It has been forever since I was in an EnP, and let me tell you, I ate like a pig. When you are missing something that is a Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvanian staple, you kind of go hard and jam as much of your favorites in during a visit. First, let me get this out of the way. They appear to currently be going through a remodel. Which means that this place doesn't look all that great aesthetically. There are noticeable things missing (booths) and you can see progress being made (paint) but they are nowhere near completion and it made for an odd experience. With that out of the way, let's get to the food and service. When we walked in we were greeted...I think...and led to a table. I think this because when we came in no one was at the host stand, so I took this opportunity to use the facilities and wash my hands. When I came out, my Dad and brother were gone and no one was at the host stand yet again. I just decided to walk into the restaurant until I found them. We were seated at a table and left to look over the menu. It felt like it was forever before our server showed up at our table. By this point we already knew what we were going to get. But she only took our drink orders and disappeared again. Finally returning with our drinks we placed our orders. Now, if you know, you know, you have to do the salad bar here, add it onto your meal and be happy with that decision. I had ordered the Shredded Pot Roast Sandwich with mashed potatoes as my side (gravy over everything) and upped my second side to be the salad bar. Our server disappeared again and left us to hit the salad bar. I felt like the salad bar was lacking variety during our visit. There was enough there to make a decent salad, but not enough to make an amazing salad. I circled the bar a few times as items would be on one side or the other and reaching across just isn't a smart thing to do. A big bummer to me was that we weren't here on their potato soup day, by far the most superior of their soups. We dug into our salads and I made one more trip to the salad bar before my food arrived. Not for another salad, but kind of an unofficial side for my main course. I dug into that meal and savored every bite. Who knew the next time I would be back to one of these locations as they aren't a national chain. With that notion in my head I knew I wanted dessert. I had to get their Grilled Stickies a la Mode. Our server, who disappeared a lot, just happened to show up and ask that 'save room for dessert' question they always sneak in there. I said absolutely and ordered the aforementioned dessert. We sat there for a while and waited. My brother going back to the salad bar a few times for fruit and the bar's selection of desserts. About five minutes go by, then maybe ten, and my dessert is nowhere to be seen. Finally the server showed up and had to apologize since the kitchen never put it on to be made. She went into the kitchen and came back out with it. It was a bit of a disappointment as you can tell it was put together rather fast after forgetting about it. It looked sloppy, and was lacking enough of the syrup/sauce, what sauce was on the plate covered the ice cream and hardened before getting to the grilled stickies. It still hit, I just had to be sparing with bites to get the ratio of sauce to bite right. Oh, nostalgia, you have been fed for a bit. Hopefully if I ever come back to this location they will fully be through the remodel and have enough staff to make this a smoother experience. read more

If you're from Pennsylvania, you know Eat'n Park. Your parents and grandparents sure do. Basic, reliable and all that. And a decent salad & soup bar. This isn't Michelin Star. Not even Goodyear. So imagine my surprise when I ventured to ask about gluten free and yes. They have a lotta options. Breaded chicken, gluten free buns. Dedicated fryers...WHAT!!!!! The waitress knew it well and she as amazing. GREAT job. The food itself is as expected. And my meal ended with a return trip to the salad bar for one slice of cantaloupe, one slice of pineapple. Very laid-back atmosphere, everyone was very friendly. I am gluten-free, so I got the gluten-free burger, and the bun was absolutely phenomenal. They made accommodations for me by baking my French fries instead of frying them in the oil with everything else. Which was very nice, and they made sure to put it as an allergy and were very kind. We were there on the weekend of November 8, Brandi was our server. She was awesome. I was very cold from an outdoor event and ordered hot chocolate. Brandi brought me the most beautiful cup of hot chocolate I ever saw in my life. Not only was that great. She was awesome. The rest of the time we were there. I went in yesterday for dinner and I felt myself transported through time to the much simpler 2000s when I was but a child. The young woman- Danielle- who served me brought a smile to my face and God's sustenance to my table on fine white china plates. When she asked if I needed anything- I jokingly replied "a car, a hot boyfriend, and a cup of nesquick." Suddenly I found the title to a brand new mercedes in the lap of my new fiance sitting on my left. "We don't serve nesquick sorry." she apologized. I ordered takeout part of which was a whale of a cod sandwich with tartar sauce. Not only was there no tartar sauce but also the fish was dry and the bread was grilled with nothing, no tartar sauce or anything else. The order was late and there was water in the bag. As a local, this used to be THE SPOT for late dinners, after parties or just a causal place to grab something to eat. Over the years this place has gone down hill. The service is usually good, the staff and servers are polite enough. Our food always comes out cold. My family has never gotten all of our food at the same time. Even if we order our daughters meal first, its usually very late. The order is almost always wrong, we have to ask and ask and ask again for things. If the food comes out fresh and hot, its not too bad. But we do not frequent here anymore. Its our last resort type of place. My daughter still enjoys the buffet and the free cookie of course. Coffee came out quickly and our food order was given to her. The food was great, hot, and well delivered in a timely manner. Went to Eat'n Park twice this week. The first time they messed up my order but I didn't complain because sometimes mistakes happen. I went back again today. I ordered chicken tenders to go. When I opened the container it looked like one had a bite taken out of it. They were overcooked and inedible. The styrofoam container was full of holes. I would think anyone working in food service would know that styrofoam and hot food don't mix well and aren't a safe combination. read more

In town on business and this is very close to my hotel. We don't have this chain in Minnesota, so I thought I would give it a try. First of all, I was seated immediately by a very pleasant lady and a server came by and took my drink order right away. Cassandra was really nice and attentive throughout the meal. I ordered the Baked Ziti, which comes with one side. I chose the salad, which came out quickly. It was well made and fresh. The portion size on the Ziti was very good, and the amount of garlic bread was generous, as well as delicious. I ordered the lemon meringue pie for dessert and really enjoyed it. Bear in mind this is essentially a diner, along the lines of a Perkins or Denny's. With that in mind, this place was excellent. Good food and wonderful service. Worst grilled chicken sandwich ever. It must be grilled in a pan. It had such a hard thick crust on it that you couldn't bite thru it and it pulled the sandwich apart. I tried to pull the crusty part off but it was very thick. Waiter was very busy. Never asked if everything was alright. The previous locale left something to be desired, but this stop was a much better experience all-around. The service was much better and the food was good around the table - no complaints from a large party of 13. The Good: They are open 24 hours. The Smiley cookies are great. They have a selection of fresh pies. Breakfast is available anytime. Free refills. The Bad: The food is mediocre. The menu selection is mediocre. The prices are mediocre. The Ugly: Those free refills are hard to get because you have to find your server first, and service is slow. Very slow. It seems that they never have enough people working and a majority of those who are seem unhappy to be there. Because of its complete mediocrity, I only go to the Eat N Park anymore for one of two reasons: 1. To buy a box of Smiley Face Cookies and not eat there. 2. I am starving and nowhere else is open. I recently started going to this place again after about 4 yrs. There's no reason I haven't gone. I'm just not big into chain restaurants. My kids love the meals, and it's pretty decently priced. I usually get the salad bar. This restaurant supposedly buys produce from Yarnicks. I support local food. Service today was just ok. For some reason I thought the waitress said I can have $1 appetizers with the salad bar. I ordered the breaded zucchini, which she took back, because it was soggy. The other round was missing some pieces, because she said it was still too soggy. The taste wasn't all that great and tasted like a mouthful of grease. Anyways, when I checked out, I notice I was charged regular price for the appetizer versus $1. Like I said earlier, I thought she said this price. She was talking over my 3 busy kids, so I probably misheard. The appetizer wasn't worth getting. I actually didn't plan to spend close to $15 if the kid's meals were 99 cents.
