stores are nearer the airport. From south to north they include the Walmart Supercenter, Petsmart, Office Depot, Ross, and Lowe's. Amungst them is a Dollar Tree. Throughout the shopping centers and pads fronting Eastern Avenue are the restaurants excluding the McDonald's in the Walmart Supercenter. From south to north they include Peter Piper Pizza, Del Taco, Farmer Boys, Firehouse Subs, Jamba Juice, China Dragon, a Hawaiin restaurant, Carl's Jr., Port of Subs, and Starbuck's. Joining the restaurants in these shopping centers and pads are the services including Bank of America, AT&T, a Verizon authorized shop, Eastern Hills Dental, Fantastic Sam's, and other businesses. Throughout the years I have spent time in many of these places and reviewed a few.    What I like about this shopping complex is that it is less congested and easier to exit than many regional shopping centers such as Eastern Beltway Center. Thanks to the two signalized intersections at Eastern and the indirect one onto Russell via Surry Street, it is generally a breeze to exit the complex. Another thing I like is that there is sufficient empty land allowing the complex to grow. As I write this review there is a sign at the empty lot on the northwest corner of Eastern and Patrick saying "For Lease." Will this be Las Vegas's newest Raising Cane's, Chick-fil-A, Burger King, or Dunkin Donuts? " Speaking of growth when so many shopping centers are suffering, the only vacancy I am aware of here is Payless Shoes. Now, what I dislike is that there is poor pedestrian circulation between the different components of the complex. For example when I walk from Walmart at the southwest corner to Starbuck's at the northeast corner there is a lack of a crosswalk or traffic calming device at Oquendo Road which cuts through the shopping complex causing an asphalt divide between Dollar Tree and Lowe's. To exaberate the situation there is a blind spot where Oquendo Road curves. Once you cross Oquendo Road, there is a vast Lowe's parking lot and another shopping center road to cross. There is also a want for a walkway and crosswalk between Lowe's and the shopping center at the northeast corner by Russell. The poor pedestrian circulation is also evident between the Walmart and power center strip and the Eastern Avenue facing shopping center by Oquendo Road. If I want to walk between Walmart and either Firehouse or China Dragon, I am left to cross a curving shopping center road with a blind spot and no crosswalk. Obviously McCarran Marketplace was designed first and foremost for the automobile and not the pedestrian. The upshot is that an automobile is more preferable when combining two businesses spread across the shopping complex. Especially in the summertime.    Only a few hundred feet and over the fence from where commercial airplanes take off on a McCarran International Airport airstrip, convenience and shopping take off in McCarran Marketplace retail strips. And before I take off, I am giving the McCarran Marketplace four stars. It's selection of stores, restaurants, and services and ease of exiting safely onto Eastern Avenue with its two traffic signals makes this regional shopping complex worthy of four stars and return visits.

If you really need to spoil those you love they have an In and Out burger too. Let the animal adventures begin. One thing that the parking lot is lacking is safety. While many cross walk are identifiable and signs are visible many drivers do not seem to stop or acknowledge these signs. As a driver we sometimes get lost in the confusion of our day and our own lives. We must be vigilant to ensure not to cause accidents because we are paying attention elsewhere. We all have our lives that we must live, but make sure and ensure that we take into account others individuals safety. It's an average Friday night, you have errands to run. You should always be aware of what's right around the corner. At any time someone can come right out in front of you disrupting their lives and yours. It takes two seconds to slow down. My son Connor, was the casualty of such a terrible tragedy. While out being a young adult visiting his sister in this parking lot, he found himself at the crossroads of a crosswalk where two people made irresponsible decisions. As a pedestrian you are a moving target. On this Friday even, a young mother and her two children struck this boy leaving him going to the hospital. My sons accident is not the first time that a young child went to the hospital because a driver struck them. We all need to be vigilant in our pursuit for getting all our "stuff" done. By slowing down and not speeding can ensure the enhancement of someone else's life. You only have an hour to complete your tasks, if you strike someone you will be delayed even longer. It takes two seconds to stop at a cross walk and wait for the person to cross. We live in a digital realm that sometimes it's hard to focus on reality. When driving, just drive. Focus on the road and all that is around you. Be careful not to injure or interfere with someone else's quality of life by taking away their advantage or ability to perform their daily life activities. Connor will heal in time. This rang his little bell but did it really have to happen. Life lessons are lessons to be learned. Be aware that you never know always give the right away to those that are walking, biking, and scooting along.

The stores we visit the most: Dollar Tree, Big Lots, Cost Plus World Market, Ross, Target, Kohls, and Baskin Robbins. But we are now big fans of Grocery Outlet. If you download the APP, you will get $5 off your $25 purchase. We usually go to Dollar Tree every weekend, and every DT store's inventory varies. I was looking at the Big Lots markdowns, but no crazy ones here. We were lucky that when we visited, it was the afternoon, this past saturday, so we got some shade and relief from the "unofficial" summer weather.

Some places that have already opened here are Fat Tuesday, Arte Museum, Museum of Illusions, and Ocean Prime. This review is based on 63 Las Vegas' valet service. My mom and I were going to the Arte Museum located nearby, so we chose to valet the car at 63 Las Vegas rather than self park over at Aria. The valet rates here aren't all that terrible, unless there's an event going on, it's $45. Rates are only $25 in between 0-3 hours and $35 for 4 hours and beyond. The service was very friendly, very quick, and very efficient. When it was time for us to leave, we put the ticket in the machine, made the payment, and the car was brought back to us instantly. If you're going to the Arte Museum or Museum of Illusions, I suggest valeting your car here at 63 Las Vegas. It's super easy to access both museums, and the entire shopping complex in general, from the valet area.

In the past I've tried Roberto's at Harmon Square, the food is okay if looking for a late night snack but honestly, there are other restaurants nearby that open late too. Also, I noticed a new restaurant is being added to Harmon Square, called Bojangles Las Vegas. The signage is so huge, it's hard to miss and they specialize in southern flavor chicken, biscuits, and breakfast. I'm not exactly sure when doors will open but the signage says "Opening Soon." It's nice they're easy to find, you'll see them across the street from Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
