Eco Heads is the best! I've been in LA for a looooong ass time and have gone to many salons from cheap to Beverly Hills bougie types. Justine outdoes them all because unlike most stylists here -- she can color wonderfully AND cut hair with precision! And I am not an easy client as I have long, thick hair and I'm "blessed" with some stubborn gray. ;) I started seeing Justine 8 years ago to do a badly needed color correction and have never looked back. Justine is friendly, respectful and easy to talk to when you are in her chair. Plus if you care about using more eco-friendly products on your hair, you want to use Eco Heads! As for Covid procedures, this is the most precaution I've seen any business take. Justine cares so much about her clients, and it shows. I've tried a lot of clean/green hairstylists in the LA area, and Justine K at Eco Heads is the best! She's been doing my cut and color for over 3 years now. I have fine/thin Asian hair that a) I like to keep long, but b) I'm kinda lazy about blowdrying... Justine knows just how to layer it in a way that creates volume/movement even if I don't style it much on my own. She really listens to what I'm hoping for and then works her magic :) As for products, I'm very sensitive to harsh chemicals and fragrance, so I'm thankful that everything Justine uses on me has been gentle yet effective. She's so detail oriented, friendly and does such great work that I even had her start cutting my one year old's hair. A year later, and my son and I are still going to Kumiko regularly. I have long, straight, fine hair that she puts lovely layers into. My son has a mop that she somehow manages to tame. Kumiko is amazing. I went in for the first time with hair down to my mid back and I wanted to do a long bob. Obviously, I was a bit apprehensive.She spent 15 minutes looking at the hair ideas and inspirations on my Pinterest board and listening to my concerns. I echo Kay F.'s sentiments - I would follow Justine anywhere! She is exceptionally skilled, and can take my "football helmet head of hair" and translate it into the vision of what I want. When I was coloring my hair she did an amazing job (I had almost jet black hair which is not easy to replicate). I eventually developed allergies to the dyes and she went above and beyond to research alternatives for us to experiment with. She is incredibly knowledgable about the efficacy of safe and toxin-free products. A solid 5 stars for Kumiko .She saved my hair( meaning my LIFE)!!! I recently had a bad experience by the new hair salon that has opened near my neighborhood & they pretty much destroyed my hair....had NO layers.. super uneven, I had to curl the bottom to camouflage the mess or to tie my hair. My sister recommended Eco heads so I booked an appointment to get it fix as soon as possible. Kumiko took the time to talk about how I want my hair to be fixed and how she would fix it. I saw Tina about a month ago and it was great! I usually like to just relax and read magazines when I get my hair done, but Tina was great to chat to the whole time and the 4 hours flew by. I haven't had my hair colored in ages and was really excited about doing everything as eco-friendly as possible. I went from brown to red and Tina found a great shade for me and knew I was a warm when I always thought i was a cool. The only thing that was disappointing was that my color faded after a week; it still looks great, but it went from a really bright vibrant red to a more of a strawberry red. Kumiko is THE BEST!!! I hated my thick wavy hair all my life till she cut my hair. I never even thought about wearing my hair down without straighten or permed because my natural hair was nothing but annoying. She cut my hair and told me to put some hair product in while my hair was wet then air-dry it. Guess what!? I had a very nice curly hair!!!!! I have been looking for a more low-key salon that ideally uses eco-friendly products. After reading the reviews of Kumiko, I decided to get a haircut from her. As other reviews have indicated already, Kumiko is wonderful. She is a friendly, down-to-earth stylist who both meets her clients needs and throws in her own creative flair. Not only did she listen to my ideas, she also provided a summary of her plan before she got started. I have found it unusual for a stylist to share her plan so well before getting out the scissors. I love my haircut. Kumiko was thorough, precise, clever, and focused. Her hair-washing and head massage skills make a relaxing start to the appointment. Kumiko seems like a great conversationalist, but happily she will allow her clients (aka me) to sit quietly and read silly magazines without making small talk--this quality is a difficult to find. Lastly, the salon itself is small, mellow, and adorable. It is clean and lovely. Such a great difference from too busy, too bright, too loud salons.
