I was impressed with the quick response. I asked for the cost to replace a breaker switch. She said she couldn't provide an estimate but the service visit was $75. (waived if work was done). We proceeded and Aaron (the owner of Straight Up) came to our house the next day. He gave us a quote for replacing the breaker switch (which we decided to do on our own since we had done so previously) - and we also found out we had a bad GFCI (from power washing the day before). His estimate to replace was $350. I thought that sounded way too high and he came down in price to $265. When replacing the initial GFCI did not fix the problem, Aaron started looking around and found another bad GFCI (replaced in the last 2 years with one from Lowe's). Aaron said to not trust any GFCIs from Lowe's or Home Depot as the quality is poor. He replaced that one and we asked him if he could check out pool light - another bad GFCI replaced (he had to go get another one). The total for replacing (not rewiring just replacing) 3 GFCI outlets was $650. That was the heavily "discounted" amount! When Aaron left, I called 2 local, reputable electricians (I would recommend Fox Electric if you need an electrician). Both companies said the total job (with their $150 service visit) would have cost no more than $300-400 (on the high end). So I am giving 2 stars to Straight Up for showing up quickly - but would NOT recommend. When I told Aaron about the comments from the other electric comapanies he said he would match their price if I had them come out and provide and estimate. I had already called them and he could have done the same thing if he truly cared about reasonable and fair pricing.

Mr Sparky came out, replaced the one beeping, no charge. Now they say I have to pay to replace the defective ones because the warranty ran out one month ago! I argued that they put in defective ones, why didn't they replace them all at once instead of letting my warranty expire? No, they only replace them when the battery goes out. These type of smoke detectors don't have a 9-volt that can be replaced. Supervisor John Whitfield, Customer Value Manager at Mister Sparky got snappy with me so I called the police. His worker walked out and drove away without replacing anything. So, this company doesn't care about pleasing customers, just ripping them off. Be careful of wolves in sheep's clothing. There was no way we were staying in that house all night with my 11 month old baby and dogs. I was either getting us all a hotel room, or with any luck, track down an HVAC company in short notice. I called 10 different companies (all highly rated on yelp) and left detailed voicemails. Kevin, the owner of TX Star Srvs, was the ONLY company to return my call. Not only did he return my call, he did so within 25 minutes of my call, and arrived at my house 30 minutes after that. TALK ABOUT A+ AFTER-HOURS SERVICE! He was very pleasant, professional, and understanding of my plight, having kids himself, he knew that there would be no way a baby could sleep in our house that night. In ~45 minutes, he had the problem diagnosed, FIXED, and the AC blasting again. I knew that I would have to pay extra for the after-hours emergency AC house-visit, but I think it was a fair price at the end of it, and definitely worth every penny.
