This is a huge thrift store that is organized, clean, well-priced, has tons of parking, and is a fairly good location in Hayward. It's one of the few thrift stores I've been in that doesn't have that musty, unwashed second-hand smell. I've found so much good stuff there - jars for my wedding decor, dresses for the office, a disco ball, a yard-edging tool, great puzzles and games, baking ware, halloween costumes and wigs, and office supplies. And more! There's also pretty good inventory turnover, so you'll almost always find new items. Also, Eco Thrift is always running sales where you will get 25%, 50% or 75% off various items throughout the store, so you always walk out with a deal. The only problem I've had shopping here is the pricing system - if something doesn't have a price on it, they won't sell it to you. The item goes behind the counter where it is priced and restocked the next day - supposedly. I tried to buy a halloween costume that had a $9.00 tag on the bag. I went and tried the costume on, and somewhere throughout the store the tag fell off. When I tried to pay at the register, they put the dress behind the counter and said to come back the next day, so I did. I actually came back about six days later and fortunately found the costume. However, it had been restocked on the floor but hadn't been repriced. Went through the routine AGAIN and had to come back one more time. I wish they were a little more flexible on the pricing system - many thrift stores will either price the item right there or price it and hold it for you. Overall, what a great place to shop. This a very large thrift store. It's a little dark, a little disorganized... But it can be worth it to sift through all of the clothes to find some really good finds. I don't get to come here often, but I do usually leave with something every time. I had about eight items to try on in the fitting room. There is a five item limit for the dressing room. The lady working there told me it wasn't a problem. I could leave my basket in the common area for the dressing room, put back other items, and then get the rest. Cool. I finished with my first five items. I went back to get my other items. They had been moved. I thought, "weird." But I grabbed my last three items. Upon returning to my dressing room, I found a new person in there. The lady told me that since there was now a line, I would have to go wait in the line again and then I could finish trying on my clothes. I told her that she had not told me that, and that I would not. But not in a mean way. But in a strong, "seriously?" kind of way. While I was finishing up with my other three, this lady started talking about me with her fellow employee. How I claimed I was never told about the rules. Blah blah blah. Not very smooth. I opened up the curtain and said, "Yeah, because you didn't." All while this was happening, the tag on a pair of Banana Republic jeans I wanted to buy had fallen off. They were not on sale and cost $19.95. Eventually, I realized that the tag had been completely lost while I was walking a bit more around the store. I found an employee and explained what had happened, the color of the tag (green) and the price, $19.95. He laughed in my face and said that there wasn't anything that could be done. Now, I understand that people probably pop the tags and try to rip the thrift store off. But if I was trying to do that, wouldn't I have tried to get a better deal by at least saying it was one of the tags that was on sale? Eventually, I found the tag. The same employee told me, "oh you found it... let's see if they will let you buy it..." WELL, THEY DID LET ME BUY IT. I was happy with my jeans purchase... But honestly really over the customer service. I get it. You hate your job. But it's not my fault that you have to work there. read more

I made the cardinal sin of going here on the weekend. This place looked like a scene from a zombie apocalypse movie. People were scattered throughout the aisles and scrambling to get the "good" stuff off the shelves. Every thing was disheveled and looked, honestly, pretty dirty. I didn't bother looking at the clothes, even though everyone seems to rave over their selection. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I will say though, I had a lot of fun looking at the extremely outdated stuff this place had to offer. Where else can you find an old school video tape recorder!? I had twenty dollars in my pocket and I was going to pop some tags but couldn't bring myself to so....I left with twenty dollars in my pocket and went to United Paleteria y Neveria and got me some Mexican dessert instead. read more

Love coming here for some random shopping. Deals 25/50/70% OFF on tags. Rotation is every week based on tags. Main reason I come here is to stock up on little boys clothes before i hit the actual department stores. I have come across great Gymboree, H&M, American Apparel, Guess, Polo, Jordans slightly worn clothing. Most stuff i select in the boys section is mostly $1. HUGE Selection of Jackets for Kids. TOOOOONS of Girl clothes too. I have come accross some good deals for myself. Scored some Brand New never worn leather heels with tags worth $300 for $15, some JCrew Brand New Leather boots from fall 2011 collection for only $10 worth online for $250. Everything I do come across I try to make sure its not super worn. The shoes i have purchased i make sure are new (most of them still have tags or at least the ones i have come accross) Tons of shoes here i have found a few Jimmy Choo, Gucci.... Huge selection of Purses. I scored a Slightly worn Tracy Ellen leather handbag. You would just have to go with tons of time in your hands to go through each isle. They do have a huge selection of Vintage toys in the front of the store. Best time to shop here is Mornings when this place opens. read more

After returning to find more treasures I was treated terribly by another employee, this time a lady, first initial M. I only found three very dirty items today (everything was picked over and the boutique section was still priced very high). I wasn't acknowledged and the cashier spoke fluent English to her coworker but didn't say anything to me and got upset when I asked for separate bags for my heavy items. Even if I didn't spend much, I'd rather my purchases didn't break because the bag couldn't withhold the weight. She ignored me the third time I asked for a bag and didn't give me my receipt and turned away on purpose. I took the receipt myself and left. I don't know what the training is like here, but all of the cashiers/associates behind the counter have never been very helpful or courteous. The Eco Thrift employees in Vallejo are much nicer, knowledgable and don't have a problem bagging. I know it's a thrift, but the items are markedly dirty. Obviously washing any used item is a no brainer, but some of the things here today were flat out disgusting. I probably won't be back for a while. read more

It's actually been two years since I last came, and my opinion hasn't changed! The store is huge and compared to my local thrift store (where I only shop if there's a sale or I have coupons!), the selection is much better. Even if I don't buy them, I always find great things here! I like that most of the tops I looked through were $0.99-2.98. And have I mentioned the bag aisle!? I saw two nice purses and I wish I bought one! Even though there's no coupons, or at least none that I know of, I love that there's 25%, 50% and 75% off (THREE different tag colors!) This review is for the clothes section ONLY. They have a very large selection to go through, it took me almost my whole lunch break to go through two aisles! But be careful to check what you grab, a lot of the clothes are stained or have sizes in wrong sections. Aisles are very messy. Things I gotten here for very little money: Gymbo clothes for kids, Hannah Andersson clothes for kids, Skip Hop diaper bag, curtain rods, movies, games, puzzles, kids books. Things I would not buy here if I were paid to do so: lingerie. If you hate germs and people, avoid on weekends. I only go M-F. I also forget all pleasantries and formalities, stick out my elbows, and barrel down the aisles looking for bargains. This is probably one of the busiest and largest thrift stores I have ever been to! I usually like going to thrift stores because you can find the most awesome treasures for cheap! However, parking can get preeeeetttty difficult! They have a large selection of clothes and quite a variety of electronics (which I'm usually on a hunt for). What I LOVE about this place is the fact that they will mention if an item is untested or if there is some sort of system error when buying electronics. What I'm unsure of is if you're capable of testing it before you actually purchase the item. But I feel that the overall dynamic would allow you to, so don't hesitate to ask! They have a LARGE selection of everything--from jewelry, clothes, 3-hole punchers, bike pumps and hard drives. You can definitely perceive this as THE COSTCO of thrift stores. One of the things I DO hate about the store is the fact that more of the expensive items are behind the counter, which is a bit difficult to try to take a look at. You have to ask an associate to be able to look at the items hidden behind the counter, which is a little frustrating especially on a busy day. The prices on the items are VERY FAIR. I even saw an iPad marked as $50!! If you're a techy and know how to fix everything, this is definitely a place to go to! read more

This is the best thrift store I've been too. Why? They have no-nonsense pricing and discounts. The procedure for discounted items are by a color system, and it changes every week (Sunday morning I think). No BS as to changing prices based on what some employee feels. No tags, sorry, no sale. Come back Monday. I had a great time coming here, every time I came here. I was in the bay area for 3 weeks and I was here...a lot. Got a real nice leather briefcase for $35, made by a saddlemaker in San Salvador, El Salvador. It was made of thick hard leather, maybe a shade or two less in quality than a $900+ Filson all-leather briefcase (the one that is supposed to last through your career and you pass it on to your son). I bet this one I got will last just as long as the Filson one. Good prices on books and magazines. Some thrift stores have 10 cent mags, 25 cent mags, but here they are 75 cents BUT discounted per color. And these are not your usual Time and the like magazines. They are on architecture, luxury travel and lifestyle, and cooking mags. Still a cheap form of reading entertainment. Here's why this is the best: $500 Ferragamo wingtips for $10!! Hardly freaking used! I know there's a lot of rich folks here in the bay area...well I am happy with what I got. AND, an Alden pair, medium use, still a lot of life left - $5! I have to admit I probably just got lucky, but there were many other deals. Ecco shoes for $10-30. Well it really is about what you think the item is worth. I have spent hours here sifting through about at least half of the several aisles in this store. It is addicting looking for and finding unique and interesting pieces. Whenever I come here I end up spending way more than I should and buying things I absolutely do not need. They have everything. I also LOVE the daily sales they have where price tag colors coincide with whether it is a 75%, 50%, or %25 discount on an item- every day! Another feature I like is there are a good number of dressing rooms, and plugs to try out electronic devices. I've decorated my apartment primarily with trinkets and frames from Eco Thrift. No joke. And my place is pretty neat if I do say so myself. I have also found some of my most unique clothing items in here as well. I found a lovely skirt, a couple, jackets/blazers, a real leather bag for $3, and gifts for my sister's new place... shhhh! Don't tell her. I love this place! I drive past it all the time and have to focus and grip the steering wheel to make sure I don't "accidentally" turn in there when I'm on my way to work. It's like your favorite Salvation Army or Good Will but with better stuff, better organization (clothing sorted by size!) and calmer atmosphere. Yes, and it is a little pricier. Like $3 for a sweet pair of pants instead of $1.50. And they don't smell like cat pee. This is the best place I've ever found to shop for shoes. I needed some dressy black shoes for a party a few weeks ago and I found at least eight pairs in good condition that fit me. The winners? Looked brand new for $2.40 I do a lot of photography and I drop by here all the time to scavenge for frames. Sometimes I'll find nice wood 11 X 14s for $1 - 2, just have to tear out the awful Thomas Kincaid print inside. Sorry Tom. I also scored other good random things here: a blowdryer ($1.50), a little boom box for the backyard ($2), a lamp ($5), board games ($1-2). I love going to this place. If you want your thrift store to feel like a huge garage sale with a bunch of random crap, then this is the place for you. We went here with the intention of checking out the furniture and the overall store. The furniture was dingy, cheap, and really overpriced. As for everything else in the store: wow. You're reselling used plastic coffee mugs? Does anyone really want that? We did find a few margarita glasses and a pretty black tray with colorful California poppies on it (the rim of the tray is cracked, but the design is so pretty that we couldnt pass it up). Eco Thrift. You suck mega. I have visited this location a few times since discovering it. I am an avid thrift store hound and I surely find my deals at my regular spots. I figured I would drop into eco thrift for a change of pace. Staples in my clothing and delicate slips? check. Messy disorganized clothing racks? check. total rip off on the random and insane prices? CHECK! If I wanted to spend $149.99 on a tacky polyester suit- I hope it is through a teleportation machine that sends me right back to Saks Fifth Avenue in 1974. $39.99 for stained western shirts? WHY? $79.99 for a Lucky Jeans jacket? FOR REAL?! If you want to charge those kinds of prices, then clean up the damn place for crying out loud. Salvation Army seems like Harrods in London in comparison, except eco thrift THINKS it's Harrods of London with it's pricing. I just can't believe people walk out with armfuls and paying top dollar. You can shop for vintage cheaper in San Francisco at the boutiques- and with the luxury of flipping through organized racks. Why this place goes under the guise of 'thrift store' I will never understand. Rip-off emporium is more like it!!! read more

This thrift store has the highest prices in the bay area, hands down. Which seems to be due to the cost of what they buy their used goods for and their discount/color tag system. They rotate which color tags are discounted, weekly; with 3 different colors identifying a percentage discount - 25%, 50% and 75%. Items that do not sell at the 75% discount end up getting smashed up in a giant trash compactor located in the back of the building. Anything that you find at eco-thrift that is in good condition will be priced exactly like it were brand new at retail, or in many cases - higher! Example #1: 12 oz plastic sterilite storage container from the 90's, priced at .99 cents (sold for . 75 cents in the 90's) .... A brand new 16 oz plastic sterilite container is .99 cents at walmart and/or target. Example #2: used Jordans barely used for 74.99. I saw the same exact Jordans at the Nike outlet for 49.99 and that pair was brand spanking new. Clothing is over priced. Toys are over priced. Their "boutique" items are behind a counter and are reeeeaaaallllllly over priced. Waste of time... unless you like getting robbed by a thrift store. read more

I have been an avid thrifter at the Ecothrift in Vallejo and had high hopes for this one since it carries the same name. I was super excited too because I was told it was larger but bigger is not always better. First off, it's almost too big for me, to the point where I get overwhelmed. And what's weird is, although this is bigger I feel like I never find anything here. It is also higher priced than the one in Vallejo so even if I might find something, it's almost always more than what I'm willing to pay. However, with any thrift store, if you just dig and pay attention to the discounts you could snag something worthwhile. I can't skip out on this store when I'm in the area, but admittedly, I go in with the mentality that I may not find anything and that's ok. read more

This place ROCKS! I'm a big fan of thrift stores and this one is HUGE, their new location has better parking and is much bigger then the previous place by Fairway. Some items can be a tad bit over priced, but most are pretty reasonable. (I have seen 7 jeans there priced for $90.00!). Who are they kidding ?? You can get new ones at Ross for $60. BUT I got some awesome cowboy boots here the other day for $10! yeehaw! Sounds like its time for me to wear these bad boys to The Saddle Rack ;) I highly recommend checking this place out even if you're just curious. One of my favorite thrift stores due to the variety of things with great prices. You're guaranteed to leave with something every time you go. Minus 2 stars due to overcrowding especially during a pandemic...I literally get frustrated here because the aisles are always packed and it makes it hard to look at things. There has to be a limit because the amount of people in here at once not respecting 6ft rules is insane. I also wish they'd restock things before the store opens or after they close because the workers with huge carts get in the way as well on top of too many people being in here makes it ten times harder to shop. read more

This spot is really cluttered with the usual thrift store junk. You can find a lot of cool stuff here. But you do have to dig and hunt for it! Mostly cause clothes are not in its actual size section. Good shoes you see behind the counter has no match on the floor, meaning they save them or get hidden for people. The service there is really rude and ignore you most of the time unless you get rude and damn near cause a scene! The majority of stuff is priced good. But I think who ever does the pricing gets carried away! I've seen a beat up faded shirt priced at $5.99 just cause of a Nike swoosh, but the regular rate for nicer shirts going for $1.99. That's just crazy to me!? Same with books! the ridiculous price on some old Nintendo games that had been sitting there every time I go in! $18 for game at a thrift store!? I must be going to non profit thrift stores a lot, cuz this fella felt so different for some reason. There were staff all around, keeping an eye on the stock and hand and frequently restocking and straightening things up. But with all that, things were pretty cheap. There was a large variety of stuff, clothes, electronics, books, shoes, housewares. Huge parking lot that filled up by midday. This place is huge, which is a plus and a minus. It's a plus in that it's a large selection, a minus in that it's quite the task to sift through it all. I killed a couple hours in here and easily could have gone a bit longer had they not closed. I looked through their men's clothing mostly, but also found some good deals on things ranging from baseball bats to watches. They had a pretty sizable collection of books that I only briefly got to glance at. Pricing in general was pretty solid. I saw t-shirts as cheap as $1 and overcoats and leather jackets reaching the low-$100s. There were quite a few things that I thought were overpriced because of brand name, but there were also a lot of high-quality goods which were underpriced; most things I thought were right around where they should have been. There is a lot of crap to sift through (house brands from JC Penny, Target, Walmart, etc.), but there is a good mix of higher quality stuff to, ranging from mall stores like Banana Republic and J.Crew to higher-end shirting like Charles Tyrwhitt and Tailorbyrd. I even found a Zegna shirt. I can't speak to the complaints regarding the women's section, but I thought the pricing for menswear was more than fair. Merchandising is great. Everything is organized by size. There is so inevitable mixing (most likely from customers putting stuff back in the wrong place), but I saw employees hard to work putting things back and organizing. Minor complaint: they staple price tags to things. Most times they do it in a place that won't actually matter, like a tag, but I've seen a few that might be visible to perceptive bystanders. The only thing that makes me a little wary is that they are privately owned. They do apparently have a few alliances with local non-profits, so I will have to look further into those relationships. If they're doing good for the community, I will definitely be a regular here. read more

Why the heck would I buy something used and blemished for the same price as new?? I mostly browse kitchen wares and women's accessories. I've yet to take a really good look at clothing. I love this place! I don't go here for clothes even though it looks like a huge selection, I go here for the books and their collectible section. They have so many great finds. For instance, I bought an Anastasia trinket music box made from the San Francisco Music Box Company for $9. Originally it was marked for $34, but its' sticker color was the 75% off color. This place was terrible. Selection is odd and uneven. The women's shoe section had about 13 pairs of shoes. The kids section had a bunch of stained clothes? I won't even break down the negatives on this one. It's over priced, and bit stuck up given the fact that there are so many other t-stores that kick ass out here. I was in there for about 30 minutes (as oppose to \my 90) and cut out empty handed. Take an extra 5 minutes and drive up Mission Blvd and hit the thrift spot in front of BK. I go to Thirft stores for 2 reasons: Furniture and Clothing. This Eco Thrift mainly for clothing. They have a wide selection of clothes categories, one in particular that was very popular and a heavy amount of women were in was their Vintage aisle. I didn't find anything great, or in my size, but I was with me kids for one reason alone - which was to get some jeans for my son. If you're a parent of young boys, you'll know they go thru jeans quick. The knees start to tear and get gradually bigger and bigger. So, instead of buying him a new pair every so often, I decided to hit up the thrift store. $0.95 to $2 jeans? All from brands like Cherokee Brand at Target, Levis, Gap and H&M!! I walked out with 2 pairs of jeans for $4! I could've gotten more, but I wouldn't mind taking another trip again - this time without the boys, so mommy can thrift vintage a l o n e. read more

Quick story: My mum doesn't like being recognized at thrift stores, she gets embarrassed I guess. My aunt, who looks a lot like my mom shops exclusively at thrift stores, though she won't admit it. So, when we pulled into the parking lot, my mom said "someone is going to recognize us". I doubted it, but sure enough, some random lady claimed they knew my mum and as I was in the aisle next to hear I could hear my mother say "no, I am pretty sure we have never met". Then she proceeded to give this stranger a fake name and fake stories as to why she was in a thrift store. I digress... I had passed this place a few times while driving down mission and I always thought it was a store to buy "green" products. The parking lot was full, which should be a good sign. When I walked in I was taken aback by the dim lighting and warehouse-style interior. There was a jewelry section that had insignificant disney watches and what was probably fake gold. The clothes rack was organized by style and size which was helpful but the clothes selection was very limited. As I walked around the store, I kept smelling a foul (possibly urine) smell coming from the employees only section in the back. I swore I also smelled someone food, which is just as disgusting. They have a pretty good book and electronic selection but items tended to be way overpriced. I found a really cute vintage coin purse only to loose it somewhere else in the store. Most of the other purses where either extremely dated or obvious knock offs. At checkout (my mom found some stuff) I noticed an expansive selection of Ed Hardy tees (eww) and other random items that they again probably overpriced. I probably would have enjoyed spending more time in here had they turned a fan and some lights on. I think it was for that reason that I walked out of here extremely unimpressed, and I'm a thrift store shopper, which means I am not hard to please. read more

I always enjoy thrifting for unique and quirky items, my closet is full of sweet finds like vintage jackets, old school blazers, leather accessories, and random articles of clothing I'll probably never wear. But I'm OK with that, because most of the items were bought for under $5 to $10. They have weekly sales that rotate throughout the store but some items are pretty unreasonable for a thrift store. I'm not sure who manages the pricing, but it baffles me if they think someone would pay retail price for a second hand item. A major downside of the store is the fact that employees let children run a muck up and down every aisle. I had a kid run into my shins while he rode one of those metal tricycle around. One of the employees just walked past him and didn't both saying anything to the kid's parent. Another thing is despite having so many employees on the floor, it's pretty messy. Love this location. Its a big store with very organize sections. I found plenty of kids clothing for back to school. I rather buy my kids clothes from here then the actual stores. They outgrow their clothing so fast, its not worth buying at full price. I found some nice gap jeans, kids Polo Raulph Lauren polos and some nice North Face Jackets. This is the first time in a long time that I've been to a thrift shop not that I'm against it or anything... My mother went on and on about this thrift store and she'd only gone once so I decided to accompany her on her second trip there. As you walk into the Eco-Thrift store it's not much to look at, you'll be lucky to find anything in the racks with tops. I'm surprised they would even sell some of the tops they do, but I WAS able to find some tops for work that looked brand new at around $1.98-2.98. When you get into the jeans section, that's where I was amazed they have a variety of name brand jeans, and some of the obvious jeans like seven and citizen jeans they priced higher at $9.98-14.98, but they were barely worn... I managed to snag me a pair of Lucky Jeans for $6.98. I spent $40 and I was able to get 4 tops, 1 pair of jeans, 2 dress pants, a scarf, and Steve madden flats (brand new). I was very impressed by what I spent and what I got!!! I will definitely be coming here again! read more

I don't understand how a new location can have a bathroom WAY DIRTIER AND STINKIER than the old location! dudes. please buy a fan+air freshener dispenser+cleaning products. please. for the love of god. people have to pee when they commit two hours to thrifting. read more
