Great staff. Always happy to support them. Omakase at the sushi bar. Uni is always amazing. Highly recommend.

Lunch special review: delicious but tiny! The price is right at $19 (the sushi is sliced deceivingly thin!) but next time I will know to supplement with additional pieces and rolls, so it'll wind up being more like a $40 lunch. A great option if that's in your budget!

Was... surprised. The lunch special is a tremendous value, and for $5 more you can get a miso soup and edamame added. Dine-in is well spaced due to COVID-19, and they were not only empty for a late lunch, but they had a seat right by an open window. And for a piddling $23, I had five pieces of sushi (maguro, sake, hirame, fluke, hamachi, I think it was) plus a blue crab hand roll. All quite fresh, and at that price, a superb value. Sure, you go up to the 2nd floor, the space is kinda spartan looking, the ambiance casual, but it all fits.

This spot... let me tell you when I say I'm DEF gonna be a repeat customer. My kinda hidden vibe Cleanliness: Clean AF Social Distanced- Not a spec of dirt in sight Ambiance: Super simple/ minimal decor/ open 2nd floor windows/ business white kinda look Food: FRESH! Beautiful sushi choices Not just that boring salmon/ toro stuff. Tho, the salmon was out of this world amazing! Hands down best raw salmon I've had in years. Disclaimer: I usually don't like raw salmon (only like cooked) but this salmon... no words. Absolutely blew my mind. Service: Perfect- Server Shin & Chef Toshi were kind, helpful, & all around just awesome! No stuck up vibes here. Ordered: Live Shrimp- Head in Miso Soup (FAVE) Shrimp Eggs- Drooling yum Salmon- MUST! Shima Aji- Mackerel Barracuda- NEED Butterfish Anago aka Sea Eel Sayori aka needlefish YUM Salmon Skin Handrolls Cucumber Sunonomo Green Teas: Coulda been better honestly Large Perrier Extra Ginger: $3 (large mound) absolutely worth it Ty Echigo team Ps: Let me know when you get hotoru Ika, Iwashi, & kohada again plzzz hehe ;)

Echigo is a hidden gem on the westside. Tucked away on the 2nd floor of a small plaza, the friendly server continuously keep your glasses filled and you get quality sushi. I like this restaurant because it is not pretentious, nothing fancy, but just quality fish. Happy Hour Monday - Thursday 5:30-7:00p, stop by for a beer or take advantage of their specials. Alternatively, you can try the Omakase. Parking is available on both the ground level and underground. Just be careful going down because the space can be tight. Definitely worth trying if you are in the area.

The dipping broth is thick, rich, and flavorful - each bite literally packs a punch to your taste buds in the best way possible, and I'm also a sucker for the seasoned egg that comes with it because it's cooked perfectly. I like to squeeze the lime to cut some of the fattiness, and because I'm literally drowning those noodles in the broth to soak it all up, I typically never have any leftover lol... BUT if you do finish your noodles, you can request to add soup wari to the rest of the broth so that you can sip it~

I haven't been back in quite a while since moving to the Long Beach area about six years ago, so I was actually pretty excited to have it again today. Unfortunately, it was a total disappointment. The noodles were too soft, the meat was mediocre, and all I could really taste was a mouthful of soybean paste flavor. The subtle bonito flavor that I remember and loved was completely gone. Instead, everything just tasted overwhelmingly salty. I've heard from friends recently that Tsujita may have changed their recipe, and after today, I have to agree. It's not the same. Something has definitely changed, and unfortunately, it's changed into something I barely recognize from the Tsujita I used to love.

The spicy GOAM with crispy noodles as the base was great, definitely not as much of a spicy flavor as I thought, as it seemed the main source was pickled jalapeños tucked into the layers. I personally am not a fan of a concentrated spicy jalapeño bite so I ended up not getting much spice. However the rest of the pancake was very good! The loaded Kaisen was indeed piled high with seafood, but I thought the flavor was a bit light in the pancake itself. The seafood did seem fresh and tender though! The hamburg omurice was absolutely delicious. Something about their demiglace sauce here was special, I'm usually not a fan but this time I ate every drop! The steak was also tender and juicy, a perfect combination with the dish as a whole. At a late lunch time (2PMish) it wasn't too busy, and service was pretty quick! This is the same restaurant group my college bestie and I last dined at (in Gardena) that she recommended. Sadly she's no longer with us and I'd chase her memory by visiting places we've been together... Shin-Sen-Gumi Chanko was her last recommendation, and she was Japanese so I feel like she would know what legit Japanese food is. :) All the skewers were delicious, the ramen broth we requested to be not too salty and they were able to accommodate. We love the chicken heart so much we ordered seconds. The gizzard skin was the only one I felt like we could have skipped, too chewy for me. The sushi taco were yummy too, highly recommend those, I love the pork belly eggplant and ordered 2 sets of those too, have yet to try something similar elsewhere... so happy we were able to pay them a visit. Street parking wasn't too difficult either. Thanks for the good times!

Sure enough we were seated right away and they already had a line waiting at the door. Service was good, not super fast but the taste of the food made up for it. The price point is a little expensive, we were 2 couples and ended up spending around $150 per couple. For lunch and for the amount of food, it's pricey. My favorite items were the chicken meatballs, they were juicy and flavorful. The spice tuna on crispy rice was ok, the rice was a bit too hard. The cucumber salad was good too, nice was to add some acidity to the menu. Overall good place and I would come back again.
