TAGS opened where The Shoe Place once was . TAGS is a non-profit community service org. whose goal is "serving teens and young adults through creative reuse programs". All proceeds generated are used to for teenadvocacy.org Offerings: clothes, shoes, accessories, artisans' creations.... Was greeted warmly, cordially by team leaders Haley & Ian. Obviously most of the clothes weren't my size. Was introduced to a rad XL shirt that had a ridiculous price ($7). Sadly, it wasn't a fit. May have been a women's XL. Labels were removed. The artisan creations looked interesting. Don't know where i can put them. Will return to check out shirts... Street parking only. TAGS is on a corner. read more

I love thrifting and finding treasures and I finally got the chance to visit this cute thrift store. Lynn was immediate at welcoming me and while I only had a managed to find the cutest Mickey Mouse (from Disney) t-shirt for $10. They have handmade items created by local teens, a board where notes can go up. This shop not only supports teens, it offers upcycling workshops, gives teens jobs, and simply a great cause behind it all. Will definitely stop by again!!! read more

This is my favorite thrift store, the staff and helpful are friendly, the selection is always great, and I love that it's sorted my measurement size and not gender. And it's a great cause! There's a section for accessories that were made by local young people. read more

I dropped off some clothes a couple weeks ago. The girl that helped me out was really cool! I learned that this store is open to the public. During my browsing it looks like they had some good items to choose from. With the money generated they return it back and help young adults and teens from 15 to 23 I'm not mistaken with classes and probably some other stuff that I can't recall. A great place to donate and to buy. Keep in mind donations are looked through that way they can keep a good inventory and I'm totally fine with that! read more

After putting it off to come to check this hidden gem in San Leandro, I finally made my way. I was greeted by Lynn who was welcoming and we chatted while I scan the clothing racks. A little while, a tall young lad entered the store and as well welcomed me and thanked me for coming to visit TAGS. Cute, organized, and clean. Came in looking for something specific but I couldn't find it. The woman at the counter introduced the store and how they organized the clothing. I combed through all the racks but found mostly basics, not much to catch my eye. I ended up finding a dress at the entrance of the store that was nice. There's also a fitting room but with monkeypox I'm not taking any risks. The majority of the clothing I saw was between $5-12. I also asked if they bought clothing since there was a sign that said they had buying programs. The worker said they weren't buying at the moment. So I donated a box of clothes and jewelry I had in my trunk that I was going to take to goodwill. I hope donations here go further than they will at goodwill. The worker went through the clothing, I think to make sure things were in wearable condition. Overall nice shop to check out. read more

The very friendly staff are primarily young people from the local community learning about merchandising, sales, marketing and promotion centered around the importance of considering the environment. In addition to having great second hand clothes at great prices, TAGS offers free creative workshops for teens that center around environmentally friendly projects and reuse. Love this place, and love what they stand for! I'm a youth worker and can't wait to bring my students here. Lynn, the founder, is so sweet. The shop is very clean and organized, and doesn't have a musty smell like some thrift shops do. Amazing store! Perfect mix of both vintage and newer brands. Prices are super fair. Very clean, organized, and friendly. Comfortable dressing room with full size mirror. Loved the denim selection specifically -- found a pair of Lee coveralls, and striped Levi's overalls. Also, TAGS is a local non-profit supporting teen advocacy so your money goes to a great cause.
