Instead of explaining, he told me I could take $240 or leave. When I questioned it further, he tore up the check and told me to get out and never come back. I was shocked. This aggressive behavior was unprofessional and completely unnecessary. I would not recommend doing business here.

I was looking for a legit bodyboard rental and the shops I had been to and/or the beach side rental shacks had boards that just werent up to par. I was down the road at Tamba buying tees and the guy there (thankfully) referred me to Kapaa Beach Shop when I asked if he knew of any places that had quality bodyboard rentals. He told me Mike at KBS rented Mike Stewart Science Bodyboards.... The look of shock on my face was probably photo worthy. I couldnt believe the type of place I had been looking for was just down the road. It was already my 2nd time in Kapaa by that point. Kapaa Beach Shop is on your right side along Kuhio Highway if you are coming from the Lihue area. It's right after Chicken in a Barrel BBQ. It has about 4 dedicated spaces out front in its gravel driveway. They rent everything from beach umbrellas, chairs, bicycles, diving and snorkeling gear... You name it. You need it for the beach, he has it. It was jamming with customers the both times I went there but Mike was gracious and helpful with all of us. I was able to rent a hybrid Mike Stewart Science bodyboard which I used at a few beaches on the island. It was great. Thick board with lots of float to it, making catching waves easier. It also came with a Gyroll bicep leash... It was like a setup I would gladly have every day back home. I'm thankful to Mike for the Aloha and just being super cool in providing a quality rental. We chatted it up a bit and you can tell he is legit and really knows his stuff. I HIGHLY recommend you go see Mike at Kapaa Beach Shop for all your beach rental needs. He is the man. Mahalos Mike! Decided to get a "less cool", non mountain bike, grandpa cruiser bike, in hopes the bike thieves will leave this bike alone. Briggs hooked us up with a great looking grandpa cruiser since we mostly ride down the 7 mile east side beach front bike path. Briggs also rents bikes if you are on vacation and want to ride down the bike path. Briggs also services and does maintenance on our bikes when needed. He just replaced the chain and cables on my beach cruiser.

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and had no trouble finding parking. The shop is tucked in a convenient shopping plaza with plenty of restaurants and shops - perfect for grabbing a bite or browsing after a bike ride. What really made this experience great was the service we got from the owner, Robert. Pricing was very reasonable for a 2-hour rental, and helmets were included, even though they were required anyway. The ride itself was beautiful--lots of scenic views, and we easily had enough battery to cover several miles. The bikes had great speed and throttle and were really easy to use. The bikes were very good with great throttle and speed. We had an amazing time and enjoyed our bike ride through Kauai and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the island. In fact, we initially tried to rent from Pedego Electric Bikes Poipu. We called ahead, and they confirmed they were open, but when we arrived, the doors were unlocked and no one was inside the office. We waited for 10 minutes and no staff ever showed up, so we left. Thankfully, Kauai E-Bikes welcomed us right away and we were taken care of immediately. Very fast and efficient paperwork processing and then we were off enjoying our ride. The owner said don't worry if we're weren't back in exactly 2 hours. They were so generous but we came back 15 minutes earlier than expected.

Very quick and easy process. No forms to fill out. This is the cheapest place to rent bikes for the bike path. The bikes are rough "island bikes" ... but you are renting it for a few hours not buying it!! No upsells here. If you want a basket on your bike then grab one with a basket. $20 for 4 hours. The other rental place nearby charges an extra $5 for each basket! Plus they charge $10 more for the rental too. Why pay more? Grab a bike at Kauai Snorkel and ride all the way to Donkey Beach. Or make it an 'adventure' and ride to the end of the road past Donkey Beach then hike 15 minutes further to Secret Cove. Chances are you will have it all to yourself!
