On first glance it was your standard three light Hampton bay ceiling fan, but the shade was screw on instead of the type with a lip that is secured with a screw (clearly I'm no lampshade expert here). Apparently this is rare, and if ease of availability on the internet is any clue, yes, it's not common. I was hoping the lamp man would offer me an alternative solution... something less expensive than replacing the entire ceiling fan, but he did not. Ultimately we ended up passing the problem onto our landlord (with a note of apology!) when we moved out. I have no idea how he solved it. Beyond not offering much help, the lamp guy wasn't particularly friendly and certainly not efficient. I love the idea of a specific lamp shade store, but the execution just wasn't there. I do have one lamp that carries a more sentimental significance to me... perhaps when one of my kids knocks it over I will give this place another try at repair.

He…read moreinstalled all of the recessed lights, chandeliers and power for the relocated refrigerator, oven and range. Since then, I have worked with Dan to replace all of our outlets with updated designs. Install new outlets in our garage, run power to our patio to string lights there. He also installed a generator connection at our main distribution panel and a whole home surge protector. We currently use Dan for all of our electrical work he is professional, prompt, thorough, thoughtful, clean, friendly, fairly priced and exceptionally easy to work with. He is highly knowledgeable and honest. I will only work with other electricians if Dan is unavailable, (who am I kidding, I would wait for him to be available). He is highly recommended.
