The door to the room does not shut without significant force. The bathroom door has graffiti on the back. The tub has burn marks all over it. Combined with the room that has an ammonia smell, I can't help but assume a lot of drugs have been used in this room. If you can afford to stay elsewhere, do it! read more

Beware of Eva Garcia and the manager Sam. These two workers are in cahoots of some very strange activity. My room had a hole in the restroom, which seemed like the worker Eva "lives in" was apparently watching from the crack in the wall when I brought it to the manager Sam's attention he told me I the customer need to change rooms. First of all I'm a choice rewards member Diamond so this should and will be reported to them because who else are victims ?? How many others did they peep on. this woman has been watching how many people and doing what exactly?. I have children and we stayed there and now I'm confused as to what exactly those two were behind . Beware of any cracks and holes. Double check everything but if you could avoid staying here definitely spend your money elsewhere. Very sketchy very unsafe. Very money hungry. PLEASE DINT STAY HERE. I found BODY HAIR or ALL TYPES in the bathroom, even fake eyelashes. The outside looks wonderful but the inside has not been redone since the 1960's. With the exception of the room they advertise. I called the office to get them to fix my TV, they never answered. I was told they have juice in the morning , and there was none, I told them about it and they said they ran out of stock- they lied. They should have stated that when I checked in. I called the 800 number to make a complaint and even corporate called them and they would not answer. This hotel is so below standard for Econo Logde. read more

One star is to much, worst stay i had in my life! Super dirty, when we came in every smelled extrem like chloride, so much that this might be easily health impacting. Booked a hotel room for 1 night. We were going to be getting in late, so i double checked that their office was open 24/7 so we could check in when we got there. We pulled up and the open sign was on. The door to the office was locked. All the lights were on but no one was there. We knocked and rang the doorbell for 30 minutes and no one came. We were just passing through and were tired. If you claim to be open 24/7 then you need to have someone there at all times. It was a nightmare, do not recommend. read more

I've been warned that staying in Barstow is like staying in Skid Row. Okay, not that bad. But plenty of homeless do hang around Main Street. As for me, I have no complaints. Where I stayed at Econolodge felt kind of tucked away from the action, and it was worth it. It is basic, but it was nice at the same time. Workers were friendly, and room was good. As a frequent traveler and highest status with the Choice rewards program, I am many nights in hotels during the year. Here is my experience at this property - made reservation on the app - showed up to check in - lobby closed - (blamed covid) - front desk took my ID and credit card - clerk came back - asked if i needed one bed or two- after 3-4 minutes - was invited inside the lobby to wait for the key - when i signed the registration - I noticed my travel number was not at the top and the rate changed - upon further review / questions to the clerk I found out that the clerk did not use my reservation at all - just made a new room reservation - at the HIGHER rate no less - when i mentioned this, the clerk said she did not see a reservation under my name - which I showed my resv. number from the app - and she did not see it? OR - more likely, they created another reservation at the higher rates to make more money ... the clerk said she asked about a reservation - she did not - but said it in a way as if she was calling me a liar - not nice.. finally - the hotel takes photo copies of your ID and Credit Card - which is totally unnecessary in today's electronic world - having copies of my ID and credit card out there at random hotels is troubling and risky - as one does not know what they do with the copies, what employees have access to that info, and how long they keep those copies - so I choose not to stay at hotels that copy them - I did stay at another property - and had to call the hotel and notify Choice to have my money returned, as the property is still trying to keep the money, even though I left - the outside property observations - pool not full / closed - lobby closed / no breakfast available - did not stay inside a room to review those - but had seen enough with this independent hotel would avoid this particular Econo Lodge - as all our typically owned by a family - and one does not reflect another - but avoid this one. read more

The staff were very friendly and kind. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome! The bed was clean as was the bathroom. The towels were bright white without stains. The only drawback to me was they allow smoking in the rooms. I have asthma and it was a difficult night. I am accustomed to Choice Hotels being smoke free. read more

Don't stay here. I was researching budget friendly motels around the area and happened to find this one which had quite a few positive reviews so I gave it a shot. Upon walking in, I started to think any positive review had to have been fake. The room was disgusting. There was stains EVERYWHERE. On the walls, the towels, the chair, the shower, sink, you name it. There was a dead bug in the toilet and about 5 other ones flying around the bathroom. I have stayed at budget friendly motels before so I know what to expect but this was something from a movie. The fact that I paid $75 for this ($55 for the room and $20 for the pet fee) blows my mind. Just clean the damn bathroom and put in a new shower curtain and put in an ounce of effort into making this feel like I'm not going to catch something. There was also writing in pencil all over the closet door.. why not just erase it!? I didn't feel comfotable taking a shower or even using the bathroom. I was so grossed out by the room I had to lay down clothing on the bed to lay on top of because I didn't want any part of me touching the sheets. I may sound dramatic but if you saw the brown stains covering the walls, you would feel the same way too. The floors were hard wood and I walked around for a few minutes without shoes and the bottoms of my feet were black from dirt and dust. I wouldnt even stay here again if you paid me. Maybe my room was just worse than others because it was a pet friendly room but man kiss my butt for making me waste my money on this sh*t hole. read more

Rooms were so HOT!!! I know there is a heat wave and its Barstow, but the A/C unit did not work, got new room with one that turned on but it took 5 hours for the room to cool just to be able to sleep. Let's now get into the 2 Pit Bulls which come thru a near by fence and harass Econolodge patrons. For the price I expect much better. On a positive note the owner is very nice but still this is a don't waste your money situation. If there was an option for no stars i would have chose that option. Will be asking for a minimum 50% back as a refund. Will update if successful. read more

My Mom and I had an excellent experience at this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived late at night and were warmly welcomed by Jess and Melinda. The room fit our needs and was extremely clean and simple. At 4:30 a.m., I had an emergency (not hotel related) and had to wake up Jess. He was kind enough to get me a bucket of ice at the crack of dawn. When we left in the morning, he checked on my injury, asked if we wanted coffee and pleasantly said, "Thank you" as related to our stay. We would definitely go back! I found this Econo Lodge on Trip Advisor and rarely has TA steered me in the wrong direction. It didn't this time either. The rooms were spotless, with clean sheets, soft towels, a microwave and sizable mini-fridge. The hot water was a little slow to come in the shower, but when it came it was hot and there was plenty of it. The pool was clean and a good temperature. The air conditioner worked (thank goodness - it was 103 degrees at night). The parking lot was big enough for the truck and jet skis, with an entrance and exit for easy pull through. The neighborhood is a little sketchy, but just make sure to lock your car and don't walk alone at night. The nice Indian couple who runs the hotel was very accommodating, looking up my Choice number so I could get credit for my stay and giving us free toothpaste and nice smelling lotion. The room was very reasonable at $49.99 for two queen beds. Bargain for a decent one night stay! TIP: There are lots of restaurants close by and a drive-thru Starbucks just up the street. read more

I had initially stayed at the Astro motel. Omg! That was the worst. I drove by Econo Lodge and pulled Into the parking lot. The outside was nice and clean. I called and asked how much the rooms were he said $59 a night and $10 a day for the pet. I said yes I will take it. He didn't charge me extra for checking in early. The rooms here are nice. The cleaning staff do a great job when cleaning. It was quite and the air conditioner worked. That's why I had left the Astro shit hole. No air conditioning and it's 90 degrees plus. Anyway I would definitely stay here again. The manager was nice. The stay was enjoyable. There's also a pool and on-site washer and dryer. read more

One of my fav budget motels in Barstow (along with the Travelodge down the street). It's basic but pretty nice. They had a remodel a few years back that is still looking pretty good - faux wood laminate floor, flat screen TV with an excellent cable selection, etc. Fridge, micro and coffee maker in all rooms and the WiFi has always been good. Very nice couple who lives on site owns and runs the place. Rooms are always super-clean, place is very reliable and the price is usually as reasonable as it gets anymore in Barstow. Right next to 99 Cent Only and Vons too, as well as a few restaurants. Only issue is that it's a very old building, so the floors are a little creaky and the walls are paper thin. Normally that's a big turn-off for me, but I also sleep with white noise and they've got some powerful fans in the air units, so that's always been enough to drown out anything and get me to sleep. Not a great choice for couples if you plan on getting wild and frisky though, or if you've got a barky dog or screamy kid. read more

Worst Choice affiliate hotel that we've stayed at (we stay at a lot too). The hotel is old, but the rooms are partially updated, and they're clean. Now for the downside... The sink was old, cracked, and nasty, as well as the shower caulk was old and cracked with black mildew. The solid surface floors look great however not the best choice for upper rooms as we were woken starting at 4 am by upper story guests footsteps(sounding like they were actually in our room). The "continental breakfast" was served in the tiny lobby (1 table). The menu consisted of Cheerios and corn flakes, milk, juice, coffee and water. When you check in the night before, you see all the above sitting right there - what you see is what you get! I seldom give reviews on hotels, but feel that I needed to as the Choice website rates this hotel 4.5 Stars. Never again. read more

Pretty terrible little place. They overcharged me: more than the website said and then a separate charge of $20. The rooms smelled bad, not gross bad but like overly lemony on top of a weird smell. The breakfast was boo boo too. They had a toaster but no toast. No cream for their coffee. I should have stayed at the motel 6 for $15 less and spent that on breakfast. I'll never stay there again. We stopped here on our way to LA because another hotel was full and I am glad we did. The new management gave me the last room on the bottom floor to make it easier with a dog. The room was clean. We did hear the sounds of the people next door doing the expected but after that it quieted down. I saw the manager the next norning and told him what a great shower I had because I really really liked the shower head. Guess what? He walked in the room took it off and presented it to me as a gift. This was a very nice gesture considering the bad news we received in the middle of the night from a family member. Made my day. Give these older hotels a chance now and then and help preserve mom and pop type business. You may be pleasantly surprised. read more

I'll try to be short. I was woken up by a cockroach walking down my forearm at around 5:30am. Felt like going to the restroom. I'm a man, so I stood in front of the toilet, opened it up, and then I felt the roach quickly walking up my neck towards my face. I immediately and instinctively grabbed it with my hand and threw it in the toilet. Then I saw the medium-sized cockroach (the flying type) in the water trying to escape, so I flushed it right away. I had two kids and my wife sleeping in the same room. I went straight to the worst part, but the fact that I arrived at 11pm and they wouldn't even allow me in the lobby was ridiculous. Thankfully it wasn't a cold night, but I felt like being treated as a criminal, talking through a whole in the glass of a window. Not to mention the guy was not even close to friendly and welcoming. Then he gave me cards, a handwritten piece of paper with the WiFi password and told me my room number. No, the room number wasn't written anywhere. I asked him what time breakfast would be server and he said: "no no no, it's a very small breakfast... just coffee and break". I said "okay, but what time?" and he finally gave me the answer. My family and recently stayed here. This hotel is rather quiet in a good way. The gentlemen at the front was really friendly and helpful. For our first night I booked online and when we got there we were surprised by how nice it was. We were expecting some run down motel from Barstow but this was nice. The next day they had complimentary breakfast and we decided we would book another night. The gentlemen gave us the same rate as the online rate from booking.com which was nice because most places wont give the same rates. Overall we enjoyed our stay! read more

You get what you pay for is all I have to say. There are tons of motels/hotels in this area and priceline got me in here. As soon as you enter the room, try not to mind the smell. It will eventually calm your nose hairs. The walls are greyish instead of white. Couple holes in the wall. Bathroom does not look too sanitary and the carpet magically gets wet and damp out of the random blue. Also there aren't many electrical sockets. I wanted to have a party in the hotel with the new local friends I met and I only found 1 set on the side of the wall and another set behind the television which powered the tv, microwave, lamp and fridge. Another thing is the lighting, there is a huge walk in closet but you can not see anything in there! No light switch nor a bulb in the socket! At least the AC and heater works unlike some 3 star Vegas hotels read more

We unexpectedly stayed an extra day in Vegas and was unable to snag a room, so we headed home a late and decided Barstow would be a good layover. For the price and location, I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised and happy with this place. It looks like they've recently remodeled, tile bathroom and laminate wood flooring in the bedroom, which made it so much cleaner than carpet! The man that checked us was very friendly and even double checked we didn't want a smoking room, since that's what the hubby accidentally booked. They offer a continental breakfast too. read more

You should stay away. I was trying to take a shower and the water was ice cold. I talked to the front desk man with a thick accent. He told me the pipes need to run for a while. I turned the handle both ways and let it ran for at least five minutes. It never got warm! Also, I was going to plug in my laptop. There are no outlets near the desk or the other table in between the bathroom and the closet. I actually had to unplug the lamp to plug in my laptop. Where are the maids? I think rooms are cleaned only once every several days. I checked out and no sign of any! Breakfast is very cheap--just cereal and bread. My advice: stay somewhere else. read more

Ok, so we pulled in late last night, and knowing the location, price and brand, we weren't expecting much. You will be glad to know that since we didn't set the bar too high, I was still able to give this place a one. Beds were hard, pillows were harder. Shower was dirty, and someone's leftover soap was still in there. Plus: manager in site was very nice. "Breakfast" was a selection of Costco mini pastries and individual cereal servings. We paid for Starbucks instead. There are a lot of choices: splurge a little people and get a good nights rest somewhere else. read more

Nice clean room reasonably priced. Breakfast was a minimal with cereal, juice, coffee, and danish. But all were fresh. The couple running the hotel were very nice, didn't use pool, but looked clean and had enough chairs. Restaurants and grocery store are very close, walking distance. Room was quiet and clean. The owners were extremely generous to us. We accidentally booked our room for the incorrect date. When we arrived, we were told it was not a problem and nothing extra would be charged. I'm giving 3 for the lodge itself and the rooms. And 5 for the owner or manager there. That guy is amazing. My tire went flat after we checked out and it was alright if he didn't help me, but this guy even came with me to the nearby car repair center and made sure the mechanic is fixing my car. Are whole group (4 rooms) were not pleased. Our beds were so hard as well as the three pillows on one king bed, so none of use ever got a full nights rest. When we checked in the two little breakfast tables were still dirty from that morning. We checked in at 3:30pm. My son had roaches,my shower was so slippery I couldn't take a chance I'd be standing. And when I said something he told me I should call Expedia since that's who I booked through. Also I was told by Expedia that I'd get a handicapped room. No deal. They only have ONE and it's rented to long term people (6 weeks). So spend your money at one of the other hotels on Main st. read more

We believe this is a diamond in the rough. We stayed here 2 nights and got to talk to the new owner for awhile. They took it over 2 months ago and came onto the Choice hotel chain. Econo are generally the least choices in regards to breakfast. They will soon be switching over to a hot meal and they are planning to remodel the rooms. Yes it is kinda rough right now but we will definitely look forward to checking them out in the future. read more

Stayed there while I was in Barstow on business (I know, lucky me). Anyway, it was well priced and clean. The owners were very nice people and I would stay there again. It was next door to a Von's and my room had a microwave and refrigerator, which was very convenient. Also a Little Caesar's across the street. Some other restaurants but I just ate pizza once and used the grocery store the rest of the time. The hotel is extremely close to the 15 which is helpful as well. All in all, it was good for a budget hotel with nice management. read more
