The lattes were excellent too--everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and definitely worth the visit. That said, we came on a Sunday in the late morning, and it was very busy. We waited in line for quite a while before ordering, and since seating is limited, we also had to wait for a table to open up and quickly grab it when one became available. Parking is limited as well, and street parking can be hard to find during peak times. One thing that could make the experience even better would be having separate lines for to-go orders and dine-in guests, especially on busy weekends. My coworkers and I got together for the summer and one of them suggested this place. It sounded intriguing so we agreed to go. There are a few things to consider when coming here. Parking. There is a parking lot, but it is tiny and seems like it's always full. Plan on street parking in the vicinity. They are busy (long line out the door) and there are limited seating. You wait in line to order first and the area leading to the counter is tight so people do a u-turn to get back out the way they went in. It was also very muggy this afternoon and they only had a fan running inside so I was sweating so much. It was not a pleasant experience. There's a small bar area to the right and a few tables that are oddly placed behind the nook of the doors. It's got a cute country meets beach city vibe and the decorations inside reflect that. There is more seating outside, but like I said, it's kind of limited. We luckily got a table after about 4-5 minutes, but we were kind of standing near the trash can for a bit trying to figure out what to do. It's a very tiny space/lot and with how popular it is, it's too cramped for me. With all the cyclospora stuff going on, I'm very hesitant to eat out lately and if I do, I stick to all the fried foods. I ended up getting their popular Hawaiian Cowboy Latte (iced) which was good, but the walnut milk was unexpectedly thick/decadent. I normally drink my coffee black or I do cold brew, but it has honey too so it was sweeter. I think it was too much milk for my liking. If I went back, I'd prob try their affogato. That sounded good too. I also ordered the campfire french toast. It was good. In hindsight, the coffee plus the sweet french toast was too much sweet in one sitting. It was still good and I finished it. My other coworkers got an avocado toast and the trojan horse bowl. Those looked good too and they enjoyed it. Overall, it was good and the ambience is nice, but it's overpriced for what it was. The parking and lack of seating is definitely a turn off for me. Seating: After ordering, you're given a table number and find your own seat. Seating is limited, so you have to keep an eye out for tables opening up. Wait Time: Be sure to listen for your name to pick up your drink at the counter. Your food is brought to your table. My friend ordered a salad, which came out pretty quickly. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries, and it took almost 30 minutes to arrive. When the staff member brought my order he said, "Sorry it took so long," acknowledging the delay, but nothing was done to make up for the inconvenience. Quality of Food & Drinks: The drinks were good, as usual. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The salad was way too spicy, and the chicken sandwich had much more fried batter than actual chicken. Customer Service: Customer service started off well but declined throughout the visit. It was difficult to find someone to ask about the status of my sandwich. After it finally arrived, I asked for utensils, which took another five minutes to receive. I wanted to order another item to go, but when I asked a staff member, they said, "The line looks long, so it might be a while." I asked if it would be another 30-minute wait like my sandwich, and they responded, "I don't know. Are you sure you waited that long?" I confirmed that I had. I then asked if there was any possibility of a refund or some type of accommodation for the extended wait. They said they would get a manager, but after waiting another five minutes and no manager ever came, I decided to leave. Overall, I was disappointed. I ordered the Hawaiian cowboy and my boyfriend asked if they had a drink and they didn't so he ordered a seasonal drink but they also didn't have it (which is why I gave it 4 starts). The drink he ordered - the bonfire brew was not good. It didn't taste good or have any flavor which was a let down. We were able to find a seat which was great! Now to the food - the breakfast burrito is now our favorite breakfast burrito we've had in OC! The flavors were just perfect and the tots were fried to perfection. I will say that the three sauces are all spicy so I do wish they had a non spicy sauce. The Hawaiian cowboy is now my favorite! I loved it so much! We also got the brown butte banana bread and we liked it. I would try something else from their pastry selection next time. We went for bunch during week and I was shocked how packed it was . You have to go get drinks at the front which we didn't know . Long lines, terrible parking situation, and lack of order. I waited an hour in line, to order four drinks. One coffee based drink, two matchas, and a yuzu lemonade. The yuzu lemonade was supposed to come with a homemade popsicle as a garnish, however they ran out, and didn't tell me until I inquired. The highlight of my meal was definitely the Cowboy Steak Frites; the ribeye steak cooked to perfection, topped with rich cowboy butter, and those truffle parmesan fries were a perfect pairing. So glad to finally have tried Salty Horse, and it definitely met the hype - the ambiance, drinks and food all were great! We got the Campfire French Toast and Cowboy Steak Fries and honestly enjoyed both. This place is really relaxing to come with a small party (4 or less) for in-person dine in. They don't have large tables so anything larger might be a challenge to find seating (open seating based on availability). The table turnovers seem pretty quick though. Very little indoor seating and limited/shaded outdoor seating. Overall it's a nice place to grab a small bite to eat and a drink for lunch. I wouldn't recommend the grilled chicken sandwich (fried is probably better), because the chicken was really dry and it made the sandwich taste dry overall. The steak frites and Cali burrito, on the other hand, were decent and my friends liked these entrees as well! Steak Sandwich (5/5): Wow this was so delicious! Steak was really juicy, tender, perfectly cooked, and flavorful. Everything blended together really well and I thought this was a great portion. Very messy to eat though so beware! Fries were good but nothing crazy. Banana Matcha (5/5): This was so good! They sifted the matcha powder before whisking it and it wasn't gritty at all. Matcha was a nice strong flavor while still being smooth and a bit nutty w oat milk. Foam wasn't artificial banana which was yummy. I liked that it was a banana pudding esque matcha. Absolutely amaze! I've gone to salty horse a couple of times now, and have tried both their breakfast menu items as well as their lunch/dinner items. I really have no complaints, I've enjoyed everything I've gotten from here and even think they have some of the best burritos I've had in Orange County. I think their drink ideas are cute, creative, and fit well with the western cowboy theme that the restaurant has. Sometimes the matcha can be a little watered down but still pretty good. Service is always friendly and helpful! I like the outdoor open concept for dining and it's great for the sunny OC weather. We were able to snag a table after people got up to leave, but they didn't bus their own table, so we had to take their plates to the bussing area. There were no employees to be found to clean the table. It was about a 30 min wait in line but after that I got my food and drinks in about 10 minutes. I tried their matcha tea and the Hawaiian cowboy. The matcha was solid, nothing to write home about but the Hawaiian cowboy was a surprise! I expected it to be overly sweet but it was perfect! You can taste the honey and the walnut milk and it has a unique flavor. Personally I like a stronger coffee flavor so while I would order this again I would definitely add an extra espresso shot to it. I ordered the salty red breakfast burrito and it is a must try! From the first bite I was hooked. The pastor had a really great flavor that paired so well with the creamy avocado, crispy tots, and the rest of the components. the two salsas that they provide were both delicious but not needed, the burrito can hold its own! The green salsa had a nice freshness to it and the chipotle crema had the tiniest of kick but was pleasant. The vibe of this place is, as they say, immaculate. There is very limited inside seating but outside is where it's at. The patio is spacious and so gorgeous with the choices of decor fitting in perfectly and creating a relaxing atmosphere and one that I would love to come back to. We skipped coffee but got two dishes for breakfast and a banana bread slice. The banana bread is insane. This is the greatest banana bread in California it is dense and sweet and has ICING! We then got the wanderer which we were expecting some sort of sausage but the sausage was like thick cut bacon and it was soooo good. Salty Horse did not disappoint! We waited about 20 minutes to order our food, but it was absolutely worth it. The food was incredible everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was delicious! The service was just as amazing; everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. I wish it was a little bigger but other than that great place. came on a monday afternoon and it was very crowded and there was barely any parking. waited in line for about 15 minutes and then waited for the order for another 10-15 minutes. they have barely any seating for the amount of people who come here. they need a better system on managing seating for people who order. most people were just standing and waiting for other tables to open up including us which was a bit frustrating. the seating outside is limited space too. i ordered the bear pie and avalon toast but the smoothie was the only thing worth getting. overall, i expected better but i would come back again for the smoothie. read more

Good food, super long wait. We got it the line and it wasn't insanely long but it took a really long time to get through it. That being said, the restaurant has a fun theme and felt pretty nice and clean. The food was hit and miss. I thought the breakfast burrito was above average but the chicken and ube waffles had a couple problems. The sauce on the chicken was good, but it wasn't enough and the chicken was kind of dry. This place is so cute! Love all of the decor and the outdoor seating is really nice too. The only negative was the wait time in line just to order, but the food came out super quick! Everything we ordered was soo good. I didn't get a drink but would love to try one of their lattes next time. They have a lot of good options in both food and drink. I finally made it out to Salty Horse. This has been on my bucket list for some time now. I like that is located away from Triangle Square area so it was easy for me to get to and find parking on the street. It is very charming inside and the door inside opens widely to the outside so you get a lot of fresh air while dining inside. I ordered the cinnamon churro latte, which is part of their limited time collaboration with Polite Society. I find the pricing fair at $7.00 for the drink with the $0.50 oat milk substitute surcharge included. There are some places in the area that charge $1.00 for plant milk substitute. read more
