Amazing food! I ordered the butter chicken bowl. It comes with many options! I chose rice and salad base with tabouli salad and Arabic salad with two sauces, tahini and tzatziki sauce. We also ordered the chicken Kabob bowl and the chicken shawarma sandwich. My palate has experienced a plethora of Mediterranean restaurants from San Diego to Massachusetts. My family has an Arabic background and I'm familiar with the seasonings used in Mediterranean dishes. Being new to this area I haven't been satisfied with my culinary experiences to say the least. I'm so excited to find a place to enjoy eating at. The service was friendly and quick. While I give full props to those who have handed out four and five-star reviews to Aurora Mediterranean, my experience was just average. We ordered two bowls, the chicken and the gyro. Both were okay, but my main issue was they were too smothered in sauce. When all that sauce mixed into the hummus and the rest of the ingredients, the bowl turned mushy. I went early before meeting my sister for lunch last week since I have lots of allergies and wanted to make sure I could get my questions answered before choosing my meal. The two men behind the counter answered my questions well. There is not a lot of food I can eat at that restaurant, but was happy to find a few things that could be made into a bowl. It tasted great! The downside is they only have one sauce that I can have and surprisingly, they put dairy in their rice... I won't go there often but for people without allergies, it is definitely worth a try! I take back the part where I said I wouldn't go often... They had an amazing cardamom tea with cinnamon sticks. I will stop in there just for the tea! I'm not sure how this place ended up in Fairbanks, Alaska--but it was worth -20 below zero weather coming here just so I could have DoorDash bring me one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I tried this restaurant while visiting Fairbanks and I had it delivered to the hostel I was staying at. Although the side of hummus I ordered was missing, the butter chicken bowl was phenomenal. The missing item was quickly refunded so it wasn't a big problem. Some of my roommates also placed an order and they really enjoyed the food as well. I highly recommend giving this place a try. Where to begin . . . All I can say, is this place is the BEST place in Fairbanks. Hands down. The "bowls" are the best. Usually I find falafel too dry. But here, they do it right. Holy smokes!! I didn't expect to find this in Fairbanks!! That was probably some of the best Middle Eastern food that I've ever!! EVER!! had. Id rate it 7 out of 5 if I could. I ordered the Aurora Mix Grill plate which comes with steak, chicken, and kofta kebab. I don't eat rice, so the owner switch out the rice for a variety of salads. Baba ghanoush, Jerusalem salad, tabouleh, hummus, all on a bed of lettuce. On the side I got two sides of garlic sauce. The food came out fairly quickly. And it was nicely plated - see the photo. The steak was a perfect medium/medium rare. The chicken was perfectly done. It was moist and tender. The kofta had the perfect authentic Middle Eastern flavor. The salads were obviously freshly home made. All perfectly seasoned. I could have drank the garlic sauce. Pretty much did!! I took the first bite and after that I couldn't stop. It was a good portion and I planned to take some back to the hotel with me, but it wasn't to be!! I cleaned the plate. I wish I had found this place earlier this week. A visit to Fairbanks is a 300+ mile round trip for us so we try to include a special lunch/dinner as a treat. Finding the Aurora has given us a sure thing as we've now eaten there at least five times over several months and every dish we've tried has left us VERY satisfied. This small eatery features Mediterranean food including curry chicken, butter chicken, gyros, steak, lamb and more. My husband has tried several items and enjoyed every one of them. I started with a gyro on our first trip, moved to the butter chicken and there I'm stuck. I can't help it! It's so good and sometimes I spend the night before a trip to Fairbanks thinking about how much I'm going to enjoy stopping there for lunch the next day. It's that good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The family run business has a warm and friendly atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There's just enough tables as it seems a lot of their business is take-out and we always feel welcome (even when we struggle to choose between our favorites, they stay patient with us and are willing to answer any questions about the food). The best part is that the prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. We spent about $40 on our last trip (or it would have been $40 if we had avoided the yummy pistachio cookies!). My husband had the steak bowl and I had the butter chicken bowl. He had to help me with the last few bites and we both walked out feeling like we'd just eaten something that was healthy AND satisfying. You'd have a hard time topping this in Fairbanks. read more

I've been here twice and the only thing that stops me from coming weekly is that I live in Anchorage. I tried the beef schwarma bowl and it is delicious! You get your choice of lettuce or rice or both as the base. Then you get your choice of dips and sauce as topping. Everything is freshly prepared and authentic.
