    They came out to evaluate our furnace but then never called us back. They don't call back on the voicemail I left them either.

TIMELY- Uriel called 30 min before his arrival and then, arrived at the stated time. This is particularly helpful so I can move my bunny to another room with all of his belongings. ATTENTION TO DETAIL - I saw him place a protective cloth down on the floor before he placed the ladder and tools down. I also noticed there was a bottle of cleaner with his supplies. He cleaned the inside vents as well as the compressor on the roof. He also tied off a loose wire/when checking the air handler in the ceiling. KNOWLEDGEABLE and THROROUGH - Uriel did a complete system check and then, he sat down with me to explain what was done and why. He addressed the concerns I had about some of the prior readings in terms that I could understand and shared tips that will help ensure my system runs at its most efficient. Example: A higher MERV doesn't always mean "better" and can actually restrict the airflow. He said that for my particular system I should use a MERV10 filter and change it every 3 months. He changed my filters and then, left me with two spares to use before the fall check comes. FRIENDLY - In the course of chatting with Uriel, it came up that I might benefit from having more filtered air coming into my condo. He made a recommendation for a part that would replace the standalone room air purifier I currently use. He placed this info into the after-visit summary so I can "research it and see if it fits with my needs and finances." There was zero pressure to make a purchase on the spot. And while this next item has nothing to do with the knowledge or ability of an HVAC tech, I greatly appreciate that he did NOT smell like cigarette / e-cigarette smoke or strong cologne as I have a bunny and people in my family have asthma. Thank you, Uriel, for a job well done.

That's exactly what happened, and we're so grateful that Alex came out to help. He responded quickly to my online inquiry and was able to schedule a visit just a few hours later. Our guests at our rental property had reported that the AC was no longer cooling, so we needed assistance fast. Alex arrived with a smile and got right to work. He was friendly, professional, and genuinely pleasant to work with. It's rare to receive this level of customer service from a technician, especially on a holiday when most people are spending time with their families. He quickly diagnosed the issue and replaced the capacitor. He also explained that the new capacitor was made in the USA, unlike the old one that had failed, and that it comes with a 5-year warranty. I really appreciated his attention to quality and transparency. Thank you, Alex, for your outstanding service, quick response, and willingness to help on such short notice. We highly recommend your company and will definitely call again if we ever need HVAC service in the future!

But it's really rare (in my experience) when a service company not only exceeds every expectation but continues to year after year. Krystal is incredible and her attention to follow up and personal communication is the best I've experienced. My system is not new but we did have a new Ecobee thermostat installed a few years back. Huge fan of this company and I'd recommend to anyone! They installed it easily and works (worked haha) perfectly until we had an accident in the attic (by no fault of theirs) that damaged the wire leading to the thermostat. Billy shot right over and diagnosed the issue due to his electrical smarts (and that he can fit up in my attic the size of a mouse trap). Sorry Billy. With old houses and older units, like ours, sometimes rewiring can be really difficult and many times not the best solution. Which was the case in our situation. Instead, the best fix for the wiring issue, was no wiring at all. Thank you technology! Billy suggested installing a wireless remote transmitter on the furnace that could talk to my favorite Ecobee thermostat. Simple solution to an old house problem. The system is up working properly now and it was all done quickly and with no stress. How many times can you say that with a non functioning system in an old house! From the techs and their attention to detail and Krystal and her epic work and customer support, they have my business for life.     James of Western Mechanical exceeded expectations! It took…read moreabout a week and a half to actually get Western Mechanical service during this last heat wave, but I was willing to wait. The reason? Well, one very good reason is their prices for diagnosis and various repairs are listed right on their company webpage. I didn't have to sweat the cost range, or worry about added charges. Western Mechanical noted their expertise in both commercial and residential units, and James was quite familiar with my HVAC type and brand. The item needed to repair the HVAC was in his vehicle, and the process took only about 1 hour. When he had completed the job, I asked him for his honest opinion about the health of my unit;better to plan ahead than suddenly find I have to replace the HVAC. Fair price. Excellent customer service.

Turns out, without my…read moreinitial knowledge, I had it replaced by a company that sold me an A/C and heating rooftop unit for business offices, that WASN'T compatible with residential condos. WESTERN MECHANICAL sent me out a 1st-rate technician named James who ordered me replacement parts that would communicate with BOTH types of systems. THREE OTHER HVAC companies, who were FIRST contacted BEFORE Western Mechanical, DIDN'T have the expertise to figure out a way to get past the parts-incompatibility challenges. I shall never reach out to another San Diego based company again, for this type of troubleshooting, other than Western Mechanical. I had been 2 years languishing in frustration, because nobody else was able to solve how to get business and residential parts speaking to one another. WESTERN MECHANICAL DID IT.
