I had a busy Saturday and started calling all the Firestones I had nearby as an oil change was needed ASAP! I called and they were honest on how busy they were , but were willing to take my car in. I decided to run other errands and I got a call back about an hour after stating how additional Personnel came in and how they would have my car ready sooner , which I took my car in and only waited like an hour and a half . The system was giving the wrong pricing for the filter and the one in charge ( Christopher) called it in so that I would not over pay . My wife and I took her car which recently had its catalytic converter replaced (weeks ago) to be smogged and told them to check the readiness of the catalytic's monitor before running it. They ran the car anyways, which failed, then came back and told us the catalytic converter wasn't ready and to keep driving it. This was the exact reason we asked them to check it first, and they ran it anyways (and this part happened when I was at work, so she had to go solo to the shop). When my car needs tires, smog, or alignment its goes straight to Econo Firestone. Jay is the MAN. His knowledge and experience is apparant anytime I contact him with questions or recommendations. Jay helped me make a decision on tires when it was time to replace all four and the final total with alignment was unbeatable. Free tire rotations every 4,000 miles and a chance to chat with Jay is just an added bonus. I work at a Land Rover repair shop. When customers ask me where to take their vehicles for tires, alignment, or smog testing, my reply is, "Talk to Jay at Econo Firestone." Alignments for Land Rovers can be a nightmare. If the alignment is off even a smidge the air suspension system could fault out. We have never had any issues with the 4-Wheel alignments done here. Terrible service. I bought tires online to have drop shipped close to my location so I can pick up and take to my mech to install. They refused to release the tires to me. Stated they have to install the tires. Wanted to charge me $123.00 to install 4 tires wich is outrageous price. I feel like they are just bullying me to get the business. Kind of a sketchy place. My car began to overheat on van buren Blvd and took to nearest repair shop. Which was this Firestone place, I knew I needed my radiator replaced so after talking to Kirk and some inquiry decided to have work performed. Dropped off car at 930 picked up at 3ish. Seems to be working fine. I just wanted to say that this place might seem shabby but it appears they do good work for about half the cost of a dealer, where I originally was on my way too before I overheated. Thank you Kirk for your honesty. And I want to tell you Kirk and whoever reads this review, that "God is good!!" OMG I am so undeserving and wicked but by his mercy and grace my Lord is always by my side. I hope you take the time to read my short book. Sadly, I have nothing good to say about Econo Firestone any longer. 6 years ago I had posted a 5 star review after they had serviced my Dodge truck and my wife's car. My brother, my son, and my employees were also taking their vehicles to them. Because six years ago they did good work with a quick turn around and backed up the work they did. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. I followed my son to Econo a month ago to drop off his truck due to a check engine light on the dash. They tested and said it was a catalytic converter problem. They also said he needed a new timing chain. My son told them that the truck had also been over heating. So please fix that also. Now mind you. They replaced both catalytic converters in 2013. Approximately 2 years ago, they replaced one of them again. But they claimed that this one was not one they had replaced prior. In fact for longest time they denied that they had replaced both catalytic converters until I told them to check thoroughly on their computer. Well, they found it. So several weeks later. My son still doesn't have his truck back, (Which they know, he uses for work most every day). They told him that they don't have a special tool they need to replace the timing chain. Said they had ordered the tool and were waiting to receive it. But everything else has been repaired, including a new radiator and thermostat. After a third week waiting my son took his truck back. Still needing the timing chain replaced, he took it to the closest reputable auto repair shop near him. They had the timing chain replaced, and back to him in one day. It didn't take my son long to find that the overheating problem he had paid to be repaired, was still a problem. He took it back to Econo. They claimed it needed a new radiator cap. Said that they replaced it and it no longer overheats. He had already paid them to replace the entire radiator. Why wouldn't they have put on a new and correct cap? He got the truck back a couple days later, to find that it was still over heating. He took his truck back to the place that installed the new timing chain in one day, and they found that the thermostat was stuck and they replaced it. Meaning that my son's truck probably didn't need the new radiator or the new cap. His truck no longer overheats. He drove the truck over 50 miles to make sure that the dash sensor light stayed off, so his truck would pass a smog test. The dash engine light came back on. After paying Econo over $2,000 at this point, and them never being able to replace the timing chain. My son was getting irritated. Now I want you to know that Econo Firestone mechanics are the only people to work on the catalytic converters of my son's truck period. Well after he and I took his truck back to Econo yesterday morning, for the sensor light problem. We didn't hear back. So my son called today. We were told there must be a short in the wiring to the sensors. At this point, we are livid. Myself, my son, my employees and all of my family are done with Econo Firestone on Arlington Avenue in Riverside. We will never take a vehicle to them again. If you don't want to be a victim of shoddy and incomplete repairs. Then I suggest you find a different auto repair shop. Life can be difficult as it is. Why ad unnecessary aggravation to the mix? read more

Horrible experience. I took my car to get a diagnosis on why my air conditioning wasn't working. I waited an hour for them to come back and tell me my compressor was broken and I would have to replace it for close to $1000. I left disappointed because at the time I didn't have the money, I thought it just needed a simple recharge or the mg clutch fuse was blown and that was exactly the case.... I took it to another mechanic because I was skeptical and they fixed my ac for $80 and the compressor was just fine. He told me my compressor was disconnected and the fuse was taken out! "I wonder who did it??" Moral of the story don't trust these guys. read more

Just had my 2nd smog check done here Wednesday (11/23/2016) ... I checked my car in at 8:30am, went across the street for some coffee, and it was done by the time I got back! Since another reviewer said they had to wait for the smog the tech. to show up, I called first to make sure s/he was in. The groupon worked perfect. I've also taken my Ford Excursion there, because I thought it may need new ball joints, but in the end, it didn't... It did need an alignment, and one of the front wheel bearings tightened. They honored a yelp deal for the smog, had a good price for the oil change. Got a call about an hour after drop off and they said I needed front rotors too. Do not bring your car here. They lack basic customer service skills. My car didn't pass the smog and I had to pay for a retest. They don't tell you that upfront. My car didn't pass because I lost my gas cap and had it replaced the check engine light popped on because of the gas cap missing. I had to have the computer board reset and that was the only reason it didn't pass. But overall I will not bring my car here for anything they just don't have the customer service I like especially the one white guy in the front. Not Jay but the other one read more

I was using Firestone for a few years they really seemed to do well, then one day my brakes came up, they said you need brakes but your rotors are fine. I come in a week later they tell me all my rotors need to be replaced, red flag went up instantly, they now wanted $950 from $400 for front and back brakes. I decided for another opinion and went to big O tires they said you don't need any rotors your front brakes are still at 40% front and back brakes only $450. This firestone store are just thieves. They lost all my business my wife and daughter also. Shame on you Firestone! read more

I purchased a Groupon for a $24 smog check. Great deal!? WRONG! I went to redeem. The day before I had my "service engine" light cleared a couple days before. I had put over 50 miles, which usually allows the onboard computer to readjust after the reset. My car did not pass due to the computer not fully resetting and another code. They recommended that I drive some more miles to help reset. I then asked " i won't be charged again?". They said yes I would need to pay again. I mentioned that most smog check places will recheck for no cost at all. I was told I wouldn't need to pay again... If I allowed them to work on my car. I told him that was unethical. He then agreed to check my computer before charging me again. I figured $24,$24 and $9 for the certificate. Which is almost $60 that other places will charge you anyway. I drove almost 40 miles on city streets and came back. They checked and said the code prevented the computer to adjust. When I asked for proof... I was told they doubt the computer reset. I asked for proof again. I asked 2 other people. The last person said they would do it if I wanted. Which by this point I didn't even care. I don't trust them. I would not go there again read more
