It's quaint. It was good. It's definitely local Italian, but when we entered, they were playing Unforgetable by Nat King Cole. They continued to play that genre of music. Jan was a happy camper. We ordered a glass of Italian red, Primitivo Di Mandura. It was enjoyable, but not overly expensive. I was ready for an Italian Pizza. I ordered the Diavola (spicy salami). Jan ordered the Margherita. The pizzas were very good. The cheese and the sauce were exceptional. The crust would be typical of hand tossed in OKC. On the Divavola the salami reminded me of curled pepperoni. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner. The service was exceptional. Loved the venue.

Cappuccino and pastries were really good, the staff was always friendly and willing to work with my mix of languages when ordering food. It is usually busy in the morning and nights, which I think is a good sign. We stopped here as soon as we arrived Rome because we were very hungry and had pizza. After trying other places, food in the evening is okay, but not the best. We stopped one more time another evening and ordered a selection of the small plates they have for dinner, again, it was okay--not too good, not too bad. I have to confess that I miss getting there every morning and see friendly faces, ordering my coffee and experiencing a little bit of what lively mornings looks like in this neighborhood.

When I got to my table to eat the food was cold and gross (cold eggplant lasagna sitting in a pool of liquid) I took it back inside and they would not give me a refund, they demanded I pick out something else from their case of stale food... I can only speak English and a smattering of French. The merchants at Il Gianfornaio spoke English better than me. That was embarrassing.
