Janet at the front desk was very good, professional, friendly and helpful. All the staff here are very nice. Location is good. Mid priced for a spring vacay for many. This is an older building which is ok but shows some wear and tear. The outside doors don't always close all the way. First H.I. that had a sign posted on the desk in the room on what to do in case of an emergency. The tv remote control in the room looked like it had dried food on it. Some of the wall paper was peeling off and the bathroom showed its age. The air conditioner and the refrigerator were both off which took time to turn on and cool down properly. No microwave in this room which was aggrivating. Glad they were sold out and busy. Keeping folks employed! I'm grateful to see that. read more

I am usually a fan of Holiday inns and have stayed at this property before. But after our last stay (Jan 2025), I will not stay at this location again. This property is not clean. It's borderline gross. The elevator carpets are super dirty which set the tone before we went to our room.The hallway ice machine was not working. The room carpets had white milk stain and the desk chair also has the same white residue. It looked like something the housekeeping could have just rubbed off cleaned. The bath had mold on the caulking and the shower had so much build up that water pressure was low. At breakfast time, the pancake maker was not working. Seems like many things in this hotel were "out of order" at this point. Overall this is a reflection of the property manager and overall maintenance of the property. With my last experience, the property manager does not care or is too cheap. In Barstow, near this property, there are so many other hotel options that are better. We have stayed at home 2 and Fairfield inn and they are all better. I would also look into Hampton inn next door. read more

This is a very good location for Holiday Inn offering many different advantages for travelers. 1. Tesla SuperCharger for all electric vehicles. The Chargers are right in front of the hotel which is very convenient. 2. The staff is very welcoming, and friendly. 3. Places to eat are fairly close to the hotel. 4. We are members of Holiday Inn . We are normally very happy. At the Holiday Inn. But this place falls very short of what I expect. The hot tub was filthy and slimy. The pool was ice cold. No pool towels. The bottle water was 5$. Our room has two phones neither work. The room was clean. Mattresses not great. read more

HIE is know for it's quality and service and I've stayed at dozens of HIE's. This is by far the worst one that I've ever stayed in. Just to list a few things... I checked into room 139 and for four nights, my TV was not working. I spoke with the front desk twice and they would put me on the maintenance list but it was never addressed. I was eventually moved to room 140. The couch in room 139 had several stains on it and there was a greasy hand print on the mirror in the entryway when I arrived. Room 140 also had stains on the couch. During my stay in room 140, I found a dead cockroach in the bathroom. I could have easily tossed it in the garbage but as a test, I spoke with the front desk to have it removed. Three mornings in a row, I asked the front desk to have someone remove the roach removed and they would write it down but it wasn't picked up until the third day. Housekeeping did change my towels and empty my garbage every day but did no other cleaning nor pick up the dead roach. One day, housekeeping changed my towels and emptied my garbage, a task that probably takes ten minutes but they turned the air conditioning on high and left it on. When I came back to my room at the end of the day, it was freezing in there. Did they really need to turn the air on for such a short time in the room? The woman who runs the breakfast bar should be fired. HIE is known for their cinnamon rolls and sometimes they were out at 6am, 630, or after 645. I would leave for work at 645 and 75% of the time, there weren't any rolls out by the time I left. It was extremely inconsistent. On two occasions, I found her chatting with the front desk person when there were empty coffee urns. Or, she would go on a break around 6-615am and there would be empty coffee urns. While eating my breakfast one morning, I counted five guests looking for coffee when there wasn't any and she was nowhere to be found. Other times, there were empty warming trays and again, she was nowhere to be found. Just about every other day, the door at the back of the building would not open. My coworkers and myself had gear that had to be carried all the way to the front of the building which made it quite annoying. On a positive note, the front desk workers were extremely professional and polite. There was a shorter man with a goatee that came to look at my TV one night and was not able to fix it. He did his job well. If I weren't staying here for work, I wouldn't stay here again. read more

Terrible service. For the Tesla supercharger they will not allow you to use there bathroom in the lobby. We usually stay at Holiday Inns due to being close or next to chargers, however we have never been told the bathroom is for guests only. I will be using other companies from now on. read more

Super clean and the room was spacious with lots of attractive furniture for working and/or spreading out my stuff. A very good breakfast spread is included, with a pancake machine, muffins, bagels, breads, cereals, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and today they had turkey sausage, biscuits, gravy, and biscuit sized eggs to make a breakfast sandwich. The young woman working in the breakfast room was very nice and ran around helping people and refilling everything. The bathroom is outdated and rundown, with large cracks in the floor tile, a door so badly warped that it doesn't close properly, and the shower fixture and tub spout were pretty funky, with lots of oxidation and barely functional. Mattress needs to be replaced too. Very friendly staff throughout. Mixed bag, but the pluses outweigh the minuses. read more

We stopped to sleep after a long day of traveling. The guy at the front desk was nice and even asked which floor we preferred. The room was clean and much larger than I expected. The mattresses were kind of thin and I could hear the springs. Still decently comfy. Breakfast was pretty good for a hotel. Eggs with cheese, turkey sausage, bacon, hash browns, pancakes, cereal, chocolate milk, almond milk, muffins, and fruit. Everyone was friendly. Would stay again if in the area. read more

Reserved this last minute during a drive to Las Vegas. Arrived in the middle of the night, was welcomed by front desk staff. They have a little market next to the front desk that has chips, ramen, frozen foods, ice cream, drinks, water, razors, deodorant, toothbrush/toothpaste, eye drops and some OTC medications. Check in was seamless. Room was decent, clean, it was very warm and it felt like the AC wasn't working. Called front desk for extra supplies (towels, etc) and was informed that there is no housekeeping at night and I'd have to pick up items from the front desk. It was late, I was on the other end of hotel on third floor so I made due with what was available. They offer warm breakfast in the morning starting at 5A. They have coffee, tea, hot cocoa juice, yogurt, apples, oranges, bananas, cereal, boiled eggs, turkey or pork sausage, gravy and egg patties with bread options. I wasn't impressed with the hot food options. Nonetheless, it's available to those who prefer it. Overall a decent spot to stay a night or two when traveling through the area. read more

Where to start? I will just list the issues: 1. At checkin (I am a Platinum Member) that asked me to manually fill in a form with details that are on my profile. Items like email, phone number, etc. I said "no...you already have all that." 2. The small kitchen sink backed up and had something rising up that looked like portions of tea leaves. 3. The filter for the air conditioning vent is filthy and quite unhealthy. 4. When we opened the extra blanket for our son to use in the couch an empty can of hard cider was in the pouch. We stayed in five Holiday Inn Express Hotels on the road trip. Twice at the Barstow-Outlet Center Property. It was our least favorite hotel. It simply felt neglected. The bathroom door handle was broken and one of the lights was not working. The room air conditioner was the very old manual analog control version. Other hotels either had digital controls or wall mounted thermostats. The quality of the complementary breakfast was far less than the other Holiday Inn Express hotels that we stay in on this trip. (One morning we ate breakfast at the nearby chain coffee shop.) Finally, this was the most expensive of the bunch. On the plus side, the staff was excellent. On our next trip through Barstow, we will probably stay at the hotel next door. read more

During my recent stay, these areas fell far below par; the IHG Hospitality Promise, IHG Clean Promise as well as state and local health guidelines. I am attaching several photos of things I found, short fails of detail and a couple of videos of items that should be corrected in order to sell a room with the advertised amenities. Room 225 is advertised and priced to sell as a Jacuzzi Bath Suite. The Jacuzzi did not work, the faucets were leaking pipe residue and in need of a deep cleaning. The pull out couch bed speaks for itself in the pictures. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING, UNHYGIENIC AND IN NEED OF IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT. The TV System that the property uses needs to be reconsidered. Severe satellite interruption with no apparent cause, you are in an area that should be fully capable of receiving signal. Why are there random paint smudges? The windows have missing seals causing wind to create a vert annoying and inconvenient loud whistle CONSTANTLY, THROUGH THE NIGHT, leading to interrupted sleep and annoyance. Cleanliness, why was there an empty beer bottle behind the tv stand in the living room? Shower head? Also, was there construction taking place at 7am. It definitely sounded like it in the room above. Not 100% confident of the source. I understand that during these challenging times, budgets are constrained and corners need to be cut. However, some corners cannot be cut and still maintain an effective business model. This is especially true when you post a "promise" that advertises otherwise. read more

On a recent stay while passing through Southern California, my young son discovered he forgot his pillow and beloved stuffed dog (after we were already an hour and a half away). I called the front desk and spoke with Kimberly who immediately took charge of finding the items and shipped them to our home for a joyful reunion. I paid for shipping, as you would expect, but she wouldn't accept any form of payment/tip for her time coordinating the recon and reunion. The stay started well! Jose at the front desk checked us in and was very cordial and professional. We were offered any floor that we wanted and chose the first floor. We ended up by the exit/entrance door which was a mistake if you actually wanted to sleep. At 0500 the door was opened and closed (slammed) multiple times. Maybe we should have been notified and we would have chosen another floor. And for security purposes I don't think the door was ever changed to the entry with card feature(all night). The hotel is old and needs renovating. The mattresses are flat, light bulbs flicker, and carpet is dirty. Breakfast was good, but the place needs a deep cleaning. The Holiday Inn located in Berkeley is how the Holiday Inn located in Barstow should be modeled. read more

This was just a quick unexpected overnight hotel stay to return my nephew back to my sister after keeping him for a week vacation. I drove up San Diego and we decided to meet up at the Barstow Outlets to shop and have dinner at the nearby Chili's since it was the halfway point from Vegas. My grandmother who is elderly and has hip issues decided she wanted to rest and not make the 2.5-3 hour ride back to San Diego. We seen plenty of hotels in the area and picked the Holiday Inn. We were promptly greeted and checked in. We were offered cookies and toiletries. Customer Service was great. Our room was 323 facing the freeway and Tesla charging station lot. The hotel was very quiet. Rooms were large and clean. They actually have name brand soap. Dove! The complimentary breakfast in the morning was great! If I ever find myself back in Barstow I would definitely stay here again! I am a IHG member so I got points for the stay and a AAA member discount! read more

This hotel is overall an OK place to stop for a night, but it's definitely "tired" looking and in need of some updating. I will say that the bed was comfortable and the linens were very clean and in good shape, but the decor, carpet, furniture, etc., is where you see the age of the place. It was quite hot outside, and our room was on the third floor, but we found that our air conditioner worked fine keeping our room temp at a comfortable level; it is old however so the fan is a bit on the noisy side. We appreciated the breakfast area, but keep in mind the quality and assortment is on the same level as a fast food place not a restaurant meal. Hubs found the check staff to be friendly and helpful, but we did feel that this hotel was pricey for the condition of the room. read more

I hate giving bad ratings but this has been a terrible experience and other customers should know. When I arrived to the room, the lights next to the bed were not working. I tried to find the right cord in the mess of cords but no luck. I looked under the bed for the cord and found chips and trash. There was also a hairbrush behind the fridge. I told the clerk, and he said he didn't have any other rooms. I said okay and asked if he can send someone to clean in the morning. He assured he would. Due to COVID, I left the room in the am from 9-12, for the room to be serviced. When I returned, the room was still not clean. I called the front desk and asked how come my room wasn't serviced. The front desk lady, then said "We don't clean rooms who are extended stay." I explained the situation from the night before. She said, "Well did you put the service tag on the door?" I told her there wasn't one and the night clerk said he would take care of it in the morning. With attitude, she said she would someone. Later, I asked for towels and was instructed to bring my dirty towels down in order to get clean towels. I'm on day 3 of being here. I'm now out of toilet paper, the shampoo dispenser is empty and again, I have no towels. I tried to wash my clothes in their laundry area and one dryer's coin slot is broken and the other dryer doesn't heat up enough to dry the clothes. This was by FAR the worst hotel i have ever been in.... Blood My husband and I travel for work, we had driven from North Dakota to Barstow in a day and 5 hours and were exhausted, we came to this Holiday Inn because they normally have a good rep and aren't crazy expensive. For starters we were charged $400 for 2 nights. That's an insane rate if you ask me as someone who travels all over and stays in hotels everyday. We finally got settled in our room, which STUNCK of cigarettes, i went to lay in our bed and there was human bowel movement on my side of the bed, and because i was so tired i just decided that i would get over it, so i got up and got a washcloth and cleaned up someone's poop, when i got back to the bed i moved the sheets back a little farther to reveal BLOOD on my sheets, that my husband was already laying on. Disgusting we were in a DIRTY room, the bed was made when we got there so room service must've just covered it up and wanted to go home early. I bawled my eyes out and thankfully the front desk lady gave us a refund. I will never stay with this hotel again. Worst THIRTY MINUTES in a hotel i've ever spent. read more

Arrived late and tired to a hotel that looked dated and dirty. All hand sanitizers were turned off. None working and was told by the front desk it had been months since the batteries died. The first room they gave us the door did not lock. Their solution at first was to use the door latch dead bolt. We requested a new room with a locking door. The hotel has an 80s décor when smoking was allowed. Besides the smell of the hotel the hotel is in need of repairs and a good cleaning. I do not recommend this hotel read more

We often stay at Holiday Inn express and have never been disappointed . This one is also to HIE high standards. The bed was perfect, the room was quiet. We were on the first floor. The room was perfectly clean. The bathroom was supplied with shampoo, conditioner and bath gel-- all by J.R. Watkins. The J.R Watkins supplies the aroma therapy that I enjoy. I must mention the corner couch with the above lamp. I get up before my spouse and that's the perfect spot to enjoy my coffee in the room. I hope this helps future patrons . read more

We have spent several nights at this location a few times over the last 3-4 years and felt it was about time to tell everyone what a great place this is to stay. The staff is extremely friendly and very accommodating. You still get a hot breakfast brought to you as the state of CA does not allow them to open their dining area yet. During our visit Sept 3 Mandy checked us in. She was very friendly and efficient. She was also very helpful with answering our questions about dining options in the area. We had driven from LA and arrived here around 3 AM, just passing by. The manager was courteous enough to find us a room to accommodate four people. Room was clean, everything was provided, and all appliances were functional. We had no problems with the beds or the shower. Breakfast is your standard continental breakfast and hot breakfast with eggs, sausages, pancakes, and bacon. I really liked the cinnabon, and the coffee came out super-hot. Recommended if you're in the area, or if you're stopping by before crossing the CA/NV border. read more
