On my way to a doctors appointment in Downey I search Yelp for coffee locations and this came up. I stopped by to check it out. It's a pop up cart located inside a boutique shop. They do have a seating area in case you want to take a break and enjoy your coffee. I got mine to go. I ordered an Honey Oat Latte. It's made with Expresso, raw honey and oat milk. It was so delicious, I really enjoyed it. I normally get cold brew everywhere I go but this was amazing. All their drinks are made with oat or almond milk. I'm not a big fan of either but it tasted good in this drink. They have variety of very interesting lattes. Customer service was friendly and fast. It wasn't that busy when I walked in. Overall a great spot to check out if you are in the area.

    Pastries are from Nona Mercado.

Ecuamex, located in Downey, CA, is a Mexican and Ecuadorian fused coffee shop. The difference with this shop than others we've been to is that it's a coffee cart located in a boutique! Luckily when we stopped by, we got to meet the owner, and she told us her story, and we learned her passion and love for coffee--and that love reflects in her coffee too! We ordered the iced Cafe de Olla, which already contained oat milk. It was recommended by the barista. This drink is a special one for the owner as the recipe is actually her grandmother's recipe! And let us tell you that her grandmother created a magnificent cup of coffee. The drink is infused with different spices, and instead of traditional sugar, the barista uses piloncillo/panela for sweetness. The drink tasted homey and will definitely satisfy that "stay at home, snuggling while watching TV" feeling. We ordered the classic hot Honey Oat Latte, also recommended. The espressos used for their coffee is so subtle and fresh! It contains a warmness that blends perfectly with the honey flavor that the barista brewed together. The speciality of this drink compared to other Honey Oat Lattes was in the honey. The taste of the raw honey was richer and more apparent. It was a smoother and comforting drink and something we would definitely get again! In terms of sweetness, it had that nectar flavor from the honey, and not that artificial flavor from syrups. We ordered a blueberry scone, which was from Nonna's Bakery. Please read our review on Nonna if you want more on their coffee and pastries! Ecuamex is an example of a small coffee shop with powerful flavors, and it's Coffee Thursday's job to give credit, review, and recommend small locations like this one to encourage coffee lovers like ourselves to new locations who share a passion and love for coffee. So try Ecuamex and get to know the owner's story and love for what she does. She knows all about the beans she uses and mixes it with her culture and her husband's culture (he's Mexican). When you do go to Ecuamex, tag us and tell us what you got!

We hired Ecuamex at my Bridal Shower this past weekend and it was nothing short of amazing! First off, the owner, Karen, is the sweetest person ever! She really went out of her way and above and beyond to bring exceptional customer service. Our guests LOVED the coffee and loved chatting with Karen. The hiring process was very smooth and she even worked with us to give the lattes wedding themed names. It was so cute! Will definitely be hiring Ecuamex again. Highly recommend!!!

My fave is the honey latte. Cute puppy not Included lol

My favorite is a honey iced latte and the hibiscus drink that is so refreshing. The flavor of the coffee is amazing. Will definitely be coming back. It's inside a clothing store.

I kept passing this place it's small, it's right next to a barbershop right on Firestone. If you go to Creamistry you will find it a few doors down. All dairy free coffee and delicious! Finally good beans in Downey! Next time I will try a vegan donut with my coffee. Definitely good vibes.

It's a pop up coffee shop located inside the eleven eleven boutique. It's across the street from IHOP. Just walk right in & you'll see her coffee cart. Her coffee is worth the stop. Hope to get a chance to go back soon.

Ecuamex is a hot, hot, *MUY CALIENTE* pop-up shop and soon-to-be-brick-and-mortar café in my hometown Downey. The wife/co-owner is the friendliest lady ever - even though they are seemingly going through hell trying to get into their new place, she can't say a bad word about anyone. Her husband is also co-owner. She is from Ecuador. He has Mexican roots. Ecuador + Mexico = Ecuamex. So clever and fun! Their coffees and teas are carefully crafted. Vegan options are available! My friend recently (12/30/20) bought me an iced coconut cinnamon latte with an Ecuamex espresso shot ($4.25). Here's my verdict: + I didn't think I would enjoy it so much because I usually don't care for coconut, but it was lightly sweetened and extra creamy without a single drop of dairy cream! + Cinnamon was definitely a prevalent ingredient in this concoction, but without overpowering the rest. +The espresso shot gave it more of an earthy, bold flavor that I am so glad I didn't pass up. I almost did because it was an afternoon treat, but the extra energy to make it through the final hours of the year ended up being necessary. I cannot wait to try more of their specialized drinks - but especially their house brew coffee! I drink my coffee black normally. It should be gooooood... (I'll post an update later). I tried my friend's hibiscus honey oatmilk latte - so tasty! Ecuamex is a HUGE proponent of sharing spaces with other small businesses. They often advertise where they will be at upcoming "shop small" events in addition to their pop-up locations. Sometimes they even sell baked goods from other small businesses. Follow them on Instagram @ecuamex_cafe to see where they will be next. Yep, I'm a fan por vida. :)

Let me be honest. It's a new business and when i went in It was super small and the menu was limited . Holy fuck! The Ecuamex coffee is delicious and super flavorful and If you're in a "diet" it's totally keto friendly since I'm on keto and it's low calories and carbs. Super delicious and potent. Natural ingredients. I loved it and the pricing is decent not overpriced just because of presentation. Like it's a passion. My bf got the cold brew. It wasn't as potent but it was delicious so he was able to finish it oppose to other cold brew he's gotten it lasts him a couple days.

Hibiscus Honey Oat Latte is great for kids, vegan donuts and assorted scones are bomb. They also have Kimdy's which are a good snack :)

BYE STARBUCKS. I first tried Ecuamex when they were working out of Play Collective in Downey in 2020. Since they've opened up their shop I have totally converted my Starbucks trips to Ecuamex trips and would never go back. When I walk in it smells like coffee heaven and instantly brings me a sense of calm. Everything they offer at la tiendita as well as the refreshments they make there is thoughtfully chosen and curated for their customers sheer enjoyment; you can taste the love and dedication in every drink. It will really make you question your entire coffee experience and wonder how a latte can actually taste that good. And to top it all off their cups, lids, & straws are biodegradable and much better options for the Earth than other coffee shops offer. Thank you Ecuamex for your perserverance and exceptional drinks; your quality and taste is unmatched!

I'm a sucker for local coffee shops, and I'm so happy to see you guys open up here in Downey! The service is awesome, the lovely barista made sure we were satisfied with our drinks. I got the HIBISCUS HONEY OATMILK and my boyfriend got the ECUAMEX. I was intrigued by the name of the coffee I chose and it was such a nice, different taste! I loved the aftertaste of hibiscus, it left my breath smelling floral! Lol. My boyfriend decided to go with his choice since it gave off an "OG" feeling since it is named after the shop. I got a taste of his and it tasted like love! It was all made with love. We'll for sure be coming back. We appreciate you and hope you get to achieve all your goals! Thank you.

Went in to try this coffee and help out a new small neighborhood business. I was very pleased. The first thing I enjoyed upon entering the small establishment was the courtesy and friendliness. I wanted to get the café de ills. I wasn't sure about oat milk but she immediately offered me a sample which I enjoyed. The coffee was not bitter and strong but strong and delicious the way I like it. I'm giving them a five star rating and I hope their company thrives!

I was in the area and I've never had a cute coffee with the latte art (so many of my friends are going to roast me for this) When I pulled up -nice private parking -a staff member was outside painting on the windows with the cutest window art. The girl had talent! This place has also given back. They helped with the LA fires last year. So bonus points for places who give back. (They gave back to the Pasadena humane society) There was a pretty big line and it was pretty loud in here, but it went by very fast. My friend grabbed a table while I placed the order. -they do have a good amount of seating. The place is pretty small though. So we sat for a minute after our drinks came out and then decided to take it to go -they have latte art that changes every month. So I like they have some rotating options. It was my turn and I ordered two sugar free mocha iced coffees. One with regular foam, And mine had strawberry foam. When I told Matthew at the counter it was really important the one drink be as sugar free as possible due to my friend being diabetic, he warned us there was sugar in the foam, but he would go as light as possible. So I appreciate him warning us and taking it serious. I picked the new hello kitty art of the month (hello kitty in a bathing suit with waves and dolphins) And my friend picked from the new monthly latte art as well, and got the Kirby character Even though it was busy, it took probably 2 minutes for our drinks to be made Matthew was absolutely great. His energy, he had a smile on his face, was knowledgeable about the menu, Matthew was everything you'd want in a staff member. Just like any coffee place, you pay and give them a name for your order, and then they call your name and you pick up your coffee at the counter. These drinks hit the spot!!! It was very trendy. They had Sabrina carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo specials and they even had a Lana Del Rey latte (cinnamon girl, named after her song) only thing that bummed me out They had a case with delicious pastries. But since I came here later in the day, they only had a couple stragglers left behind -they open at 7 am, for everyone needing their morning coffee -vegan options -free WiFi -woman owned -LGBTQ owned -they give back to the community

I ordered an iced caramel latte, and it absolutely did not disappoint. The espresso was rich and flavorful, while the caramel added just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the drink. I also loved that they use coffee ice cubes, it kept the latte from getting watered down, and honestly, I thought it tasted even better as it sat. The staff was friendly, and our drinks came out pretty quickly, which I appreciated. The only downside was the atmosphere. It's a very small shop with seating for maybe 20 people inside, plus 4 small two-person tables outside (without any shade). When we visited, almost everyone else was working on laptops, so it didn't feel like the best place to sit and chat. The music was also fairly loud and mostly K-pop, which didn't really match the coffee shops aesthetic and made conversation a little more difficult. Parking was probably my biggest complaint. There are only four dedicated parking spots, and the surrounding residential street parking was completely packed. I ended up parking in the chicken restaurant's lot across the street. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the coffee, it was genuinely one of the better iced caramel lattes I've had. If you're looking to grab a quality drink to go, I'd highly recommend it. Just be prepared for limited seating and a challenging parking situation.
