Entertaining and unique! Snacks you've never seen before. Last night I got fish snacks on sale $3.99 because they are expiring in five days. I already ate the snack so what a bargain! Lots of sales like this.

I had an absolute field day in here. So. Much stuff from Japan I was short circuiting. I got so much snacks. I couldn't get more because I would have no more space in my back pack and I didn't want to keep my three friends waiting on me. We came to Flushing for our own food tour and time was ticking. Fridges of Japanese imported beverages, shelves of snacks and candies, endless real Japanese imported Ramen, etc. There are two floors!! I didn't get to go upstairs since I was in a time crunch but it is so fun here. Some items can very pricey though. I bought these Hokkaido melon cookies ($15) and Hokkaido apple cookies ($10) for my parents. These little jars of rock candy were $10 each, but they were 50% off. There was Hokkaido melon hard candy, Hokkaido melon chocolate, Hokkaido strawberries chocolate, and list goes on. It doesn't help I can't read anything. I relied very heavily on pictures and the price/nutrition labels that have name of product. The nutrition labels can be lacking. For example, for Apple Water, it doesn't tell you how much sugar... and I want sugar haha. I did not want like an apple infused water, but ingredients list had apples listed first, followed by fructose glucose liquid sugar. So that's one thing to be mindful about if you have dietary restrictions. The Apple water is delicious by the way. Come with a big backpack or recycle bags (or or you can purchase one of their nice reusable ones for like 60 cents). It is an absolute field day - I could have easily spent 2+ hours in here if I had all the time in the world.

Hip store with two floors albeit the second floor is relatively small and mostly just contains skin care items. The first floor has a nice variety of items from anime figurines, biscuits and cookies, asian drinks, decorative goods, and snacks. I especially like the cool anime figures from Dragon Ball Z, Slam Dunk, One Piece, Naruto, and other shows that decorate the show. There is an interesting Zoro figure when you entire and a Vegeta figure as you head towards the back for the second floor. Pricewise it seems to be a bit more expensive but there is a nice clean vibe, good selection, and occasionally good discounts.

Neat Japanese grocery store located at the busy street of downtown flushings. We enjoyed the variety of products with reasonable prices. It offers food, kitchen gadgets, plates and bowls, skin care and make up products, action figures and toys etc.

Another gem in the heart of flushing! This convenient store offers a wide variety of goods from Japan. My kids and I enjoyed our visit. We all found something we liked at this store. The store is clean, neat and well organized. Definitely a must visit if you want souvenirs from Japan.

However, I don't like their service they provide. I understand some may have limited English proficiency. Communication can be frustrating. Cashiers are not friendly even when you speak to them in Chinese. Some don't replied which is annoying. That happened to us the other day when we asked for a bag and the lady just simply ignored us. We went to another lady and did the same thing even though we spoke in Chinese. Overall, it is okay store but don't expect much in terms of customer service.

I won't get my onions, bell peppers, or cucumbers anywhere else, and their satsuma mandarins are also a great find. The meat selection is excellent as well and very fresh. The hot food bar is always worth a stop. Their plov (beef or lamb) is a great deal at $9.99/lb, and the meat is unbelievably tender and flavorful. It often runs out later in the day. The samsa are massive, flaky, and come stuffed with pumpkin, beef, lamb, or chicken. The manti and bilyash are also fantastic. You really can't go wrong with any of the prepared foods. They also carry a wide variety of Central Asian and Eastern European groceries, including seasonings, teas, sweets, pickled vegetables, honey, and more. The bread selection is another highlight, with fresh Uzbek non or lepeshka. The space itself is pretty small and cramped, so it feels more like a quick "grab what you need and go" kind of store rather than a place to casually browse. A line of only a few people can stretch to the back, but the cashiers do a great job keeping things moving. Tashkent also recently opened a location in Manhattan that I checked out, and it's a larger space with even more selection.

Produce wise, they have an abundance of veggies and herbs. Fruit selection is not as varied as you would find in Flushing and I find berries are always pricier here - but if you're in a pinch, it'll do. I love their seafood section - we always get their branzino or sea bass and they do a great job deboning and cleaning it out for us so it's prepped and ready for cooking when we get home. Their freezer sections has your classic American frozen foods and also a myriad of Asian ice creams (like melons, mochi ice cream), frozen dim sums and baos, thinly sliced hot pot/bbq meat, and frozen Thai spring roll wrappers if you choose to make your own spring rolls. The refrigerated section have ready to cook Korean noodle dishes, ramen, and even seitan (for all the vegetarians out there!). After paying for your goods, don't forget to give your parking ticket to the cashier to get free parking!
