Piquillo pepper appetizer was good, but it's basically four bites of smoked beef stuffed into a very small pepper - but it was tasty. Mixed lettuce salad was good, but very small portion of just lettuce and radishes for the $13 price tag. Flatbread was okay, but in my opinion, nothing special. Friend loves the pappardelle, and I had the duck, 2 small strips for $40, which is overpriced. The duck was initially served undercooked, raw, and when it was re-cooked and returned to me, for some unknown reason, it was placed on an appetizer size plate Instead of the original serving dish. I thought that was kind of strange. Wines are pricey for the quality, and desserts were only ok in my opinion, not very appealing. At 7 pm on a Friday, they were out of 3 items..... A friend recently took me here for dinner while I was visiting Atlanta. The food overall was good, but could have been and should have been great. The charcuterie and the fried goat cheese balls being my favorite. In fact, the pickled onions and peppers that come with the charcuterie plate were my favorite item of the whole night! The service was ok, but I was disappointed when they brought our main...the pappardelle with braised pork. All 3 of us ordered this as our main and expected and waited for fresh grated cheese, not only because we wanted it but it needed it (and fresh ground pepper). We finally flagged down a waiter (not ours whom we hadn't seen) and they gave us some pre-grated cheese in a little metal container, and enough for one person only. We went elsewhere for dessert feeling a little disappointed. You expect an Italian/Mediterranean restaurant of this caliber and cost to have the simple things like grated cheese for your pasta. What a little treasure in midtown Atlanta!! I have been to a lot of fine dining restaurants in this city and as a consultant, I promise you, this is a restaurant that's got bang for your buck. This was my very first time visiting and I decided to celebrate my birthday with a group of 12. When my boyfriend and I arrived we were immediately greeted by friendly valet. Without me knowing, my boyfriend told the valet it was my birthday, and valet grabbed my birthday cake and present to handle it with our waitress. The ambiance and open kitchen concept is stunning and really made us all feel at home. We started with a few charcuterie plates, goat cheese rolls, chorizo wrapped dates, stuffed peppers, truffle pizza. For dinner we had the lamb cannelloni that must be made from unicorn tears. For a group of 12, our waitress Andrea did a phenomenal job! We didn't have to ask for anything. She handled our group very well and we never had to wait for drinks or food. At the end of the evening, she brought out my surprise gift and cake with candles. The manager Mark came over to thank us an introduce himself. Showed us his wine collection in front of restaurant and even took our picture :) I would definitely come back here! Tucked away right off peachtree street Ecco is a staple in the heart of midtown! It's been around for over 10 years and finally getting a chance to eat there I'm realizing why! Most of their produce is grown in house on their rooftop garden. The entire building is eco-friendly. I went with my roommate for our 1 year anniversary. Ambiance: We were seated immediately without a reservation. We were seated on the quiet nicely lit outdoor patio. Very romantic atmosphere, great for dates! We started with some of the best cocktails I've had in midtown. I got the sloe and steady burn (spicy!) and she got long live the queen (best gin drink ever!). Then moved on to the fried goat cheese balls - battered tempura style with tupelo honey and goat cheese on top. Crunchy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. My only qualm was that some were cripsy and others were a little soggy. If I'm gonna splurge on something fried I want it to be crunchy! I had the Farfalle for dinner. While perusing Yelp for Midtown restaurants, Ecco caught my eye. I excitedly showed my girlfriend the menu of unique ingredients like wood-grilled sardines, rabbit sausage, and crab spaghetti that got me excited to check it out. She subsequently surprised me with a recent birthday dinner here, and I'm happy to report the restaurant lived up to the promise of its menu. Ecco's dining room feels swanky and intimate despite its rather large size; it's perfect for a date. Service is well-trained and helpful with menu selections. Ecco specializes in wine, but we felt like cocktails. These were not the best libations we have had, but we enjoyed them nonetheless and they complemented our meal well. Do say yes to their complimentary bread service, as the crusty loaf we were served tasted deliciously fresh. We started off with Ecco's signature fried goat cheese with honey. Despite the hot fat bath, the crispy fritters had a light texture and the goat cheese contained within was fluffy rather than leaden. The honey and black pepper drizzled over the dish offered a much needed counterpoint to the tang of the goat cheese, though I could've done with a spoon or two less of the sweet stuff. The octopus fennel salad stole the show with perfectly grilled, tender octopus tossed in a tangy, meaty chorizo vinaigrette. Fresh fennel cut the richness of the aforementioned ingredients, and this salad was thus a great take on the classic pork and shellfish pairing. Our mains arrived shortly afterwards. We opted for the ricotta gnocchi with rabbit as well as the pappardalle with pork ragu. The pillowy, cloud-like texture of the gnocchi paired with meaty yet delicate rabbit represented the highlight of our meal. That pasta was smartly paired with a sauce of preserved lemon that added a bright note to each bite. The pappardalle tasted good enough, but slightly undercooked noodles and a lack of a creative touch downgraded the dish to second place. Ecco is a place we look forward to trying more of the menu. The elegant ambiance and solid, wood-fired Italian food made a great impression and I am eager to come back for more of that rabbit gnocchi. 4.5 stars. read more

My friend made reservations here for my bday in which it was my first time. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. I love being greeted by smiling faces and perky attitudes. I was seated very quickly and approached by our waitress almost immediately. The noise level seemed high but it did not bother me. Our waitress was very patient and paired me with a really nice wine while I waited for my friend. She was also knowledgeable about the menu and I actually ended up selecting a dish she recommended. My dish of choice was the Spaghetti and it was a good choice overall. The only complaint was that it didn't really have a enough sauce for my liking but the flavor was nice. You may need a starter if you trying to be filled afterwards. The dish was very light as well as the seasoning. It was very lemony. One of my favorite spots in Atlanta! Recently popped in for a double date supper. We made late reservations, but arrived early and had no problem getting a table. The staff that greeted us were so friendly, sat us and brought our friends to the table when they arrived. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, the perfect pairings and created the most delicious charcuterie board for us. They were more than willing to create a delicious meal for those with dietary restrictions making one of the best whole30 compliant meals. Can't say enough great things about Ecco! I only ordered the beets salad and monkfish, and I would go back and order that again. The beets salad came with an assortment of colorful beets that was crunchy, but not too hard. Yet soft, but not too mushy. Also, this was the first time I had monk fish. The dish comes to show that one should never judge a book by its cover! The monk fish which is usually swims at the bottom of the ocean with its one tentacle sticking out of its rugged-looking head, was braised to perfection! Had a great date night here. We did wait a little longer at the hostess stand, and I believe one of the chefs greeted us. He was very friendly, but did not know the system to check us in. We were seated outside, and it was a beautiful evening. Our server was very friendly but not all that knowledgeable about the wines. She was very honest about this, and we appreciated the honesty. We ordered a nice bottle of wine and some starters that were phenomenal. The fried goat cheese is a must try! They are warm and melt in your mouth. The sweetness form the honey adds an extra hint of flavor. We allowed our server to create us a charcuterie board, and she did not disappoint. The cheeses were really flavorful and so was the cured meats. My date and I shared the pappardelle and, once again, this dish did not disappoint us. It was a little spicy but the flavors were very fresh and great. Upon closing our check, the server did get my card mixed up with another table and then charged my card twice. I'm still waiting to see the cancellation from the first process, but overall this place is a must try. It's right in the heart of Atlanta and the views are great. Highly recommend! read more

We started off the eight cheese/meat plate, but forget which as I'm writing this long over due review, but it was a nice pair with my dirty titos martini! Super succulent Scallops, Monkfish, octopus all drenched in savory flavors that still haunts me to this day. This place is known for their extensive wine list and one that stood out was their seductive noble wine..called, well, Noble Tree"! We recently had another amazing meal at Ecco! We started with Prosciutto di Parma and an order of the fried goat cheese drizzled in honey and sprinkled with black pepper. For dinner I had the spaghetti with crab, ramps, and lemon. It would be easy to overlook this dish on the menu as it looks and sounds so simple, but it was truly outstanding. The flavors and textures were bold yet light and full of flavor. I will order that again and again. My husband ordered the pappardelle noodles with braised pork and peppers. It was as delicious as always. The service at Ecco is superb. Our server was attentive and friendly, yet not overbearing. We also love Morgan at the front of the house. He has an incredible memory and is somehow able to remember guests who haven't even visited in a year or more. We will eagerly await our next visit to Ecco! read more

This is my first time back in about 10 years. The restaurant is lovely dimly lit and welcoming. I arrived to dinner a little earlier than the rest of my party so I had a cocktail at the bar. The two bartenders were cohesive and very attentive. The host to sat us at a table which was lovely and our server Paul provided excellent suggestions and service. The food was amazing. We got this as a light bite, but the portion is actually pretty hefty, and with additional carbs ended up acting more like a main. The peach compote wasn't too sweet, very fruit-forward, and the goat cheese wasn't too strong. The crust was delicious and the texture of the goat cream cheese was light, creamy, and not too dense. Every bite was on point! + Got the Titanic cocktail and was a fan! The texture of the ice was subtle and the flavors were nicely balanced. Not a terribly alcoholic drink, but a well-composed and balanced one nonetheless! +~ 3 people at the front of the house--the person at the host stand was super energetic and kept us updated on the table availability. Why can't this be in NY? What I was thinking after not once, not twice, but after 3 times I dined here while traveling to Atlanta. I love when I go to a place and love it, but what's even more is revisiting it and being reminded exactly why you walked through that door a second and third time, pure excellence in food and service. Especially when you bring others and tell them how impressed you are by this place, you can only hope it over delivers each time cause your foodie word is on the line. Ecco is a perfect name, because to me, it embodies the definition of the other one it sounds like, "echo"; a close parallel or repetition of an idea, feeling, style, or event. Repeatedly it gives an amazing experience. The menu varies seasonally at times, so can't speak to dish specifics, but get a homemade pasta, they are bomb.com. And the seafood dishes are always cooked impeccably. The wine list is extensive, lots of great options and a staff who knows what they are talking about and how to navigate your palette. They have two bartenders named Sara and Samantha that are the sweetest. I watched the slow morning lunch end and roll into dinner and they attended all customers very well given a natural instinct when coming in is to sit over at their large bar while waiting on remaining parties or if you're a single seater. I also while I sat here awhile on my own watched a few customers walk in having no knowledge of the place be a bit disrespectful with the tenders. I personally decided to leave this review purely based off the grace of Sara respectfully communicating with the customer and that's why I'm here. The initial reaction of entering a higher end restaurant based off aesthetics on the outside and the furniture and fixing inside are then sharply contrasted and challenged with the waiting staff in jeans. The juxtaposition is exactly what you experience while eating the food as well. The restaurant could easily serve high class, small, expensive dishes, but instead chooses to fill you up with as may delicious flavors possible on larger plates. The selection also ranges from fried goat cheese balls to some of the best octopus I've had outside of the coast, and even serves decadent homemade pasta. I was super bummed out after trying this place because it's been on my list to try for a while. We started with the fried goat cheese...which was amazing..but everything went downhill from there. The focaccia bread was burnt. Then we got the duck and the rabbit gnocchi ragu. The duck was okay, but we were disappointed, as you don't order duck everyday, and we figured this would be the spot to try it...wrong. The rabbit was alright, but the gnocchi was definitely cooked too long and soggy. We would have been honest with our waiter, except about 30 minutes before we left a different waitress took over. No big deal, as I get this happens in restaurants often... but there was no, "hey, I'm leaving, so and so will take over." This place has a really nice vibe and atmosphere. Went here for a bday dinner. I was skeptical about going because the menu wasn't anything that I was interested in. However, I had already said I would attend so... off we go. Again, the setup was beautiful. Ambience wise... it's a great date spot. But I wasn't on a date so... lol. Moving right along... the menu is very limited. The wine selection was robust but the dinner menu... not at all. I ordered some type of pork pasta.. hated it. It lacked flavor and came out cold. (Update review) This was a redo from our anniversary and I have to say I am thoroughly pleased. From the moment we got there until the moment we left we felt well taken care of. It definitely exceeded our expectations and our friends we brought were impressed. From the charcuterie board to the delicious wine and great drinks that started us off was amazing. And then we kept getting one appetizer after another and each one surpassed the last. My husband and our friends husband got the 14 ounce bone in ribeye they loved every bite. I got the chard octopus and it was so delicious my friend went with the Pom frites and peas since we had so much appetizers. There wasn't one bad plate and we're already talking about going back. What a big change from the first time we tried ECCO and I have to thank, Chris the manager and his staff for going above, and beyond to make this a great experience thru and thru. This place really wants to take care of you and we understand sometimes that doesn't happen but they definitely made up for it this time and glad we gave them another chance. We will be back soon and we will highly recommend this place to anyone wanting an experience. Not what we expected at all! I had a wonderful time last night. This was our first time coming and the food didn't disappoint. I did look through yelp reviews first for help on what to get. First we started off with the fried goat cheese. I saw it recommended a lot. It wasn't all that great. I wouldn't get it again. Next has the short ribs and omg it's soooo good! I wish it was an entree. The meat was so tender. I would definitely order it again. Next we tried the duck pintxo with pork belly. Again, soooo good. Definitely recommend this too. As for our entrees my husband got the bone in filet. He said it was cooked exactly how he wanted it (medium rare) and it was delicious. I got the gnocchi with rabbit and once again so gooood!!! The ambience is great, dim lit and even though there is music playing, it never gets loud enough that you can't hear what others at your table are saying. They have a great selection of wine. (I had fusilli pomodoro which was a custom vegan dish for me). What I love about this place is the modern urban decor, the high level of service and frankly, the exceptional, yet modestly priced wines. I can drink small vineyard well-curated 90 pointers like the 2009 Brunello and 2011 Alexander Valley cab for $100/bottle that drink like $240/bottle Caymus & other labels.) I've been to this place several times. It is considered my favorite restaurant to go to! I recommend the fried goat cheese! It was absolutely amazing. You can't go wrong with any of the entrees.
