I just spoke to Nate about a suspicion of mold in our house. I had a leak in a bathroom on the main floor and it dripped down into a basement closet. I put up some box fans and a dehumidifier to dry everything out and after while the musty smell went away. However, I just recently replaced the hvac filters and noticed that they've never looked that bad. I'm sure I should have replaced them right after things dried out but I neglected. Nate offered that we don't get too worried about it just yet. He suggests that we leave the new filters in for a month to see how they look after that, then, call him if we are still concerned. We contacted Nathaniel to do a home environment assessment. We wanted to be sure our home didn't have any allergens or harmful substances. He did a thorough inspection and took several air samples. We were so impressed with his knowledge and expertise. He did find we had a mold problem in our basement (not toxic) and we had him come back and remove all of the ceiling tiles and grid from our drop ceiling in the basement. He and his assistant, Ron, worked tirelessly and removed every scrap of tile and grid. They sealed off the remainder of the house and made sure everything was done in an environmentally safe way. I needed to have an evaluation for asbestos in my condo. Of course this was something that was worrisome for me as I had already been living there. Nathaniel was super quick to respond to me and came to pick up the samples that same day. I received the report results within two days. None found, yay!! I had used another company before for a mold check and while they were competent they lacked customer service skills and just general friendliness. Echelon Environmental was a lifesaver! I broke two mercury thermometers in my home, and I was afraid to let my young grandchildren (one is only 7 months old) come over due to any lingering mercury vapors. These vapors can be very harmful to children. Nathaniel Hardee, the owner of Echelon, came to my home and took air samples, which were sent to a lab to get certified results. A report following an inspection revealed mold and fungus in areas of our home, which was for sale. A mold/fungus specialist was brought in and compiled a lengthy and expensive detail and solution. Recently my wife and I were under contract on a house built in 1955 and wanted to get the home tested for asbestos since many homes built pre-1980 contain asbestos. We tried calling many of the different asbestos abatement companies around Atlanta and most of them charged over $700 to come and test some of the building materials in the house that were frequently made with asbestos back in the day. The last company I called was Echelon Environmental Enterprises and was surprised and extremely thankful after I had talked to Nathaniel Hardee Jr. Our due diligence period was ending 4 days after I had called Nathaniel and he went out of his way on a Saturday afternoon about 3 hours after I called him to come take samples from the home to test for asbestos. He had the sample test results back just a little over a day later and only charged not much over $400 (and that included expidited lab testing and results). His customer service was excellent. Nathaniel took his time and was in no rush whatsoever even though it was on his Saturday afternoon that he gave up to help us beat our due diligence period that was ending shortly. He walked my wife and I throughout the entire home, crawl space and attic while taking samples and explaining anything we wanted to know about the home's structure. He has been in the business for over 20 years and is an expert in his field. With a Civil Engineering degree and an Environmental Science degree, he answered every question we were worried about in great detail. Asbestos is a scary thing that many people and their families are living in. Since my sister-in-laws grandparents both died from lung cancer from living in a house with many materials that contained asbestos, my family is very cautious when it comes to asbestos. All of the samples that Nathaniel took to the lab for us came back negative, and now we can live in peace knowing unseen asbestos fibers aren't there to hurt my wife and our future family, while getting to enjoy a beautiful home built in the 50's.
