All i brought with me were my swim fins and an extra bicep leash I had. I was looking for a legit bodyboard rental and the shops I had been to and/or the beach side rental shacks had boards that just werent up to par. I was down the road at Tamba buying tees and the guy there (thankfully) referred me to Kapaa Beach Shop when I asked if he knew of any places that had quality bodyboard rentals. He told me Mike at KBS rented Mike Stewart Science Bodyboards.... The look of shock on my face was probably photo worthy. I couldnt believe the type of place I had been looking for was just down the road. It was already my 2nd time in Kapaa by that point. Kapaa Beach Shop is on your right side along Kuhio Highway if you are coming from the Lihue area. It's right after Chicken in a Barrel BBQ. It has about 4 dedicated spaces out front in its gravel driveway. They rent everything from beach umbrellas, chairs, bicycles, diving and snorkeling gear... You name it. You need it for the beach, he has it. It was jamming with customers the both times I went there but Mike was gracious and helpful with all of us. I was able to rent a hybrid Mike Stewart Science bodyboard which I used at a few beaches on the island. It was great. Thick board with lots of float to it, making catching waves easier. It also came with a Gyroll bicep leash... It was like a setup I would gladly have every day back home. I'm thankful to Mike for the Aloha and just being super cool in providing a quality rental. We chatted it up a bit and you can tell he is legit and really knows his stuff. I HIGHLY recommend you go see Mike at Kapaa Beach Shop for all your beach rental needs. He is the man. Mahalos Mike! Decided to get a "less cool", non mountain bike, grandpa cruiser bike, in hopes the bike thieves will leave this bike alone. Briggs hooked us up with a great looking grandpa cruiser since we mostly ride down the 7 mile east side beach front bike path. Briggs also rents bikes if you are on vacation and want to ride down the bike path. Briggs also services and does maintenance on our bikes when needed. He just replaced the chain and cables on my beach cruiser.

Immediately Sean made us feel like family, he helped us with not only bikes but several other activities around Poipu and welcomed us with open arms. Not many businesses like this anymore and it's that kind of thing we need in this world. Sean is a local who lives the lifestyle a lot of us dream of living and he is an AWESOME dude. He offered a lot of advice about where to go on our bikes (local hidden gems) and we were so taken back by his willingness to help out a couple newcomers to his side of the island. Usually, in these kinds of places, the locals hide these things from us "mainlanders" but not for us. I am not saying he will give up these spots for you but if you treat him with respect and kindness, he will do whatever he can to make sure you and your crew have an amazing time WHILE using his bikes. On the other hand, if you are snotty and mean, I could see him sending you on a 10 miles uphill bike ride . For us, when we are in Kauai, we will ONLY use Pedego for our bike rentals. I feel like I gained a friend and felt like I had known him for a very long time and if that is not hospitality, I don't know what is. His process is solid, he isn't trying to be the next Trek- he and his family are just trying to live the life we all wish we could. Sean thank you so much for everything. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and had no trouble finding parking. The shop is tucked in a convenient shopping plaza with plenty of restaurants and shops - perfect for grabbing a bite or browsing after a bike ride. What really made this experience great was the service we got from the owner, Robert. Pricing was very reasonable for a 2-hour rental, and helmets were included, even though they were required anyway. The ride itself was beautiful--lots of scenic views, and we easily had enough battery to cover several miles. The bikes had great speed and throttle and were really easy to use. The bikes were very good with great throttle and speed. We had an amazing time and enjoyed our bike ride through Kauai and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the island. In fact, we initially tried to rent from Pedego Electric Bikes Poipu. We called ahead, and they confirmed they were open, but when we arrived, the doors were unlocked and no one was inside the office. We waited for 10 minutes and no staff ever showed up, so we left. Thankfully, Kauai E-Bikes welcomed us right away and we were taken care of immediately. Very fast and efficient paperwork processing and then we were off enjoying our ride. The owner said don't worry if we're weren't back in exactly 2 hours. They were so generous but we came back 15 minutes earlier than expected.

We had a group of seven so we decided to rent E-bikes and go exploring. We got to meet the owners who were very welcoming and pleasant. Really love the Hawaiian hospitality and environment they provided. All the beautiful places they recommended we enjoyed. Great customer service! The E-bikes were very fun and easy to ride. It took us less than a minute to learn how to use them. All bikes came with locks which came in handy when we went into shops and restaurants. Our group had such a great time. We'll definitely be back.

Very quick and easy process. No forms to fill out. This is the cheapest place to rent bikes for the bike path. The bikes are rough "island bikes" ... but you are renting it for a few hours not buying it!! No upsells here. If you want a basket on your bike then grab one with a basket. $20 for 4 hours. The other rental place nearby charges an extra $5 for each basket! Plus they charge $10 more for the rental too. Why pay more? Grab a bike at Kauai Snorkel and ride all the way to Donkey Beach. Or make it an 'adventure' and ride to the end of the road past Donkey Beach then hike 15 minutes further to Secret Cove. Chances are you will have it all to yourself!
