Came here for lunch. Cute diner with exterior and interior to match. Upon walking in there's a full sized statue of Elvis, and apparently a museum and gift shop in a separate building in the back ( we had no time to check it out). Just past Elvis is a glass refrigerator case with shelves of pie and cake slices. There is a counter and stools straight ahead, and memorabilia on the walls. We sat in a cozy booth and our server was prompt and courteous. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, served with provolone, arugula, bacon, and Southwest ranch dressing, with a side of well seasoned fries. It was quite good with a decent piece of chicken. My husband had the turkey club wrap, with the same contents, but chose onion rings as his side. They were fresh and tasty. A quick and satisfying lunch. Usually stop here 4 or 5 times a year since they opened. Sad to say last 3 stops have been marginal to outright bad. The positive today wife's pot roast sandwich was "ok", not high praise. Bad was I got an over cooked breaded tenderloin (black marks in places) that tasted like onion rings! And the big no no in my opinion, they served warmed up fries that were dropped in grease to heat up. I worked in restaurants in my early years so too me this is like breaking a commandment! So disappointing that this place that used to be really cute place has gone downhill. On my original visits, the food was good and the service was great! Not so much anymore. My husband and i stopped in last week for breakfast. There were approx 4 tables seated and two new tables of two that came in behind us. Honestly the entire place felt dirty and sloppy. We sat for 15 minutes while the only waitress in the restaurant took care of all the tables including the two that came in after us because she apparently knew them. Both tables got their drinks and orders input to the cook before we were even approached. (We were never approached) We left. With one cook who did nothing to help the waitress and one waitress who honestly looked tired and sloppy and could not be bothered acknowledging us or get us water and coffee , we just didn't feel like the breakfast would measure up to our former visits. If you get nothing else, get these deviled eggs. Six eggs come in an order & it was the perfect snack for us to share. We also shared a gourmet milkshake called the Marilyn Monroe ($12.99). It is made with vanilla ice cream (though I think we had strawberry) & is topped with a strawberry + strawberry shortcake ice cream bar + strawberry Poptart + whipped cream & the jar was rimmed with strawberry crumble. It was a hard choice between this & the cookie crumble, but I would 100% order this again. The ice cream was thick & creamy & the whole thing was pure bliss. Nice old school dinner with a 50's vib. So if that's your era, that alone should make you wanna visit. Nice old school music like The Bee Gees. So as you walk in this diner you are smacked in the face with a life size Elvis and a jukebox. There's even a picture of the Fonze from Happy Days. Dead smack in the middle is a Cadillac table. My waitress was dressed in a 50's attire, was awesome and attentive. Very polite!! My wife (who originally wanted breakfast) had the tenderloin sandwich with crinkle fries and I had the steak and eggs breakfast. Food was very delicious and delivered in a timely manner. I laughed because the cook took the time to cut my steak up in bite size pieces so I would choke. My wife had no complaints about her meal either. She really enjoyed it. The decor of 4 Speed on 50's Diner is definitely the star. That said, the food was pretty good, too. We arrived on a Friday at 12:30 and the place was hopping! We had to wait for a table and ended up in the corner booth. It was a cool place to sit, but it was a little tight for six with the seventh person using a chair on the end. The place cleared out a bit by the time we left, which was around 2:00 - 2:30. I think if you don't have a big group, you can get a seat without too much of a wait. Our waitress, Missy, was fantastic. She knew about the food, she was relaxed and fun, but not overwhelmingly so. Her service was perfect. I was super glad she took care of us, which was no small feat since there was seven of us. I'll only speak to my food. I ordered the special. Given it was the week before Thanksgiving, the special was a once-a-year option and I needed to try it. The special was a turkey, stuffing, cranberry aioli, arugula and havarti sandwich on Texas toast. It was served with gravy for dipping and came with a side. I opted for broccoli, which seemed like a fitting side for a Thanksgiving meal. It was a LOT of food, but it was good. The aioli was a little off-putting at first, but it soon started to make sense and felt right. Dipping it into the gravy was difficult (until some of the sandwich was gone), but delicious. The broccoli was great. It was generally steamed and had just a touch of butter on it. The broccoli was perfect. Will we return? Probably not, but that's just because between us and the diner there's a 30 minute drive. The food was good, but.. well, you get it. That said, if you live in Lawrenceburg, you should definitely check it out. There is also a gift shop and a car museum somewhere in close proximity. We didn't check them out. read more

It's a new restaurant, so I forgive things like slow service when they are slammed with customers. It's a fantastic concept, but our experience for breakfast didn't end with us making plans for our next visit. The first thing that jumped out to me was that when we were seated at the counter, there was no room for a server behind the counter. This was not well thought out. When the counter is full, the servers have a hard time taking orders without squeezing between customers or blocking the aisle. Don't think there is any way to fix this now. My wife ordered the build your own omelet, which works great for her food sensitivities. But after ordering no cheese, the omelet came with cheese and had to be sent back. Since we were seated at the counter, the cook told her he was excited and was just in a routine, putting cheese on all the omelets. So the second omelet didn't have cheese, but it was missing the bacon she had ordered. She was happy to have an omelet with no cheese and said the vegetables were very flavorful. She also liked the variety of fruit she received as her side. I ordered the sampler, which is a strange name for a standard breakfast. Eggs, potatoes, meat, and toast. My issues are with the chef's choice to serve only Texas toast and, basically, french fries as a breakfast potato. I don't think of a diner serving fast food. But the potatoes I received could easily have been picked up at a carryout window. It's disappointing at best. Slice some fresh potatoes and onions and cook up some good home fries. Then I'll come back for breakfast. The eggs were very good, but that's not enough. We'll try lunch and see if there is anything unique that is offered. It would be nice to have something different in this unique building. Updated 11/13/23: Finally got back to try lunch. My wife ordered the chicken salad club and I ordered the Peggy Sue melt. My wife really enjoyed the chicken salad club. The Peggy Sue melt was good, but I would order it with just two pieces of bread instead of 3 if I ordered it again. Just too much bread for me. The prices seemed a bit high for lunch, but the amount of food was probably proportionate to price. The sandwiches were on big pieces of toast. We will not be going back for breakfast unless a change in the menu is made, but we will try lunch again. read more

Customers come to have a good meal and conversation. The volume of the music was so loud, we had to shout across the table. We've been here several times for breakfast even after breakfast hours have passed. We appreciate that they serve breakfast items all day. My favs are the Avocado Toast and Eggs, the Breakfast Quesadilla, and the Breakfast Burrito. My husband has the standard breakfast and on occasion, the Tres Leches Pancakes. We love it here. We haven't had a bad server or food experience ever. The staff has been attentive, friendly and speedy. We like the cool 50s vibe and the music. We've had a couple of dinner items too and the food was GREAT but we really just love it for breakfast. The first time we came to 4 Speed I was sold. The ambience is amazing. The memorabilia brings all the atmosphere of a classic burger and malt shop diner. The music is perfect. The wait staff is very friendly, attentive, and prompt. On our first visit my wife had the American Graffiti burger and I had the Hoosier Tenderloin. Both were tasty, and fixed to perfection. The tenderloin was golden brown and tender. The crinkle cut fries were golden brown and seasoned just enough to give the fries a "pop" of flavor. We loved that experience. This time, the tenderloin was overcooked and burnt. The fries were too dark and a tasted more like the fryer oil than the nice, seasoned fries we had before. It seems the oil in the frier needed a refresh. The waitress was still great and very attentive. The experience was slightly diminished this time, but I still enjoy this restaurant. read more

Service was terrible. My server never refilled our drinks and I had to hunt her down for an extra napkin. She never checked on us and just stood in the back talking with other staff. My granddaughter had a small curly hair in her desert (she has long hair) and when I showed our server she actually said it wasn't a hair but part of the fudge sauce! ... until I pulled it out to show her. She just took it away with absolutely no apology! They weren't even crowded (no suprise) so they can't blame it on that. Went there with 5 other woman. She screwed up the orders, it was very warm in the restaurant and I had a 3 egg omelette with goetta, onions peppers and mushrooms. Have eaten dinner & breakfast here and both times it was excellent. For dinner I had Country Froed Steak with Garlic Mshed Potatoes and white gravy and it was very good. For breakfast, I had the two eggs with ham and potatoes. They give a nice portion of thick cut ham. The Potatoes were seasoned well and everything was fresh & hot.
