As I was leaving, saying thank you and goodbye, the front desk staff stopped me in a way that felt confrontational and implied that I was doing something wrong by not leaving a tip. I was made to feel pressured and embarrassed, as if I were committing a crime. It was very uncomfortable. Because the appointment was booked and paid for in advance through ClassPass, I was not aware that gratuity was not included. Regardless, being pressured in that manner is not an appropriate or professional way to handle tipping. Tipping should be voluntary, not something a client feels forced into through intimidation. Unfortunately, this interaction overshadowed what was meant to be a thoughtful birthday gift and left a negative impression.

It aided in digestion and just kind of helped everything move along. I felt so much better after immediately following the treatment. No more back or stomach pain. I requested a deep tissue massage and reiterated that request a few times during the session, but the pressure remained quite light throughout and didn't match what I typically expect from deep tissue work. Overall cleanliness was mixed. The massage room itself appeared clean, but the sheets on the table had visible marks on them, and the bathroom was noticeably dirty around the toilet, sink, and floor. I asked for fresh sheets because it didn't appear they had been changed, but the therapist told me they were clean. Since I didn't want to spend time going back and forth, I accepted that explanation and continued with the session. Near the end of the massage, the therapist asked if I wanted additional services beyond the massage. I declined. After that, the session ended very quickly, and I was escorted out. I paid for a 30-minute massage but received closer to 18 minutes, which was disappointing. Afterward, I looked up the business online and realized it did not align with what I expected from a traditional massage establishment. Additionally, the images used in advertisements did not appear to match the staff or environment I encountered during my visit. The massage took place on a dressed up floor mat design. I felt warm enough and comfortable enough but was not used to being so low to the ground. I remember Eiko, the massage technician, beginning with my feet and washing them while I laid face down with a towel cover. She proceeded to work my legs and back. Her hands are smooth and strong. After working my back and arms she had me turn over to face up and worked on my head. I got an excellent scalp massage. The work she did on my lower neck was great too and was just what I needed for my computer neck. I don't know what kind of oils or lotion she used but it was good and I felt clean when I left.
