Best tenderloins around! On Fridays, the reuben sandwich and the fish sandwich are BOTH delicious!

Stopped in on a road trip and got the tenderloin strips and fried green beans based on a local recommendation.

Others at my table said their food wasn't quite what they expected/hoped for. It was hectic because we were there for the Plattsburg Historic Holiday Homes Tour, so the servers were rushed, and they were out of some things, including the free "starter" item the homes tour gave us a coupon for. The bright side? They substituted a DESSERT!! Yay! Either banana cream pie or tiramisu (not an item I would have expected at a burger joint/cafe), but neither was homemade. And although we asked if there was any chance they would run out of either, and our server said " no chance," they ran out of the pie. With only 3 pieces left for 6 of us, 3 had to go with tiramisu...both choices were good, but not great. I would might go back to Plattsburg just to drive around to see the many, many historic homes, predominantly fancy Victorian style. But I'd eat at a different restaurant. The architectural treasures may be a well-kept secret, as none of us homes-tour-and-historic-architecture junkies knew about them or about Plattsburg's rich history before learning of the tour. Ask someone there what was discovered about one of their famous, never married, supposedly childless forefathers at the town's first big reunion when many ancestors got together!

I never should have listened to those who are not fans. My husband got 4 twisteds--2 chicken and one of each of the other flavors. They were all so good. And the fresh fried chips were delicious too. I got the fried swai. My husband is not a fan of fish but he kept stealing bites off my plate, it was that good. The batter was light and crisp. And the portion was huge. I LOVED the honey mustard coleslaw. I'm a slaw snob, and I have high standards. I look forward to eating the slaw again. The garlic Parmesan broccoli was good too. We will be back.

All their food is named after musicians. I had the Hank Williams hamburger, with spicy bacon jam, Cheddar cheese, and a couple of fried onion. The burger was delicious, the bacon jam not overly spicy for me but worked well. Great burger. Came with seasoned fries, also quite good. They brew some of their own beer, which both my friends and I thought they still had a little ways to go to perfect that. I had their Irish Stout which wasn't bad. A little more bitter than Guinness but ok. Definitely great food for a bar, and their craft beer will get there soon. Parking is around back.

The pistachio cranberry bread was inspirational--a couple of people said they were going to try to make it. The melted chocolate truffle was amazing, as always. My very favorite was the white chocolate mousse--the dot of raspberry sauce was delightful. The mousse was light and airy but also rich and decadent--and my last bite had a white chocolate chip. That was the perfect ending to a perfect lunch. And the coffee, as always, was SOOOOO yummy. Thanks JC Wyatt for accommodating our special Christmas luncheon celebration!

Luckily, that is where the JC Wyatt House comes in. Not only is the food top rate, but the entire experience is amazing. At the JC Wyatt House, you have dinner in an intimate, small dining room inside a Victorian Mansion. Here is how it works. They are only open on Thursday and Friday, 1130am to 1230pm, for lunch and Wednesday thru Saturday, 530pm to 7pm for dinner. Reservations are required and you will choose your main entree for all of your party when you make your reservation. We went for our wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. We arrived a few minutes before our 6pm reservation and were seated. At exactly 6pm, our server, Chris, started with our choice of hors d'oeuvres. Either a potato and fresh vegetable soup, or shrimp cocktail. My wife had the shrimp, and I had the soup. Both were outstanding. For dinner, I had the lamb, and my wife had the filet mignon. Both came with potatoes, carrots and a roll. Again, both meals were outstanding. We finished with a dessert trio that was amazing. Besides the fantastic meal, the service was first class, and the ambiance was really special. This is a must visit for an amazing meal. Call today and get your reservations.
