I attempted to replace the rubber seal on my backwash valve and ended up breaking off the handle since it probably hasn't been lubed for some for a few years. I reached out to Robert and he was able to come to the rescue after I got off of work to replace the backwash unit. He quoted me a good price to replace the valve not knowing how challenging it was going to be to remove it from the filter. Robert spent a good amount of time and effort to replace it and I assumed he was going to add onto the quote since it was pretty much double the work. He didnt! He kept it flat rate! this is a one man show. There may be other businesses in Chula Vista, but believe me, you will be paying for their overhead and not getting the service Robert offers. At the other business I asked the person on the phone "if he sold a certain pool pump, he said "the pump I was looking for is an commercial pump but had a "better" model number at obviously a more expensive price. When I told him about a better price I found,his response was "that may be good for the customer, but not for business" WOW!! Robert on the other hand, went the extra length to make us feel comfortable with the purchase on the pool I was looking for and kept in touch with us making sure everything is OK. The icing on the cake: Robert gave us the same warranty on labor as the warranty that came with parts for the pump. Months down the line another piece on the filter broke called up Rob. This review is for Eastlake Pool Service's installation chops, not pool maintenance (they just installed my pool equipment, so I have no experience with their maintenance). This is my first pool so I have little basis for comparison, but this was a personal recommendation from a friend of mine, which adds credibility. I'll try to update the review after a few months of their maintenance service. Rob (owner) is AWESOME: super chill, down-to-earth, approachable, responsive, and patient. (I am NOT easy to work for: I'm picky AND frugal.) Rob and an associate installed all my pool equipment (I bought a foreclosed home; all equipment taken by previous owner). My pool took almost a year to get plastered (plaster guy's fault), but Rob installed the equipment right away, making several trips without complaint because I didn't have everything he needed. Then He waited months for the plaster guy to plaster the pool so he could start up the pool, then kept contacting me over the last 2 months so we could get together to set up the pool automation because I was too busy to meet up. He went out of his way to come on a Saturday, so yesterday I finally met him. He was amazingly patient while we struggled to set it up (weak wifi signal), and again while I worked out my wifi issues (I had to reboot my network equipment twice). Once we were connected, everything worked right out of the gate, and now I can control all my pool equipment (pool pump, spa jets, pool/spa heater, pool/spa lights, "one touch" macros, etc.) from my iPhone/iPad (Jandy iAqualink via web and iOS apps) or any web browser! Thank you, Rob! If you have any issues or problems with Eastlake's service, call or email Rob, he'll make it right. (Rob does have employees that help him service the pools.) We've owned a salt water pool for over three years and wanted to ensure our pool was in working order (water chemistry and pool equipment). We hired Rob to come out and do a pool inspection for a house (Short Sale) we just bought to find out the ground truth for where the condition of the pool is. First, he forgot about the appointment and came after we called to remind him of the appointment. He later came and gave us his opinion of the pool, which he was pretty knowledgeable but a little on the un-professional side. He quoted prices for repair and really didn't leave me with a positive impression of owning a pool. He was quick to list the negatives, which I was expecting since the pool is over 15 years old, but all he did was give me the "doom and gloom" news that my pool needs to be replaced, tile was falling off, the pool company that built the pool is out of business (not the case), etc. To top it off, his final written report was about a paragraph of his findings and estimates. Not helpful at all. In his defense, we did not hire him for his pool cleaning service, so I cannot answer how that service is. Based on his inspection, I do not feel he is the guy to earn my business for pool cleaning service. Maybe it was an "off" day for him. read more
