I've had ESVR as a manager for rentals! They are unresponsive. They overcharge fees for cleaning after my Maid already cleaned. Would not reimburse me for expenses for damages done by their client and then kept half the money. I will be filing a lawsuit. Please do not let this company manage you home. read more

For anyone considering ESVR as a management company, I want to share our experience. We had numerous lease violations this summer. Some resulted in property damage, and others involved over-occupancy that ESVR themselves pointed out could put our Short Term Rental License at risk. In our view, these issues were not addressed to our satisfaction. We are no longer using ESVR as our management company; as such, I requested the return of our house key. After several weeks, I have not received the key or even an acknowledgement of my request and will now need to pay to change the locks on my house. read more

It takes forever for someone to return your call. When you ask questions they don't have answers and tell you they will follow up. Days & weeks go by. Emails & phone calls do not get returned. Very poor customer service. I tried renting through them several times and the instead rented directly through home owners. read more

The expensive Easter shore rental, Clearview, weekend was ruined by bad water. Water that smelled so bad we did not want to take a shower, wash hair, as the smell of sulfur was so strong. Draining the pipes was suggested and that did not change the water. ESVR offered to purchase the water we drank. We are familiar with well water that is contaminated, usually coliform bacteria. Unacceptable to rent out a home that has contaminated water. read more

My family stayed at an ESVR property, and the communication was horrible. We were sent a code to enter so thought the property was ready for us, instead we waited for two hours for the cleaners to finish. On top of that the grill was filthy, no brush to clean it with and no propane. The trash outside was overflowing. There was mold on the walls and the refrigerator had someone's leftovers and was dirty. Repeated calls and messages were not returned until Monday, and the only solution was them giving me a small refund for not leaving a bad review. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! read more

Really awful experience renting from this outfit. Do yourself a favor and stay far from them. Find another way to secure your rental. They were so unresponsive when we arrived and had no access to the house we paid for, that we were calling local hotels looking for alternate lodging. We though we got scammed, and we kids did. When we finally got access, we found the place not as advertised and ESVR did not remedy anything, except dropping off propane for the grill which was the least of our concerns. I have been renting through Eastern Shore Vacation Rentals for several years. However, their customer service clearly changed. Last August 2023 I tried to rent a property for 3 weeks in June 2024. I was told they would need to check with the Owner. ESVR never got back to me. So...I sent them an email asking them to send me a contract for the three weeks in June I requested so I could finalize a reservation. No one answered my email... ever! Because they were my go to vaca rental company for vacation rentals for several years, I called again in January 2024 and said I was having a problem selecting a property on the website for the weeks I wanted. I kept getting an error. After a chat with the Agent, she agreed to send me a link, that afternoon, to properties with the features I was looking for so I could make a final decision on a rental. I received no link, no follow-up phone call. Just not the way to do business. I never write bad reviews because I always give people a second chance when things don't go right. But... in this case it is time to move on to a company with good customer service. read more

There were some changes since I rented the property from ESVR last year. There was a hiccup with getting my pass code for the lock box this year, but everything worked itself out in the end. This is the first of two home rentals that my friends and I have said we'd go back to every year if we can. This is the second year we've been to this home, and I would share the name with you, but I don't want it rented out when our schedules permit us to get together. Sorry. We stayed a place called the "Oxford Oasis" it was nice update and clean place. Right on the water so it was beautiful and the place had so much stuff there to use. Kayaks, paddleboards, bikes, ping pong, pool with stuff, full stocked kitchen and more. This was a great weekend trip. The company was very nice to us and would def go back. The one weird thing was there were no curtains on any of the windows, very little way to get privacy, there was a bathroom window near a kitchen that made me a little nervous lol read more

WORST SERVICE EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD We attempted to book a property through ESVR for this upcoming Labor Day weekend. We were provided a quote via email to which we responded in the affirmative that we wanted the property and asking how to finalize the booking. We received no response for two days at which point a representative called and left a message, we called back and got a voicemail and sent an email asking someone to call us. There was no further communication until I called a full 4 days later and was told that, despite all of that communication, they had never taken the property down from the online booking portal and someone else had rented it. They kindly explained that it was my fault for expecting them to respond to email during normal business hours and refused to cancel the other booking. If you care about customer service - or common sense - RENT WITH SOMEONE ELSE. read more

We have now rented two homes through Eastern Shore Vacation Rentals. This first was "Oxford Oasis" which was lovely. The pool and property were very well maintained and we had a wonderful experience. We were so excited to return to the Eastern Shore this week for our second rental. We then rented "Town and Country" which was a disaster. The property clearly had not been taken care of. There were ants in the kitchen, spiders and cobwebs in the bedrooms and broken furniture. Previous rents items were still in the drawers. The gutters on the house literally had weeds growing in them. The pool did not look well maintained. The TV also did not work. Upon notification of these issues, Eastern Shore did attempt to take care of them. We appreciated the responsiveness of Bryan who sent a cleaning crew right away and was very communicative. The cleaning crew was here for 8 hours cleaning the interior and exterior of the home - which we appreciated, but also indicates the level of filth in the home. When the pool company arrived Monday morning we were informed that was no chlorine in the pool whatsoever. So clearly, no one was looking after this rental. We lost 4 days of being here dealing filth, no TV and an unsafe pool. The fact that my children swam in the pool before we realized the significant issues with its cleanliness still keeps me up at night. After discussing the issue with a customer service person named Jodie - whom i was told was high in management - we did receive a partial refund. Given the extremely filthy condition of the home and pool - which was a health risk to me and my family, a partial refund was simply not adequate. We found Jodie to be terrible to work with - she was incredibly rude and did not return phone calls. When my phone calls were finally returned, she subsequently hung up on me. In the age of covid we expected the rental agency to live up to the terms of the contract and the home and pool would have been properly cleaned.Clearly they don't take customer service seriously. Save yourself the health risk and trouble and NEVER rent from these folks again. read more

We rented from Eastern Shores Vacation Rentals for many years. The first few years were great when we stopped by their office in Easton and left with a bag of sundries and a Smith Island cake. There seemed to be a human touch which was much appreciated by me and my family! And then the service went down hill every year. We no longer picked up keys at the office but got an impersonal text. Each subsequent time, the houses (we rented Town and Country which seemed quite dilapidated even though the rental rates were high) seem to be less well cleaned and were missing pillows or linens or had broken furniture. The smelly kayaks had holes and barnacles growing inside them. The pier was all busted up. And they did not fix anything! This will be the last time we will rent from them. read more

Avoid using this agency! We rented the Oxford Oasis, lovely property! This agency is inept. No sheets, no towels, one roll of toilet paper for a place with 7 SEVEN bathrooms. Took 5 phone calls and 3 1/2 hours to get sheets and towels. Response regarding toilet paper, "you are to supply your own toiletries." I get that but one starter roll for 7 bathrooms, you must be kidding. We paid $800 plus per night and they blew us off when we complained. Said you didn't read the entire contract. I love VRBO but this agency is HORRIBLE. Try and find a property not under this agency! read more

The house is terrific, very clean, updated, bright and airy. The back yard is spacious enough to throw a ball for the dogs to fetch, it was perfect. The location is a short half of a block from the main street, giving you access to all of the shops and restaurants. I would definitley rent here again! read more

We've stayed this specific location several times, and very much enjoy the quiet of the location. The property manager said the location's main house was having "some work" done, but did not lead us to believe that there would be two large piles of dirt directly between our back door and access to the water. Come Monday construction equipment rolled. They were regrading the property, plus doing work around the new pool. Literally driving circles around the house we were staying in. At one point my son and brother were outside attempting to play baseball, and my brother was almost hit by a dump truck. I attempted to contact the property manager by email, with no return, until after speaking with the property owner. The property owner and I had a productive conversation and as a result left this location to go to another one of their properties on Tuesday. Their willingness to help come with a solution makes me feel guilty about writing this, but the property managers lies and behavior should be acknowledged. When he finally got back to me, the aggressive tone in his email really upset me. Plus, he indicated that he was fully aware of the situation at the property, and that he shared that with us. No, this was different than "some work" on the main house. Do to a booking issue of having us check out on Thursday instead of the full week we planned, I had had a number of conversations with Jim Campbell from Eastern Shores Vacation Rentals. I had even asked if we could get a refund to allow us to book elsewhere, he never directly said no, but deflected and said I'm sure we can find a solution. Ultimately, I found a solution by finding a place to go for the last few days, but not the relaxation vacation I had wanted. Plus, after speaking with the property owner, it would have been their preference that the property not be occupied that week. If feel the property manager was looking out for his own interest and profit and did not care about us having a good experience or what was best for the property owners. I hope the owners severe their relationship the this crook. Update: Debbie L., I believe the information you were told is inaccurate. We did wish to celebrate my son's birthday on Thursday, the location was not specifically important. What was important, was that we not have to travel 8 hours home that day, and preferably not travel at all, so that we could enjoy our family time together. I 100% was not offered a refund, which I was disappointed about. Given that our vacation was going to be cut short, I quickly jumped on the HomeAway site and found a few different places that would have been to our liking. However, we needed a commitment to a refund for that to have happened. I absolutely asked if a refund was an option, and although a clear no was not given, a clear yes was certainly not. Which forced us to move mid-vacation, a thing we wished to avoid. Through additional communication with Jim, I was really disappointed at the tone, that made it seem like this situation was my fault and he took zero responsibility. I would have initially been satisfied with a sincere apology and some ownership of the situation, but honestly feel at this point the only right thing for your company to do is offer a refund, rather then a discount for future a booking. read more

I stayed at Carpenter Alley in Saint Michaels this past weekend. It was a wonderful home with everything we could have possibly needed. The staff at Eastern Shore were very responsive to inquiries throughout the process. When we discovered one item we needed that wasn't in the home they were quick to send that item to the home. We would definitely recommend the agency as well as the property. read more

I am completely dissatisfied with my experience with Eastern Shore Rentals. My family paid a large sum of money for a long weekend rental. We requested early check in 7 months prior to the rental date. Given that our rental is in the off-season, we were told that this would be fine as long as no one had rented the house for the week leading up to our rental. Fast forward to about 4-5 communications over the 2 weeks leading up to the rental, each time the rental office confirmed that yes, we could have early check in as the property was vacant for a week. The day before our arrival, I received an email stating otherwise. The explanation was that the owner decided to have some work done on the day of our arrival, and their property manager didn't know. That was it!!! So many issues here. 1) why did the owner choose this date when it would clearly inconvenience their tenants and they had AMPLE time to do this work sooner 2) why was there such a lack of communication between owner/property mgr/rental agent 3) how UNPROFESSIONAL 4) literally no apology was offered nor acknowledgement of the massive inconvenience to us, the tenants, many of whom planned flights across the country according to their original confirmation. We will not rent form Eastern shore again and would encourage others to save themselves the trouble. This has certainly put a damper in our excitement for this trip, which was greatly anticipated for many months and no small expense. This is the type of business practice that gives companies a bad name. No accountability to your customer equals no more customer. read more

This was such a beautiful and perfect setting for our friendship retreat. The six of us had plenty of room and privacy,and the views were spectacular. Evenings were spent lounging in the spacious living area and listening to gathered geese. We had a fantastically equipped kitchen. Would love to return in warm weather! read more

Stayed in properties rented thru ESVR for 3 years.....first year they made the reservation for the wrong year.......found out only because of my confirmation call on the way there! They secured another property for us which was nice BUT not what we had reserved, or thought we reserved. Second year was fine, third year, they failed miserably. Want to do all business via email/text. Do not expect customer service . They also took away free linen service during the off-season this year, BUT their own APP still portrays free linens with house rentals as well as a second website......they failed to honor this despite my pointing it out to them. IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY YOUR VACATION I would suggest finding another agency. read more
