One way you can tell a professional massage place from a hole in the wall asian massage parlor is they give you a form to ask what areas you would like worked on or are causing you pain; another is that you sign about your medical conditions. The massage took place on a dressed up floor mat design. I felt warm enough and comfortable enough but was not used to being so low to the ground. I remember Eiko, the massage technician, beginning with my feet and washing them while I laid face down with a towel cover. She proceeded to work my legs and back. Her hands are smooth and strong. After working my back and arms she had me turn over to face up and worked on my head. I got an excellent scalp massage. The work she did on my lower neck was great too and was just what I needed for my computer neck. I don't know what kind of oils or lotion she used but it was good and I felt clean when I left. Five stars. She takes credit cards and has a loyalty program card that if you get 10 massages the 11th is free.

I have significant musculoskeletal strain and tension issues involving my upper and lower back, neck, shoulders and occasionally lower extremities. I am a recurring customer every 4 weeks and she always adjusts her massage approach after checking in with me re: the current problem areas that I am dealing with that day. Her techniques for me include deep tissue massage / Swedish / shiatsu with elements of acupressure and cupping.
