impressed with the Mac n cheese. The reason I'm going this 3 stars isn't really because of the taste of the food rather the 2 hours it took to get our food. We ordered and the guy said he has to make the oxtail which would be about 45 min so we said ok. Paid left and came back about an hour later just to give him extra time. When we got back he said oh now I have to fry the fish so we waited about 30 min sat in the car came back inside and he still hadn't done it. So we waited about her 15 min. Finally after 3 times coming back inside he finally had our food ready. And although parts of the order were good it just wasn't worth the $60 we spent on it. Probably won't be back but if u are a fan of patiently waiting and an obscene amount of garlic then by all means u will love the food.

The Rasta pasta was had so much flavor and definitely a good kick to it.

So when you walk in you are immediately greeted with the most amazing smells!! When we came in never having been here before we asked what is the most popular which was of course the oxtail. We ordered oxtail and Rasta pasta and fried fish and Mac n cheese and although it wasn't bad it was just sooooooo over garlicky. I could only eat about a bit or two of the pasta. Was so glad to have found this spot while visiting Fairbanks. We got the oxtail with Mac n cheese and side rice and peas. Oxtail fell off the bone soo good and full of flavor. No complaints on that Mac . Also got the fried catfish that was seasoned well and fried to perfection. The Rasta pasta was had so much flavor and definitely a good kick to it. read more

First time having this while being out here. Definitely a must go for sure. The oxtail over red beans and rice was sooo flavorful with the cabbage on the side. The jerk chicken was full of flavors and and the Mac and cheese was yummy with it. It's a new business out here and being Haitian this definitely reminded me of my mothers cooking. read more

This is the best food in Fairbanks. Don't hesitate, they give samples of the proteins so you can decide what you want. I wish I had taken a picture but they wouldn't do justice to how juicy and flavorful the chicken was. read more

The food was ok. My husband recommended this place. Got 2 oxtail plates, wanted cabbage but the guy was like my recommendation is go with the Mac and cheese and the Rasta pasta. Mac was super dry with no flavor. The Rasta pasta was so spicy. No wonder he recommended these. No one wanted to buy them. Anyhow, the oxtail alone was good. I'll have to try it again when I visit another time. read more

I've been wanting to eat here since I moved back and boy was it worth it. The gentleman behind the counter was very charismatic and informative on the food served and he gave rock star recommendations. We got the ox tails and the chicken with gravy, both with their signature rice and peas, and boiled cabbage and fried plantains. We did a pick up order and the food didn't make it home for we had devoured it. Highly recommend this place, great food, great atmosphere, great people, Papa Vybes. The only thing I wish they had (more so resembling another place in Seattle I used to frequent) but if the space was larger to have dancing at a certain point in the evening, this place would be an all in one goto restaurant. Be warned you will need Shazam as they always got some bangers playing!! Thank you for you're service and I hope this makes it to the right people to inspire them to come try this wonderful place out. read more

Great little spot to pick up food. When you walk in you're immediately bombarded with the smell of the spices cooking.. it was rough waiting for the food because it smelled so good in there lol I got the curry chicken with white rice and Mac. Husband got the jerk chicken with rice & peas and Mac. We inhaled our food, everything was delicious. The jerk chicken is on the spicier side heatwise be aware if you have a low tolerance for heat. I could've eaten it fine but my yt husband plowed through his plate and then went and stuck his head in the snow after lol read more

I met the owner in the service waiting area of the dealership that I work at. He told me about his restaurant after I recognized his Jamaican accent and I told him that I was from New York and knew a lot of Jamaicans and enjoyed their culture especially the food. Today, I had a Jerk Chicken plate and a Jamaican Festival appetizer. The Chicken was juicy and tender. The sauce was flavorful and was amazing served over the white rice. I truly enjoyed the mac and cheese. The appetized was like a deep fried beignet. Really tasty. I will be trying more menu items soon! read more

We made a reservation for a larger group, yet the table wasn't ready when we arrived, and we ended up waiting much longer than expected. For a place that requires reservations, this was frustrating right from the start. The food was just okay--not terrible, but definitely not worth the price. Given our background and familiarity with Latin cuisine, we expected much more in terms of flavor and authenticity, especially considering the high cost of the dishes. The live music, which we were looking forward to, started about 30 minutes late. To make matters worse, when one of the band members didn't show up, the owner asked a member of our family--who happens to be a musician--to step in and play. Not only did this put us in an awkward position, but there was no acknowledgment or discount offered for his time, even though we had other plans to get to. Parking is also inconvenient, with only street parking or paid lot options available. The restaurant itself is very small, which does create a somewhat intimate atmosphere, but it also feels cramped for larger groups. While the owner comes across as friendly, it also felt like there was a strong focus on maximizing profit. There are multiple additional fees listed in very small print at the bottom of the menu--something that should be much more transparent or reconsidered altogether. Service overall was slow, and again, the pricing does not match the quality or experience provided. At this point, I wouldn't personally recommend this place unless there are significant improvements--better service, more consistent food quality, fairer pricing, clearer fee transparency, and better management of their live music arrangements.

Then my hot mocha that I was so excited for came out chilled, which I'm not sure how, because it had frothed foam on it, but it was cold- when I say cold, I mean chilled- like condensation producing chilled with Luke warm froth. They did remake it, it was still chilled. And service was soooooo slow. It took forever. The coffee was decent. It might've been great if it was the right temperature. The second time we went, it was still slow but the counter help was much more helpful, attentive, and I watched her serve several hot meals while we waited for our goods. It was still a little slow but the service was much better and the coffee was hot. So 2 stars our first time & 4 our second. I hope they get it together because there's a lot of potential and locally owned coffee shops are something we all live for!!!

Landed on the BLT with salmon. The BLT actually came with a croissant as the bread, so it made it very easy to eat. Lots of bacon and the salmon went really well with the sandwich. Fries here are great too! Staff here are great! Since we came here near closing time, they actually offered us some of their leftover soup since it would have been tossed out. Definitely hate wasting food, so that offer was accepted very quickly. I didn't realize until after leaving why Blue Roof Bistro has its name. It's because...the roof is blue heh. Either way, worth the visit.
