I had 2 different stays on the same trip and they were polar opposites but all and all I'm going to go with 4 stars for this one. I was greeted with all smiles by a very friendly and accommodating staff. Maria was very helpful, making sure I got everything I needed. On my first stay I was unhappy with the room, it was so hot and the AC unit just wasn't doing it for me. The room wasn't cooling down until about 2AM which made my nights rough working in the heat all day then coming in to a hot hotel room. The second stay was a complete 180! The room was far more spacious and the AC until did what it was supposed to do. The gym was nice and clean The room was quiet and very clean. Checking in and out went smoothly and had no problem whatsoever. Plenty of good eats in the area. If I'm in the area I look forward to booking another stay with this hotel. read more

Very Disappointing Experience at Hampton Inn Barstow I rarely write a review like this, but our experience at the Hampton Inn in Barstow has been extremely disappointing. Our Night Guardians animal rescue team is temporarily staying here because our sanctuary was flooded and repairs will take several days. We have stayed at Hampton Inn locations in Santa Clarita and Arcadia during rescue missions and events and have generally been treated with courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, our experience here has been very different. During our stay, the elevator was not working. Walking the stairs was not a major issue for our team, but we saw senior guests struggling. One older gentleman with a suitcase was having difficulty using the stairs, and that was upsetting to see. A hotel should have a clear plan for assisting guests when an elevator is unavailable, particularly elderly guests and people with mobility limitations. We also experienced coffee being served cold or only lukewarm, and, most importantly, customer service that did not make us feel welcomed or properly cared for when concerns were raised. We don't expect special treatment because we are Night Guardians. We expect the same basic courtesy, assistance, and hospitality that every paying guest deserves. We know Hampton Inn can do much better because we have experienced much better service at other Hampton Inn locations. So this review takes place during the time that they are doing construction.. I am not sure how long construction will last but I think they have a fair way to go still. The upside is the rates are pretty good! I got my room for about $130 booked the day of. The next closest Hilton was $166. I am traveling on business so I was unconcerned with particulars. I gather most people stationed here aren't trying to spend more than a night here. It is basically in the outlet stores. If you love you some outlet shopping then you need to stay here. You are right in it! Again I wasn't there for all that. In fact I was in the the beginning of what would an epic head cold ... I'm talking voice changes and generally not feeling that sick but sounding sick enough to have people recoil when you spoke. They have a pool. I think it looks like the web pics, the breakfast is standard for the hotel brand. Nobody is very out of their way nice or helpful which is ok. It's not like most people aren't the one nighters. Anyway, my only knock is that even on the nicer room (so I'm led to believe) you can hear EVERYTHING. The sound carries . At one point I convinced myself I might be going mad ....sure I could hear folks talking normally and such....But I had AirPods in and faintly heard crying. I'd take them out and listen and try to find where it was coming from to no avail. Over and over, to the point I slept without AirPods on and near the window. Then I HEARD the crying and jumped out of the bed! Only to find that a tomcat (cat was orange and white which is a male 90% of the time, you can look it up) out doing a mating call and just tomcatting around! Outside my window, wanting to break up my family! The audacity! No kitty, you go holler at someone else! Still unlike others I didn't see any roaches or anything dirty. I think they are getting right. IMPORTANT: they have these sharp guards for the mattress that aren't flush with anything and trust and believe SOMETHING will happen to hurt someone's leg. A good slice or chunk WiLL be taken by each bed with this set up. Go on and check yourself.. use a white towel/rag with a bit of water and swipe in the each of these basically Game of Thrones style spikes and I bet someone will come up with blood. Hampton inn seriously with the bathroom code? Early morning pop in to use the facilities on my way down the 15. Nothing serious I'm not a tweaker or a slob. Had to go look for anyone who worked there, weird, you should definitely have someone at the desk greeting. Anyways nope not allowed to get the code bc I'm not staying there. The thing about hospitality is saying no is a sure fire way to lose customers. The door lock forces every person to contact a worker to get in, this allows them to make judgements about who goes in, but cutting off all non guests means being inhospitable to future possible guests. For what we spent to stay here our experience was less than acceptable. The Hampton suits are supposed to be known for their quality of stay. Not the case here. We were met by a less than welcoming and inattentive desk clerk who had to be told everything twice. They didn't know the readiness of their own hotel. We were put up in a room that wasn't cleaned and made up from the previous occupants. We returned to the desk clerk for a new room only to be put in another room that was fresh out of a construction remodel. When I say fresh I mean barely finished. It smelled heavy of paint. That grout hadn't been sealed. The caulk around the sink hadn't set and rubbed off on my finger. The floor tile still had drywall mud smudges and paint on it. And the blinds were the filthy old ones left over from construction. Spend that much money on construction and don't even have a solid finish inspection! I hope they enjoy the mildew and upcoming mess in the bathroom from deciding to not put in vent fans to clear the steam. read more

We stayed here for one night during a Route 66 trip. When we told someone in San Bernardino that we were staying in Barstow for the night he looked at us like we were staying in Gaza. He freaked me out but it ended up being completely fine. We parked out front and at the above person's suggestion, didn't leave anything in the car. The welcome was friendly at check in. Our room was very spacious and included a couch and very small kitchenette. There isn't much within walking distance so we ordered in. Food options are slim pickings but I think that's just Barstow. I booked a room here in June. Hotel is under renovations, but I figured that's ok, because hey...it's a Hilton Hotel and I've never had a bad experience, so what could go wrong? I checked in. Front desk was friendly. I walk into my room, and immediately noticed something was wrong. First of all, it looked like a 10 year old made both beds. Linens were wrinkled, appeared to be slept on. I walk into bathrooms, towels looked like they were folded by same 10 year old, and haphazardly placed on the shelf. I had been training at Fort Irwin, and it was hot as balls out there and I was dirty and exhausted. I decided to proceed with my usual check for bedbugs. As soon as I turned on the lamp, there was a couple of roaches. That's it. I had enough. I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs to demand a refund. The front desk girl told me "it's the desert, you have to expect to see bugs." NOPE. NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT! I was given a refund and went to Home2Suites down the street. Literally DOUBLE the amount that I paid at the Hampton, but it was squeaky clean. So disappointed in the loss of having to shell out extra $ and the disgusting Hampton Inn. read more

Booked one night stay so my husband can do his shopping in peace at the Barstow Outlets which shares the back side with the hotel. They are remodeling right now so it doesn't look eye pleasing when you drive up to the property but the inside so far looks welcoming, relaxing, new, updated and so on. Breakfast was great, just wish their bowls for cereal and oatmeal were bigger (mini size). Beds were comfortable, rooms spacious, bathrooms spacious, you have mini frig, microwave, coffee/tea maker, cell phone/clock charger combo (wow), and accessible power charger ports which I've found quite a challenge finding and reaching for. There was black mold in the bathroom, the jetted tub didn't work and the employee at the front desk didn't know the room even had such a thing when we called down for assistance (she had more fingers than brain cells). Stains all over the carpeting from God knows what and loose, broken electrical sockets that are very dangerous in this condition. We made our reservation for 5 people. Was supposed to have a sleeper sofa. They didn't give us one. Had to go back down stairs to get another room. Didn't even get an apology from the front desk. Then the new room sofa sleeper is horrible. You Can feel the springs just by touching the mattress. Had to put the sofa cushions on just to lay on it. Definitely don't recommend this place. They're slipping in quality. I've stayed here over 20 nights in the past 15 months and the quality of the "little things" have slipped significantly -- though the room rates have skyrocketed. Breakfast is very limited: lots of little changes and none of them for the better. Powdered eggs? Pass. We had the wrong size sheets (Queen size) on our King-size bed: the mattress cover kept slipping off throughout the night. Like the housekeeping staff didn't know it didn't fit? The hotel seems dirty, hallway carpets, etc. In this day and age of Covid, you'd think they'd be wiping things down now and then. They've replaced their four-wheel baggage trollies with cheap three-wheel triangular models that cause luggage to tumble off at the slightest bump, yanno, like door tracks, ridges between pavement and walkways. read more

This is a great place to stay if you're passing through to Vegas, wanted to spend a day at the outlets, and get a good night's rest. The hotels in the Barstow (technically "Lenwood") area are not more than $100 a night. Pro: This hotel is comfortable, clean (for the most part), and quiet. There's also complimentary hot breakfast in the morning from 5am-10am (bacon, eggs, cereal, oatmeal, make-your-own-waffles, yogurt). Staff is friendly and helpful. Tanger Outlet is right next door within walking distance. Make sure to grab some coupons at the table right in front of the elevator on the first floor for 20% discounts! Cons: There was a table at breakfast who brought their 3 big dogs with them and I'm glad a staff member asked the people to take their dogs outside. I mean, come on...we are eating here! I read that this hotel is pet friendly and I wonder if it's friendly in all the rooms because it's a bit disturbing to think I may have slept in the same bed as a dog. I'm big on hygiene. I also went to the pool and it was filled with bugs floating on the water and chilling at the bottom. I still went in because it was over 100 degrees and plus, I was going to shower afterwards. Totally amazing. I'm driving from Eureka California to Atlanta Georgia and my first stop was here in Barstow. Since being a Hilton honors member I decided to stay at this Hampton Inn and I must say this is the best Hampton Inn that I've ever stayed in. Emily at the front desk is an amazing individual, she has a customer service attitude and a smile that would light up a dark day. Walking in the hotel I was amazed at how luxurious it looked in the lobby, well-kept, extremely clean, and full of amenities. When I checked into my room I was also amazed I have a single king in the bathroom is humongous with a standup shower, the bed is extremely comfortable and the room was overly clean, which is needed during these tough times while dealing with the coronavirus. No I doubt my travels will take me back through here again I hope that my stays coming up on the remainder of my trip will be as pleasant as this one. read more

We stayed at this small Hampton Inn for three nights. It is located directly on Route 66, and right beside the Barstow Outlets. I was able to drive directly out of the motel parking lot and into the outlet parking lot without getting on the highway. Motel employees were very friendly. They offered suggestions on restaurants and nearby attractions. Motel and rooms were clean. They served a very good free breakfast. Also offer afternoon cookies for their guests. We used a soon-to-be-expired free Hilton weekend night certificate to stay here on the Friday night before the July 4th weekend. Our thinking was that leaving LA early in the evening on a long weekend would leave us stuck in traffic, so we opted to leave late, spend the night in Barstow, sleep in, and then drive the rest of the way on Saturday. (Accidents plus more traffic the next day sort of hampered that plan, but that's another story.) The reviews are pretty much spot on. The service and room cleanliness were great. We appreciated having a mini-fridge for our drinks, leftovers, and to freeze our blue ice for the next day. There was also a microwave. The free breakfast was fine; hey, it's better than nothing. The breakfast and lobby areas were spotless. (We even used the bathroom when we drove back home from Vegas, hehe.) I used the exercise room for a little bit. It's small but gets the job done unless you want to use a bench to press serious weight. The pool area was nice and clean, but as others said, the water was COLD. It was over 90 degrees already in the morning, but I just could not force myself to get into the water past my knees. Haha. There's coin-op washer/dryer, but I didn't use it. Also, you can literally walk to the outlet stores. Get there at 9am when they open and beat not only the heat, but the rush of buses from LA! read more

We were leaving SF on our way to Florida during COVID. We typically stay in Hamptons, since they are usually the best bet for Highway hotels. I'm leaving a two star review for the following reasons. - hotel room was clean, and what I expected out of a Hampton (5 stars here) - room was quite and hot water worked well (5 stars here) - a/c was very dificulta to get working. Had to press the temperature button tons of times and press really hard with my fingernails to get it to work. And when A/C finally came on, it was super loud. (1 star here) - fridge didn't work (1 star here) - even though we are in COVID times and in California, the breakfast food had ZERO safety precautions. Everything was put in the open, just like old times. A clear safety hazard. (1 star here) I'm super disappointed Hampton isn't making it safe for guests when eating breakfast, and have terrible a/c systems in the rooms. After all, we are here to get a good night's rest and feel safe traveling by car. read more

It is 3:55 am. I went to sleep at 10 pm, woke up at midnight. I can not sleep. Not only is the air conditioner loud, the entire wall next to this bed is vibrating and there is a low pitched roar. They are remodeling the lower level of this property. I can't understand why we were assigned a room down a hall that has bare, unfinished cement floor. I am sure this hotel is not full to capacity. We are Hilton Honor Silver. We primarily stay in Hilton properties. I am very disappointed with this property. And the poor judgement of the person that assigned us this particular room. Do not stay on the first floor of this facility! In fact, call and check on the progress of the renovations before you book a room. Out in the middle of the desert near the outlet mall. This Hilton is walking distance from shopping if you dare to brave the heat and sun. Small out door pool with no shade. Breakfast was self serve with the usual make your own waffle and pre made eggs. 24 hour coffee and the free cookies was a hit with the kids. Our room was the space of a double room with tub and sink separated. The room was very spacious and bigger than the ordinary. The beds did slope downward due to heavy use. One tv, coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. Staff was helpful and kind. Parking is plentiful with a section for diamond preferred parking. The thing about this place is that we like to stop here on a road trip to Las Vegas. It breaks up the long drive. read more

I needed a break in my 12 hour road trip with my dog, and Barstow was smack in the middle which was quite convenient. Initially I had chosen a different hotel but the availability disappeared as I had waited too long but thankfully, the Hampton Inn still had a room! (I literally booked this just a few days in advance so, I got lucky) The staff was super friendly and greeted me around 8pm the night I arrived. They were nice to my dog and not overly nice either - which I am thankful for since my pup is a young 10 years old and he likes calm and quiet these days. They did not charge me for him, with the exception of just a deposit that was returned to me. So I was super happy about that. He wasn't allowed in the elevator if other people also had to use it which was a little challenging but completely understandable. Depending on the sleep apnea level of your neighbors, you may hear them but the bathroom was clean, room was tidy and clean and parking was super convenient and available near the exit / entrance closest to my room.
