I love this place. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Restaurant is spotless, and has a cute ramen vibe. The service is quick and everyone is super nice. Now the food - SO GOOD! I tried Spicy Miso Ramen, Miso Ramen, Nagasaki Ramen, Spicy Pork Katsu Ramen (Level 2) and Sapporo Ramen - so I have been around...haha. My favorite is Spicy Miso and then Spicy Katsu but they are all good. That soft boil egg is cooked to perfection. The sushi is so fresh. As for appetizers, I would recommend Hekka Eggplant and the chicken wings (so so crispy - love the miso sauce). Tako Yaki was ok. It was good but I've just had better. The Geso (squid) was chewy and the serving was TINYYYYY - so I recommend you skip that one. Spicy Honey Chicken Bun was ok - I wouldn't order it again but makes me wanna try the pork belly version. I go there for the ramen mostly - it is better than any other ramen I have had in Providence. My only negative comment is that their hot oil is not very good. It's not very spicy or flavorful. But I have had some amazing, home made spicy oil - so maybe I'm just spoiled. read more

I soooo wanted to love this place! I saw all the positive reviews about the ramen and decided I needed to go check it out! Unfortunately, there were more cons about this place than pros. PROS - Place is super clean and welcoming! Service is extremely friendly and fun. Atmosphere is cozy. Food is generally okay. CONS - Food is not Japanese unfortunately! Sorry but I had been living in China for the past two years, up until COVID broke out, and traveled to other Asian countries during my vacation breaks...including Japan. When I first tried the gyoza here at Ebisu, my palate was immediately transported to homemade Chinese dumplings! They were good but not as thin, crispy and melt in your mouth as gyoza. They're just different! Next we had the 30 hr Tonkotsu broth with seafood...this was even more disappointing. This broth is meant to be CREAMY, THICK & UNCTUOUS....but the one we had wasn't any of these at all. It didn't even taste like pork...or seafood for that matter. It was a bit on the salty side but I don't really care too much about this - my problem is just that this is false advertising. Listen, I OBVIOUSLY didn't expect to have as good as a ramen here as I did in Japan because hey, this is RI. However if you have a tonkotsu broth on the menu, then I expect the broth to taste SOMEWHAT like it! This one just had a strong garlic powder seasoning and sesame oil flavor to it. Uhhh I'm just really sad...I DO think the staff here are tremendously kind and friendly but the food is simply not Japanese and I was really craving those authentic flavors. Once a month I go out with a couple of close friends to different restaurants. Everyone gets to pick a restaurant of their choice each month. This week I picked Ebisu by it's reviews on Yelp. We had 4 different appetizers on the menu along with our meals. We had the garlic chili edamame, baby back ribs & Hakka eggplant, chicken wings. Everything was delicious. I had the Unaju (grilled freshwater Eel) for my main meal. The eel was cooked perfectly. Looking forward to going back and trying the Ahi Tuna. read more

I was mildly disappointed by this spot. East Providence needs literally any kind of independent restaurants to balance out all the chains and fast food. It's all the better if we can get an Izakaya in the mix. Not surprisingly, we didn't know this place was here. We read some reviews and figured we'd give it a shot. We had some takoyaki and nigiri as appetizers, which were fine. We also had two different orders of ramen and one of the rice bowls. The ramen broth was nothing special, and the chashu in mine was just not very good at all. I also tasted some of the sushi bowl, and I was shocked at the amount of vinegar on the rice. It was enough to make me wonder if some had actually been spilled. Not appropriate for a dish that is, after all, meant to feature sushi. I think this would be a good spot to have some beers and order strictly Izakaya snacks, but the dinner was underwhelming. Still, I'll root for this place to improve, because I would love to have it in the rotation in East Providence! read more

I am so glad I was introduced to this gem! It has quickly become my new favorite casual restaurant in this still not-quite-normal world. I was first introduced to Ebisu because of their ramen. They have multiple ramen/noodle soup dishes on their menu, which can be customized to accommodate gluten allergies, spice level preference and add ons, as well as a "build your own" ramen option. I have probably had 5 different bowls of ramen by now, a mix of menu dishes and create my own, and every single one has been delicious in their own way! The duck ramen has a deep umani flavor with an entire confit duck leg quarter served on the side, and the soft boiled eggs are a must try! If you like it hot, or aren't sure what spice level you can handle, be sure to ask for their chili oil on the side for an extra kick and more control over the kick. Besides the ramen, they also have awesome sushi bowls, appitizers, entrees and a great selection of Japanese beer, sake and cocktails. I highly reccomend the lyche martini. Their menu is an awesome mix of familiar (gyoza, miso soup, seaweed salad...), traditional (katsu curry, yakitori, hakka eggplant...) and fusion (sushi "pizza" and wonton "tacos" anyone?). There is something for everyone from picky eaters to adventurous with items ranging from chickin wings to beef tounge and whole grilled squid. The service is amazing and the prices very reasonable for the quality you get. Chasu 2. tasted old and just microwaved Noodle - 2. The ramen noodles were overcooked!! This is a huge no no. Overall: 3. Ramen has potential but two huge dings: The ramen noodles were over cooked and to make it worse, the broth was luke warm. Just these two dings would have been a show stopper but since a good ramen places are so scarce around here, i might give it another try. How hard is it to serve the food hot? I love Ebisu! I've been to their original location twice and always leave satisfied. This location also left the same impression. This time, I ordered the Taiwanese pork bun and takoyaki for appetizers. I'm not generally a big fan of eating baos, but the bun was really good. The pork belly was delicious and the herbs complimented it. I also liked the presentation of the bao, with the Ebisu logo printed on it. For my main course, I ordered the Tan Tan Men with udon noodles as usual. I love the spicy miso pork broth and the ramen is super filling. I could honestly eat it every day. Although I did add more chili oil, I love how the broth has a good kick of spiciness without being too overbearing. The service was good and fast. The restaurant is beautiful, spacious, and includes parking. They also have some interesting cocktails that I want to try and a selection of Japanese beers and wines. Our waitress was super pleasant and gave great suggestions on dishes. For appetizers, we had their edamame tossed in garlic & sea salt & it was so delicious we had to order a 2nd bowl. Our Kids devoured the edamame! As an entre, My husband had the Spicy Miso Ramen & I had a Create Your Own Ramen, so I went with all Veggies. My husband loved his Ramen said it was flavorful. My veggie Ramen had a good clean taste to it & was incredibly tasty. Their portions are generous. The restaurant was clean, well kept, nice ambiance. My finance and I decided to go here for a little date night last night 10/14/ 2022 around 6:15-6:30 PM. We didn't think we needed to make a reservation as the restaurant wasn't too busy according to the live google tracking. There was still a few spots left in the tiny parking lot. We went in and got seated at our table immediately. The placement of the seating was the last table sitting against the windows in the main dinning room. The restaurant was pretty full but there was still some tables left where other guest could be sat down. The restaurant is not big at all! There was a large party of 8 behind us who was there previously. The table next to us got seated down about 30 seconds to 1 minute after us. Which becomes an important part in my review. About 5 minutes after we sat down at our table were still were not greeted by our waitress or waiter. I'm pretty sure the waitress that sat us down would be our waitress for the night as she was working the tables near us. A party of 2 were seated about 30 seconds to 1 minute after us was greeted first and were NOT able to get a simple glass of water! All we had at our table was our MENU! The two ladies next to us were greeted again by our waitress and placed their drink orders. My finance and I THEN thought we would be given a glass of water at this point but we were WRONG! My fiancé and I still waited at our table seeing waiters and waitresses going up and down the aisle walking past our table. I kept looking at them thinking they would get the hint at this point that we needed some attention. Our waitress then went over AGAIN to the table next to us and asked them if they wanted to place their appetizer order. My fiancé and I were STILL waiting for some WATER! After the table next to us placed their appetizer order we waited a minute or two later as we saw some waitress and waiters coming our way. As we waited the wait staff stopped at the tables in the front. At this point my fiancé and I waited 15 minutes for a glass of WATER! We were discussing the tip amount and my fiancé stated they would not get a tip as they didn't deserve it. I stated to him "Why should we even stay if we're weren't serviced at all? Since we were NOT serviced at ALL, this restaurant doesn't deserve to get our service. Let's leave!" My fiancé agreed to leave and we got up and walked out the restaurant. While walking out what I believe to be our waitress looked at us and didn't say anything. This was such a DISAPPOINTING visit compared to our first visit where we sat at the front of the restaurant and got a glass of water a couple of minutes after and the waiter was attentive! I understand they were less busy the first time but no matter how busy the restaurant gets a simple "Thank you for waiting let me get you a glass of water" goes a long way! We most likely won't be returning to this restaurant! read more
