We keep driving by this. Hard not too notice when you see the Mystery Machine van parked along the road. So we finally did. I ordered the Holy Cow burger. Been wanting something with jalapenos. All the toppings sounded pretty good. Not sure if there was too much going on. I dont remember any pepper jack cheese. Very light chipotle mayo taste. But a good juicy burger and messy. We got a side if onion rings with some goop sauce. Not quite sure what the rave is about the goop. It reminded me of something in a potato salad. Like a mustard mayo and relish sauce. We also got small shakes. Very good. The cherry one I ordered had small bits of cherry that clogged the straw. No complaints. Just real cherry bits. read more

Debated whether I wanted to give this place a try after receiving 10 tater tots for $5 on my last visit. Pulled up in the outside lane in order to not stick out in traffic. Literally sat there for 9 minutes before I was even greeted. 7 cars were helped before me. When an employee finally came up to me I politely declined my order but let them know that I would not be ordering as I was ignored for several minutes. There's something really cool about drive-ins. They are a rarity anymore. The Big Tom drive inn up in Olympia RULES. Especially for breakfast, that's where it's at. Their menu is vast and has something for everyone including vegetarians. They even have a gluten free bun on the menu. Me, I'm not interesting in some vegetarian BOCA patty or the gluten free bun but I'm glad they have it for others. Fork over the bacon burger with cheese please (no onion), or the Chicken sandwich. For breakfast, I'll have the Glazed and Confused, which is a glazed donut sliced in half packed with a grilled egg, cheese and bacon. How's that for a diet killer? They have milk shakes that come in almost every conceivable flavor. I had the hot fudge shake for breakfast with my Glazed and Confused breakfast sandwich. Yes, I am sure I gained several pounds as a result of that poor dietary decision and I would do it again only next time, I think I'll try the marshmallow milkshake and the Heart Stopper breakfast sandwich. We came for the dinosaurs...but stayed for the burgers! What a fun place! Read about this in the paper and then made a point to stop on our way to visit the capital. It did not disappoint. This was an interesting and unexpected fast food experience. I wanted to grab something in the area and yelp had sent me to Eastside Big Tom. But when I parked on their gravel parkway, I wasn't sure to expect when I saw a sky painted house with a pterodactyl. If you parked at that lot, you pass a raptor and dinosaur-themed sitting area as you head towards the drive thru. I ordered a chocolate shake, an order of fries and their bacon burger. I think from the three items, I was surprised, again, that the fries were my favorite part of the meal. They were perfectly crisp and came either their trademark sauce, goop. I can't say much about the shake (chocolate shakes need to use chocolate ice cream) and the burger (aight). read more

My kids love this place! They are fast, efficient, reasonably priced and delicious. I don't get why anyone likes this place. I've eaten here several times and had different items. All of it sucks except for their shakes are really good. Room for improvements include: 1.) their fries are terrible. They are the cheap krinkle-cut, school lunch type. 2.) way too much sauce on the burgers. 3.) inconsistent portions. Sometimes the burger is this tiny little thing, and I get a huge amount of fries. Another time, I got a burger with the standard amount of trimmings, and barely any fries. 4.) too much emphasis on the "look" of the place, specifically their plywood cutouts, but don't have much to offer as far as food goes. 5.) I am assuming that, like other fast food places, the employees are underpaid. That is just an assumption but probably a 99.9% correct one. Don't waste your money! read more

It is the best burger place EVER, and I have been to a lot of burger places. It even beats Wahlburgers in Boston. Wahlburgers may have spiked milkshakes, but doesn't have the charm of the friendly dinosaurs populating Eastside Big Tom. Besides, Eastside Big Tom makes better milkshakes, with or without the booze. Stopped by for a shake today. I've been here before for burgers and they were great. Today I got a Root Beer shake. Super tasty! I love root beer floats, so this was essentially the same without all the foam. My other half got a chocolate malt and it was delish too (I snuck a sip, haha). They run it quite efficiently. There was another car in front of us, but someone came out of the building to take our order, then collect payment, then again to deliver the shakes. We then were able to drive around the person ahead of us, likely waiting on a larger food order. This is a great place to pull in and get something quick. It's also nice on a clear day to take a break at their picnic tables and enjoy the scenery! read more

I've only recently discovered Big Toms, and I'm HOOKED! For our family of 2 we can be well fed (with leftovers) for about $20. Which isn't bad, especially considering the super fast/friendly service. Juicy, delicious burger. The goop was delicious for me. What tasted like mustard, Worcestershire sauce, pickle juice, and a few other ingredients. I ordered a Dr. Pepper and they recommended a Dr. Pepper shake which was even better! The fries were crispy and delicious and even better after dipped in the goop. Service was great and friendly. I loved the the whole ambiance of the restaurant. Cool dinosaurs, cutouts, and a great vibe to the place. My family has a tradition of stopping at Eastside Big Tom on every trip between Seattle and Portland, and we always make it a point to come hungry. As a pescatarian, I opt for their Fishwich (light on the "goop" - a delicious mayo relish with finely chopped pickles), which is served crispy and hot. Super crunchy but the batter they use is flavorful, crisp and light. I jumped into our visit with the van/choc twisted cone, I didn't share much of it... lol... I'm from Texas... and loyal to Whataburger!!! So I spend a lot of time hunting a burger that can compare. I am not a fan of "California Style" burgers... I detest caramelized onions, and think thousand island dressing sucks - no matter what you call it. So I saw a magazine review on Facebook for great burger joints in Washington, and happened to be in Olympia for work. Yelp added to my intrigue with so many good reviews. Their claim to fame is "Goop"... and it's certainly not Thousand Island Dressing !! It's a mustard based sauce that made me think of deviled eggs- minus the egg. It is pretty darned good. The service was impeccable and super fast. I was disappointed in the size and quality of my meat patties... but they certainly weren't bad... Onion rings are typical frozen Sysco beer batter rings.
