Just had the most amazing hair experience here! Everything about this place was so inviting! Ladies at the front desk reception were so friendly and welcoming. The stylist booths are nice and look new.. I liked the tasteful decor and comfy chairs. They recognized the needs of my hair texture right away, did some really fine highlights and touched up a few areas of concern for me. Great place. It will cost you, but if you can afford it, come here! I've been coming here ever since I decided to go short and I'm glad I did. Their stylists are knowledgeable and if you build a great relationship where they know what you like and don't like, you can ask them their opinion and they'll be honest and not try to dodge the question. Having a stylist to bounce your ideas off of us key in finding the look for you. I used to be super-vanilla with my hair but now I feel like I can branch out with my look and my stylist will pull me from the edge if I take it a bit too far based on what she knows about me. But, I know that Elisa is willing to jump off with me if I ever wanted to take a major leap. Note: if you come hear, speak your mind, don't be afraid to let them know what you want. There are times I think it looks great but Carolina always does an extra inspection to make sure she is also happy with the results, The head massage with the shampoo is amazing. Unfortunately, I did not have a good result at this salon. My stylist was very inexperienced. I requested my hair stay a medium brown. I left with almost pure black hair. My cut is choppy and not balanced. It will take a lot of work and product and TIME to fix my hair. I have avoided getting my hair professionally cut or colored for over 4 years, I've never liked how anyone does it. However, I visited this salon last night and worked with Bailey. She's professional, knowledgeable and super friendly. She took the time to explain to me what she was doing and find a color I loved, she then listened to me regarding what I was looking for in a hair style, cut my hair and explained to me how she was styling it. After my stylist closed his salon I thought I would try Eclektica as is was close and good ratings. I specifically asked for someone experienced in blonde. I met with stylist and consulted with pics. She decided no foils which is not normal typically I have about 1.5 hours of foils. After color and washing she stopped halfway through blow-drying and said she was not going to add more heat to it then told me it was damaged prior to her despite her saying the contrary before we began when I asked her how she thought it looked. Despite her being concerned she brushed it wet. She said she was embarrassed and asked me to come back for a fix. I asked the owner for a refund the next day and was told the owner needed to see it because color is a chemical process. So despite the many attempts to ask for a refund I was embarrassed and went in in which the owner did not come to speak to me but put up Halloween Decorations. The stylist toned it and put on a treatment and again only half blow dried it. I had to spend another $60 on treatment for my hair that is completely damaged and still breaking off 3 weeks later. Stylist was nice but I would never go there again. The owner took zero responsibility for her salon and customer. Sad when you refuse money tell a client to come in so you can see their hair and you don't even speak to them when OBVIOUSLY there was a huge mess up. Then you make the client feel even more embarrassed by coming back in. Horrible service from the owner. read more

Today I went in for a haircut with Jenna because she was running a special. Walking in I was immediately offered a drink. It's the small touches that make the experience. Jenna was then ready for me and took the time to ask what I wanted to do today. She then led me to the hair wash station where I was treated to a scalp massage and offered a hand massage. I love this salon. I have seen Amanda twice now. And she's fabulous. The first time I went and I said I just want something short and sassy and showed her a couple different pictures. She looked them over looked at my hair and said I can do this no problem. I came out happier than I ever have with a haircut. She washes your hair and then puts conditioner on it. While the conditioner is settings she'll give you a nice hand massage. Then you move to the chair and she listens to you and figures out exactly what you want. She will cut your hair to a precise detailed description. It is hard to find someone that can cut short hair and do a good job with it. She is excellent. I doubt I will switch stylist. I will probably continue to drive all the way to North Kansas City to get my haircut. read more

Just returned from my first visit to Eclektica and love my hair! I have very (very) curly hair and Krystal was amazing. We talked for a long time so we could get to know each other. She has hair very similar to mine which was great since she knew just what a pain curly hair can be, but also how cool it can be. The cut is wonderful and sassy, just what I wanted and we had a lovely chat as well. Definitely going back, it's hard to find a stylist who can cut curls and she is a total pro. Zero stars is a more appropriate score for this salon due to the lack of professionalism from the owner. I went in for a balayage and came out (four hours later) with streaked two toned hair. The top part of my hair was a red orange and the bottom almost a blue ash color. I called the next day to have the owner tell me to come in so she could look at it. She was already made aware of the from the stylist. She had another senior stylist look at the botched job and that women agreed it wasn't good. They attempted to fix it by toning the highlights with another color. Well the issue was the balayage part still showed through where the previous girl applied the bleach. It did not blend, it looked like someone tried pulling it through a cap not having someone professionally put it in foils. So then they decided to go darker to cover everything. To correct the issue I had to go several colors darker to cover up the mistake of the first stylist. Three different attempts, several hours wasted, the owner felt it was appropriate to say she would refund my money except for $60 because "it cost her money to pay for product". To top that insult off she made me sign something hand written that I agreed this was the last attempt to fix my hair otherwise she wouldnt refund my money. She presented this to me when I had color on my head and in the middle of attempting to fix it. At that point I was at their mercy. I have never had a situation like this happen. I work in customer service and was blown away by the lack of professionalism this place showed. I'm not surprised to read some of the other same experiences from others. read more

"if you're looking for a place to relax with an old lady, look no further. new york's hottest club is SPICY!" oh wait - i'm not stefon. but if you ARE looking for a SPICY new haircut... kansas city's hottest salon is eclektica! located in the lovely briarcliff village and nestled between cute boutiques and cafes, eclektica salon is the place to go. where do i begin? enjoy being greeted at the front desk with a friendly smile and an offer to hang up your coat. what? you say you're a little thirsty? how about a glass of wine? or some water? coming right up! after my initial consult with abbi (my FAVORITE stylist in all of kc) which took 10-15 minutes and included many detailed questions so that she knew my hair better than i did, i enjoyed a nice hand massage while my hair was washed and deeply conditioned. oh yes, the stylists all wash hair - no divas, thank you very much! abbi explained all the products she used on my hair from wash to blow-dry and even took a moment to show me how to style my hair at home. i LOVED my haircut the first time there! but like all those who are jaded by half-rate experiences at salons, i thought, "maybe it's just this good the first time you're there to hook you and then it's all downhill." OH NO YOU DI-N'T!! i've been back 2 more times - each time i am greeted the same way (whether they're busy or not), each time i am offered a hand massage, and each time i leave LOVING my haircut. the nitty gritty - the place is CLEAN, simply elegant, and straightforward. in between cuts, stylists and assistants quickly sweep up hair. the prices are commensurate with the quality of their services - about $40-55 for a cut and style. (i haven't had my hair colored there yet, so don't know those prices.) the stylists are professional, trained in advanced and current techniques, and they offer $10 "up-keep" fringe cuts in between haircuts. NICE! they only offer hair services (along with a couple of extras, like brow waxing and tinting), but i believe that focusing on what you do well is a good way to be successful. also, right now they're offering a special deal on giftcards - they'll add a percentage to the amount you purchase. i think it's 10% extra for any amount up to $100, and 20% extra above that. I went to Eclektica for the first time for a haircut and color touchup with Kayla. Overall, I love the cut and the color looks great (especially from what it looked like before I came in). Kayla was very sweet and is a self-proclaimed perfectionist - a GOOD quality for a hair stylist. Salon had a great location and seemed really nice and clean. I'll reserve the full 5-star until I revisit the salon, but overall, I would definitely recommend Kayla and Eclektica. read more

I have had the worst experience at this salon. I almost left in tears. I called ahead and scheduled an appointment (I have blonde and red streaks, and was hoping to just go to a dark brown). I looked forward to it all week because I have a big weekend coming up. The receptionist said I had an appt with someone named Jesse, and that for a color it would be $64-70. They brought me in on Thursday (I was a little early), got me a glass of water, then I waited 15-20 minutes to meet with someone (not Jesse, someone named Katie Jo). Then, I told her what I wanted and she went to the back, while I waited another 10 minutes. She came back out and told me that to dye my hair a dark brown it would $134. This wasn't okay with me. I explained that I am in college and only working part time, as well as being told a different price. That I may be able to do $100 but no more. She went back into the back room saying she could check if they could make it a color correction which would be $91. I said great and that I understood. They refused to make it any less staying firm at $134, and she just kept saying that "It was our fault this time. We could do a shampoo or you could reschedule...." and on and on and on. This was thoroughly upsetting in front of the 10-12 people in the salon all watching. I made it very clear that I would not be rescheduling and left. Stand by your prices. I was told 3 different prices. And, for the love of God, don't humiliate/upset your clients in public. After working and going to class all day, I was looking forward to getting my hair done. I wound up being there 45 minutes with no hair color and no apology. read more

She chose Jebbeh for me and I couldn't be happier! After a period of personal care dormancy--- where I couldn't decide what I wanted so I did nothing---I needed something different but not drastic. I am so happy with this salon! I've been dealing with dry scalp issues for the past 6 months and no matter how much coconut oil or hair masks I used nothing was helping - it was really only getting worse as winter came. My stylist Kerri knew of a 100% vegan product that soothes dry scalp and removes mineral buildup. After the first treatment I felt immediate relief! She sent me home with a treatment for the next week but I will definitely be coming back! read more

I have been to Jordan several times for haircuts, deep conditionings, and once for corrective color. Each time she has been more than great. I use a lot of color and heat on my hair and every time I leave, she makes my hair feel great and revitalized. She doesn't lecture me about damage like other stylists have, and she suggests useful products, but does not push them on me making me feel like she's only doing it for a commission and not my benefit. Jordan is very professional and good at what she does. I came in with black hair which I have been dying with boxed dye for years. I requested a deep red color which meant she had to lighten, color, and tone it. This took about 4 hours. The time and money was well worth it. The price was decent and my hair had so much dimension when she was done. She colored some extensions to match for me, as well, and only charged for extra color. I once went in for a cut with an older lady when Jordan was unavailable. I felt like she was much pushier with product and felt like she was shaming me about not using more products than just hair spray and because I was currently using shampoo I had bought from Sally's Beauty Supply. Her hair cut was fine, but the experience was a bit uncomfortable. I will definitely keep going back to Jordan. I learned my lesson. Next time she is unavailable, I will wait! read more

After a bad hair experience at another salon I did a lot of research about how to get the best and nothing less. A professional in the salon industry for more than a decade recommended this salon to me (this person had no affiliation with this salon). They were so profession, efficient and told me the price of everything before so there were no surprises. My hair was a huge project and they gave me better hair than I have ever had. The professional color my stylist choose for me was Inoa from Loreal Professional. I am a huge natural product fanatic and Inoa is PPD free and ammonia free. The consultation was so in depth. After showing my stylist Krystal what color I wanted she put swatches of various undertones on my skin and eyes to see which one would complement me best. I never had that done before. This is a salon that cares about the integrity of your hair. I am now forever loyal. read more
