I had attended a luncheon last week that was held here following funeral services for a friend. It was a good buffet with the favorites of our friend. It was so good that I ended up going back on another day, about a week later. It was relatively quiet for a weekday lunch hour if you want to compare to other places that are open for lunch hour. That meant to me that the chef who is also the owner probably could spend more time to prepare the dishes ordered. I ordered the fried Oysters Po'Boy with fries and an iced tea. Didn't take too long for the meal to come out. I cut the Po'Boy in half and the Oysters were large. The bread was nice and soft, not hard and crunchy like bread can be for a Po'Boy. Fries were nicely done, not too crisp but not soggy and greasy. Had seasoning sprinkled on them, but not overwhelming. Just right. After I finished my sandwich, I was wondering about dessert and just as I was going to ask, my waiter, Chris came up to the table with the choices of dessert. I wanted something light, so I picked the chocolate pie. It was a good sized piece that came with some whipped cream on the side garnished with a strawberry. Nice and creamy and not overly sweet. Hit the spot! I will be back again because it's got a nice cozy homestyle atmosphere. May have to try the weekend brunch. read more

Everyone found the food delicious. I had the Shrimp Hoagie (po'boy) and paid the upcharge for pickles. The shrimp were large, plump, and fresh with an excellent crisp coating. The side of fries were also good and nicely seasoned. There are no fountain drinks so I got a bottled soft drink with my meal. For dessert I had the bread pudding with bourbon sauce, which was excellent (although a bit of real whipped cream would make it fantastic). Our server was attentive and friendly. They seem to change the menu a lot; my friend had been there maybe a month ago and got things that were not on the current menu. I love that about this place! Because it's not a big menu with a ton of choices, but just enough different types of foods to give something for everyone - whether it's seafood or chicken, pasta, or meatloaf - it's just good food with interesting sauces. We had the grilled chicken sandwich and meatball sub, both tasting each other's and loving them. The only complaint is they seem to close after lunch for a few hours before dinner. If they stayed open continuously, they might get more business because I think the food is just too good for them to not constantly be crowded. The decor is clearly not what you're there for and the seats are just uncomfortable enough to discourage a leisurely meal (read: turn the tables over often); kind of a shame because if they stayed open continuously through dinner, had more comfortable seats, and less rundown looking interior they could actually attract a lot of business and stay very busy. Maybe they should try signing up with GrubHub, DoorDash or UberEats. Then you get to experience their terrific food at home. Looking forward to going back. read more

Had lunch today at Eating Americana after church with my family of four. The food itself was good, but unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. I have a shellfish allergy and was informed that the fried chicken is cooked in the same oil as the shrimp. Because of that, I ordered an omelet instead. This was my second visit--the first time I had the meatloaf. I mentioned to the server that it might be worth considering frying the chicken separately, since it's already seasoned and battered. That would provide a safe option for customers with shellfish allergies. I also shared that if my only choices are limited to items like meatloaf and omelets, it would make it difficult for me to return. His response was, "Well, we'll get other people to eat here," which was disappointing and frankly unexpected. Because of that interaction, they not only lost my business, but also that of the three others dining with me. With that kind of dismissive attitude, I imagine other customers may have similar experiences. read more

All of the meal was delicious! The waiter, Chris was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was pleasant and peaceful. We had the Salisbury Steak and the Meatloaf meals. It was all served with finesse. And, the Peanut Butter Pie was just right to share. We're looking forward to trying the shrimp and brunch. Even the ice tea was perfectly done. Eating Americana is one of our favorite local spots. James consistently makes high-quality, scratch-prepared food with fresh ingredients and none of the heavy saltiness you find elsewhere. We especially love the Shrimp Hoagies, Seafood Pasta, Chicken & Andouille Pasta (the sauce is incredible), and the Herbed Salmon with mashed potatoes and tomato-basil cream. The menu has a great mix of sandwiches and entrées, and while we haven't tried brunch yet, based on everything we've had -- including the excellent bread pudding -- we fully expect it to be just as good. He provided the best service I've had eating out in a LONG time! He was funny, paid attention, efficient, very professional and kind. A friend recommended Eating Americana for dinner. She said it's a hole in the wall, which sometimes is the best places and it is in this case. The restaurant is really cool looking with an amazing painted flag in the floor. The owner, who was also the cook and our waiter, was very welcoming and you can tell he takes pride in his restaurant. The food...fantastic! I was so happy to see lobster rolls on the menu. It was delicious!! It was a lot of food, but it was so good, I ate every bit of the lobster roll and fries. We had Eating Americana bookmarked in Yelp as a 'want to try' and we found ourselves nearby after church. We were excited to give them a try based on the reviews and photos but found that they were serving their brunch menu not the full menu. That was ok, though, because some of the meals we wanted to try were available. As we entered we were greeted with smiles and informed that the wait would be longer than usual but that they could seat us if we were ok with it. There was a very large church group that had tied up the kitchen, but we must have timed it right because we only had to wait about 20 minutes or so. They kept us supplied with drinks and checked.on us often, continuing to apologize for the wait. We didn't mind - we were enjoying ourselves with conversation. If for no other reason we would recommend Eating Americana just for this level of service! So friendly and considerate! But there is another reason to go - the FOOD. Ooooo wwweeeeee - it was yummy. We both had the Boneless Fried Chicken with red pepper cream sauce and garlic mashed potatoes. I added a wedge salad and hubby grabbed the "adult" portion of mac-n-cheese. We highly recommend the Mac-n-cheese. It was so good! The pasta was al dented (not soggy and cheese laden as so many are); I think each portion is prepared before serving. The cheese sauce is rich and creamy and abundant. If you are wavering about trying it - don't! The Boneless Fried Chicken was delicious, too. We really wanted to try the fried chicken, but it is cooked to order and the menu warned it would take 20 mins to prepare so we opted for the boneless option instead. If what we order is an indication of how good the bone-in chicken will be; we'll be back for that! The red pepper cream sauce and the glaze drizzle that is served with the boneless chicken was so flavorful. There was just enough glaze drizzle to keep each bite varied by adding an acidic punch every now and then. Such a palate pleaser! My family and I never heard of Eating Americana until we were searching for something different on Yelp. This restaurant has five stars so we said, why not give it a try. Wow we're we impressed. The restaurant doesn't open until 5:00PM so it was perfect for dinner time. We started off with the Chipotle Wings as an appetizer and boy they did justice to our taste buds and really hit the spot in our bellies. Our entrees included the Seafood Pasta, Loaded Mac & Cheese and Fried Shrimp Plate. Every plate arrived Hot and Freshly made. Each dish looked mouth watering and was delicious. The Seafood Pasta is loaded with Shrimp and the Shrimp Plate had about eight lightly crispy fried shrimp that rested on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes. Yummy!!! The Loaded Mac & Cheese was loaded with Chicken and Bacon and a lot of cheese. In addition our waiter Jose, provided excellent customer service from start to finish. He took the time to explain the menu options and the specials of the day. On top of that l, Jose was the only waiter on staff on Saturday and his customer service was still top notch. If I had a complaint, it would be that the restaurant could use more lighting. It was a little dark for me and I was happy we set close to a window. We have been reading about this spot on Nextdoor for quite some time, but we only recently got to try it out first hand. Friday night rolled around, and the spot we had planned to enjoy felt farther away than we wanted to travel. The spot we had intended to visit served Southern cuisine, so we decided to look for Southern closer to home. Enter Eating Americana. The folks on Nextdoor have been raving about their Family Fried Chicken Dinner, so we decided to give it a shot. A chicken, chopped and fried, green beans, macaroni and cheese, and rolls. Made to serve four. Sounded perfect. We called and placed the order with no problem at all, and it was ready for pick up exactly when promised. The meal was FANTASTIC. The chicken was crispy and fresh. Not at all dry (avoiding that other word here). Mac and cheese was creamy and rich. The green beans were crisp and made me feel virtuous for eating something green. We will definitely be back. We really want to try the seafood dishes, as well. However, the value of the family chicken dinner will be hard to beat! This is a great addition to the neighborhood. We saw great reviews but almost didn't go in because of how unassuming Eating Americana appeared from the parking lot. We're delighted that we stayed! It proved to be a very delicious and delightful experience. The food was terrific!!! My wife had the fried shrimp on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes in a Cajun cream sauce. Sublime. I had shrimp and grits. Simple ... but one of the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, all very high quality ingredients. For desert we tried chocolate pie and bread pudding. Both were scrumptious. The service was quick, friendly, very professional. But here's the crazy part ... the chief was on his own! He seated us, took our order, cooked our food and served us. He was efficient, kind, fast ... but never seemed rushed. We never wanted for anything ... drinks were filled discreetly before they were empty, orders taken calmly. He wasn't flustered. A hidden gem. Located in the Goodwill parking lot behind a Wendy's and Arby's this place surprised me big time. We got our order to go and the process was easy. The service was quick and friendly. We opted for the fried chicken and it was some of the best fried chicken we've had in the Atlanta area. It comes with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans. They also have the option to get large sides to go to feed 2-3 people easily. Inside there is also a small bar to sit at or some tables to dine in. I got the Loaded Mac n Cheese with Chicken Bites and Bacon. Best Mac ever. Topped it off with a Rum Bread Pudding for my wife and Peanut Butter Pie for me. Excellent!! I ate lunch today at Eating Americana in Peachtree Corners. Our server was Chris and he was great! I had the lobster roll and it was every bit as delicious as any I have eaten in Maine or Boston. And a more generous serving for the price. I also highly recommend the fried chicken - I have eaten it there and got take-out. (My friend had a cheeseburger and said it was great.)
