The care given was fine. The problem was with the front office. I will say up front I should have been more thorough in my homework on whether they were in-network, but I relied on my dentist's recommendation. I'm used to working with providers who get pre-approval, and who bill your insurance. That is not how this office works. I needed a biopsy, which they made me pay up front and said they would submit to insurance and reimburse me when they got paid. They use a third party service and submitted the claim using paper forms. Apparently it went first my dental insurance, then to my medical. They ended up calling about 60% of the charge beyond reasonable and customary. They reimbursed 40%, which they applied to my deductible. So I expect to get no check back from the provider. This process has taken nearly five months so far. The front office has been fairly responsive, but so far all the information on progress I've had to get from my insurance company myself. It was nearly $1,000 so not pocket change. But hey, good news it wasn't cancer. read more

I had an implant surgery with Dr. Franco Audia in 2017. After 2 years, I had enough bone loss that my dentist sent me back to him for a recheck and my dental implant was considered a failed implant. Dr. Audia sent me to Premier Periodontics for a laser periodontal surgery that I paid out of my own pocket and said he would re-do the implant himself if the bone level didn't improve. After the laser surgery, the bone level didn't improve, Dr. Audia forgot about his own promise to own the failed implant. I had my impacted wisdom tooth removed by Dr. Banda. Everyone in his office was pleasant and professional. I was initially really worried about the pain because the tooth was tilted and impacted. However, to my surprise, the pain was pretty minimal after the surgery. I didn't even have to take painkillers that much. (Normally I'm super sensitive to pain.) My only guess is Dr. Banda has effectively done the surgery with a minimal cut. Another thing that I'd like to mention is that I first went to the different oral surgeon in Bellevue and was told that my out of pocket cost will be $700 because the general anesthesia involved in a single wisdom tooth extraction can't be covered by insurance (wth?). I work at Microsoft (Premera BlueCross) and I found this weird. I asked some of my colleagues and one told me that she extracted a single impacted wisdom tooth at Dr. Audia's and her out of pocket was about 200. Let me start by saying I hate going to the dentist! I hate having my mouth jacked open and my teeth scraped on... So, I put off going to the dentist for 18 years. When I finally went to the dentist I needed a tooth extracted (amoung other things). I was referred to D.D.S, M.S. Franco Audia for the extraction. I was nervous and didn't know what to expect. However, durring my initial consultation I was quickly put at ease, D.D.S. Audia was kind and took his time to explain everything to me. I could tell that he really cared and wanted to make sure I was comfortable. The day of my tooth extraction came and again I was nervous. However, the dental nurse who was assigned to help with the extraction was comforting and exuded confidence in what she was doing, which put me at ease. Before I was sedated D.D.S. Audia checkered in and explained what was going to happen. Again, I noted how positive and calming his energy was. D.D.S. Audia performed the extraction and it went smoothly! I was numb afterward but in much less pain than I expected. I went home, took a nap and then had family over for dinner... I felt fine!!! I've been coming to Dr. Audia's office since I was 12 years old. I am almost 25 now and just finished my last procedure last year. You may ask yourself, "what?! It took Dr. Audia 12 years to fix you?!" My dental situation is extremely unique and complicated. So complicated that at the time of my accident there were no procedures in existence to fix me. Dr. Audia, through advanced training and intuition engineered a new form of dental procedures that were a number of years before there time. He still reminds me that my unique situation is at part responsible for some of the newest dental techniques out there. Long story short, if it wasn't for Dr. Audia I would've likely resorted to multiple temporary fixes that would have been uncomfortable, time consuming, and much more expensive. I am thrilled with my smile and am confident that I will feel that way until my teeth eventually fall out, hopefully in a nursing home. Getting a molar taken out isn't a five star experience. Being Dr. Banda's patient is. I was extremely nervous to have an extraction with just local anesthesia. I actually was afraid of not just the procedure, but of directing Dr. Banda to extract the wrong tooth. I had been scared away by other oral surgeons who got impatient with me and commanded me to just let them pull it out when I wasn't sure. Dr. Banda had me bite on something to test the tooth and its next door neighbor. He had indeed found the culprit for my screeching tooth pain but I needed to triple check that before pulling a tooth out of my head. Dr. Banda respected that. His manner is incredibly gentle, compassionate, learned and reassuring. I felt no pain until hours after my extraction. Yup, that means I felt no pain during the procedure. I'm going to be getting implants from Dr. Audia's office, from Dr. Banda - I am so glad I found him through a professional network. Truly a 5 Star experience!! As a patient with stage 3 kidney disease, I felt like this practice really took care of me and personalized my care. Dr. Banda spoke with me at length before (for close to 40 minutes!) the actual surgery date and actually talked about my conditions and even talked about fluid management and my kidneys! My nephrologist doesn't even go into that much detail! I truly felt like I was in really safe hands maybe because he is both a physician and a dentist and the procedure went really smoothly. I was put to sleep with an IV and a tooth was removed and a bone graft was placed to rebuild that part of the jaw, and I don't remember a thing! The recovery was basically painless and he even called me after to check on me. The staff was really straightforward and gave me all my fees in the beginning. Yes, this practice is probably expensive but absolutely worth every penny when it came to my health. I was extremely nervous about getting my wisdom teeth removed, especially with my age (35) and my teeth being fully grown. I kept imagining how deep the roots of the teeth were. When it came time for the surgery, I was sweating and my pulse was higher than normal. The staff in the office did a wonderful job chatting with me to keep my mind off the impending doom that I was about to undergo. The procedure was a piece of cake, well at least from my perspective. Absolutely no pain and my exact words after Dr. Audia said, "All done." were, "No way, that was it?" I iced my face/jaw the first couple nights after the surgery and I have practically no swelling. I had a horrible experience at different dental office where they claimed to be experienced with implants. The standard of care and almost everything that happened with this other dentist (not affiliated in any way with Bel-Red Oral & Maxillofacial) left me feeling fairly traumatized. I had two visits with that dentist that left me in tears both times and with extreme pain. Not to mention the infections that followed. I decided to look for an Oral Surgeon and found Dr. Audia and Bel-Red Oral & Maxillofacial. After a few consultations it was decided that we should start over. The implant had to be removed. The other dentist had attempted to do this and couldn't. Dr. Audia had the implant out within 45 minutes. He grafted the area, sutured, and viola. Backing up a bit... the area had become infected for a second time before the implant was removed. The previous location had used algae for a bone graft. My face swelled up and I was extreme pain. I called Dr. Audia's clinic at 10:30 pm on a Saturday night thinking I could leave a message and hopefully someone would get back to me. They actually have an after hours operator system and I was patched through to Dr. Audia immediately. He called in antibiotics and pain medications to a 24 hour pharmacy and talked in depth about signs to look for over the weekend and what to do if things got worse. I felt bad for calling and he assured me I did the right thing. The next visit I had was within a week (this is when the implant was removed). Because I had previous bad experiences I was nervous and broke down in tears. The staff was compassionate, understanding, and patient. I typically handle pain and tough situations easily and showing weakness is hard for me. They supported me all along the way. Dr. Audia asked me to schedule an appointment within a week to look at the area and prescribed pain medications, antibiotics, and antibacterial mouth wash. The area feels amazingly better (better than it's felt in over a year - this horrible situation began in April of 2012). I've seen him once since the removal and the area is healing perfectly. I have another follow up in a couple of days. The other dentist never once scheduled a follow up with me... never called... and were rarely available when I called them. Dr. Audia's office truly shows the level of care that every patient should expect. I only wish he could be my general dentist! read more

Dr. Audia and his team are excellent! I recently finished a two year process to correct an underbite that I'd had for over a decade, and I couldn't have chosen a better doctor for it. Treatment required braces (which I got from Dr. Soper, the orthodontist right across the street), and two surgeries to remove my wisdom teeth and then realign my jaw (both of which were Dr. Audia). Before I committed to the treatment, it was an enormously scary prospect, and Dr. Audia took the time to answer my questions (I had lots...) and helped me feel confident about the whole thing. I will admit that I am sometimes not the best patient and I tried very hard, or perhaps scared is the better word. Dr Audia is very comforting in his demeanor, knowledge, and skill to put at ease any patient in his chair fror the treatment ahead. His surgical assistants answer any and all questions, while doing the necessary preparations. One of my wisdom teeth started to bother me about two years ago. During this time, the portion above gum line were decayed and gone. I was hoping some day root will come out by itself magically, but it never happened, so I finally decided to see Dr. Audia who is referred by my dentist. I'm genuinely sorry to give Bel-Red Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery a one star rating. I was referred to Dr. Audia for a cyst in my jaw and he removed it quickly and effectively with minimal side effects or recovery time. He wasn't stingy with the post-op painkillers and I was up and about relatively quickly. Dr. Audia's front office team botched the billing with my dental and health insurance providers. After I realized I was being overcharged for the co-pay I even went to the effort of researching the billing with the insurance companies myself and got the correct alphanumeric codes for the procedure and gave them to Dr. Audia's billing person. She just kept submitting the incorrect billing codes to the insurers over and over again, adding "service charges" to my bill every month. She never got it right, and the insurance providers will only take the corrections from the health care provider, so I ended up paying hundreds of dollars out of pocket that my insurance should have paid. After this experience, I will never use Bel-Red Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery again. A couple of my family members needed work and we went to Dr. Craig Neal in Kirkland. Dr. Neal's front office team gave us a statement during the intake interview that clearly articulated both what the insurance would pay and what my co-pay would be. They got it right both times, and my co-pay for both procedures was significantly less than what Dr. Audia forced me to pay. If you're not insured or money is no object, I'm happy to recommend Dr. Audia, but if you need to watch your costs and get insurance coverage, look elsewhere. read more

I had an ameloblastoma on my lower left jaw. I have had numerous procedures on my mouth to begin the dental implant process as 2 teeth had to be removed due to the ameloblastoma. It begin with procedures in Denver, Colorado and then I moved back to Seattle. I then went to Dr. Audia to do the bone graph and put in the posts for the implant. I could not have been in better hands. I went to him over a few years, about 4, for procedures. During that time I had some complications as my body was rejecting the bone put in. However, through all the complications and procedures, he took the utmost care in my health and making sure I received the best treatment. There were times I would need to come in last minute and he would always make time for me. He also was very honest with me about any side effects ( there is nerve damage on my lower left jaw due to the procedures) but again he was honest about what I can expect as a result of it. The staff there too just made it that much more easy to go through all the procedures. After many years I finally am ready for the next step therefore ending my time with Dr. Audia. I am forever grateful though for the care he provided me during the last few years as it's been a long journey. read more
