Update: Upon leaving my original review, the shop reached out to me via Yelp asking for my phone number to call and make things right. At that point in time I made peace with their response to my review and told them that we could move on. I thought that I could lay the matter to rest and focus on my family during this sad time. Four weeks after my dad's passing, I was beginning to open up again to the world, when I went to my in-laws' home. My MIL had a letter addressed to me; even she was perplexed. It was from Starr. In a gross violation of my privacy, Starr wrote me a handwritten letter using my in-laws' address from their order. In her letter Starr claimed that she did not have my information due to me declining to share it and so she used my in-laws' payment information to find her way to me. Her letter was one full page, front and back, of defending herself and telling me stories of how she is a truly exemplary employee, even staying behind at the store extra late for another order. This letter did two things: 1) it reopened my wounds from feeling like I was unseen and unheard in one of my truest moments of vulnerability and 2) showed me that she still had no awareness of the pain she had caused since she did not apologize and instead told me stories of how she treated other people better than me. I then reached back out to the manager via Yelp to ask for a phone number and good time to talk to discuss something. They told me to just call the store number and stopped responding when I asked for a good time to be sure to speak with the right person. I decided not to pursue the matter because, honestly, it hurt like hell having to deal with this on top of my grief. It has now been 3 months since my father passed, since this all started, and I tried to let it go, but I decided to write this update. Albeit delayed, I think people should know the way this matter was handled -- vindictively with self-interest and an outright disregard for the reason why people need their service in the first place. Great service. Lovely floral arrangement with minimal directions. But the location is very discrete where you don't even know where the shop is located. However, they did walk out and handed the product over to me like a drug dealer. Super hush hush and quick. I took a star off because I thought the corsage was very very pricey. Ordered the Lyal Nickals exclusive: Mr McGregors Garden as it caught my eye with the pretty arrangement of pinks with rustic, yet cute touches. Everything was done online and questions answered via email...delivery made in the window requested and overall, seamless process. *** 4 - 4.5 stars! *** I would say what was ordered and what was received was not quite what was online as it didn't have the height (arranged manzanita branches) or colors (more yellows and use of green cymbidums vs pink) but it was 90% as expected and still a beautiful arrangement. I love this neighborhood flower shop! It's one that I've passed by countless of times growing up in the area yet I've only been here once prior to my most recent visit (just so you know, it was definitely for high school prom over a decade ago!) My most recent visit was to get a small bouquet arranged for a friend who I hadn't seen in a while. It was important to me that the flowers were professionally arranged and not simply purchased from a market. I was looking for that extra touch and Lyal Nickals certainly delivered once again. I spoke with Star on the phone who was extremely lovely to work with. She answered all my questions, gave me an option within my price range, and was patient with me as I undoubtedly asked some fairly simple questions. Thanks to her and the team, I was able to get a three-rose set with all the fixings for about $16 and was able to surprise my friend. During the pandemic, they are not allowing visitors into their stores. You will need to call in advance to set up an order and arrange a pickup time. Thursday June 14th, 2018. I get a text from the mother-in-law telling me very last minute that I have been invited to go to my little brother-in-law's HS graduation ceremony. WHAT?! OK THAT'S COOL, I GOT THIS! I immediately thought to get him flowers, but bouquets are not his style. Next best thing: Leis! I promptly go on Yelp to check which florist nearby was able to accommodate to my odd, last minute request. I was immediately answered by a lovely lady who's name I did not catch and I swear I thought she was an answering machine by the way she picked up the phone (I AM SO SORRY IF I OFFENDED YOU MA'AM!). She informed me that there was a few leis available but I was trying to cater to the preferences of my lil bro-in-law. I know there was a white and purple lei she tried to sell me but I knew the lil guy would not appreciate it (if it was for me, however, that's another story...). After about 10 mins going back and forth (and some luck!), I was able to reserve and pay for an all-white lei with blue and yellow ribbon decor on it. Fast forward to 1:30 pm: pick up time. OK honestly I arrived like 10-15 mins earlier, which was a shocker on my end because I cook for a living and I just came from work and WHAT EVEN IS A SCHEDULE?!?!? I arrive with very warm greetings (this place smells AMAZING btw!) and smiles. I gave them my name and a quick description of what I ordered. The lady who assisted me (ONCE AGAIN I HAVE FAILED TO RETAIN THE NAME OF THE AMAZING STAFF MEMBER) goes to the fridge in the back and presents the lei and OH MY GOD IT'S BEAUTIFUL YET SIMPLE AND JUST WOW (and why am I giving this away again? Oh that's right, GRADUATION!). It was beautiful. And that still stands true today. I spent my 40th birthday in isolation, tearfully closing my small business, stressed out-pandemic style. It's been one of the worst, second to the year my dad died and my best friend was in hospice. However, my mom sent me two dozen roses in this big, gorgeous bouquet on Tuesday. It is the saving grace and brings me a smile, calms me with its beautiful scent. The only downside is the roses immediately began to wilt and fall apart, lost three whole roses the second day. My only guess is that this is due to the pandemic, quality of flowers available, delivery, etc., as decades of their arrangements have never had this issue. Honestly a bit disappointed in my prom corsage this year. I paid $45 for this and the flowers were too small. The slap on bracelet made my wrist itchy the entire day/night so I ended up taking it off and only putting it on for photos.
