On my way to a doctors appointment in Downey I search Yelp for coffee locations and this came up. I stopped by to check it out. It's a pop up cart located inside a boutique shop. They do have a seating area in case you want to take a break and enjoy your coffee. I got mine to go. I ordered an Honey Oat Latte. It's made with Expresso, raw honey and oat milk. It was so delicious, I really enjoyed it. I normally get cold brew everywhere I go but this was amazing. All their drinks are made with oat or almond milk. I'm not a big fan of either but it tasted good in this drink. They have variety of very interesting lattes. Customer service was friendly and fast. It wasn't that busy when I walked in. Overall a great spot to check out if you are in the area.

    Pastries are from Nona Mercado.

Ecuamex, located in Downey, CA, is a Mexican and Ecuadorian fused coffee shop. The difference with this shop than others we've been to is that it's a coffee cart located in a boutique! Luckily when we stopped by, we got to meet the owner, and she told us her story, and we learned her passion and love for coffee--and that love reflects in her coffee too! We ordered the iced Cafe de Olla, which already contained oat milk. It was recommended by the barista. This drink is a special one for the owner as the recipe is actually her grandmother's recipe! And let us tell you that her grandmother created a magnificent cup of coffee. The drink is infused with different spices, and instead of traditional sugar, the barista uses piloncillo/panela for sweetness. The drink tasted homey and will definitely satisfy that "stay at home, snuggling while watching TV" feeling. We ordered the classic hot Honey Oat Latte, also recommended. The espressos used for their coffee is so subtle and fresh! It contains a warmness that blends perfectly with the honey flavor that the barista brewed together. The speciality of this drink compared to other Honey Oat Lattes was in the honey. The taste of the raw honey was richer and more apparent. It was a smoother and comforting drink and something we would definitely get again! In terms of sweetness, it had that nectar flavor from the honey, and not that artificial flavor from syrups. We ordered a blueberry scone, which was from Nonna's Bakery. Please read our review on Nonna if you want more on their coffee and pastries! Ecuamex is an example of a small coffee shop with powerful flavors, and it's Coffee Thursday's job to give credit, review, and recommend small locations like this one to encourage coffee lovers like ourselves to new locations who share a passion and love for coffee. So try Ecuamex and get to know the owner's story and love for what she does. She knows all about the beans she uses and mixes it with her culture and her husband's culture (he's Mexican). When you do go to Ecuamex, tag us and tell us what you got!

We hired Ecuamex at my Bridal Shower this past weekend and it was nothing short of amazing! First off, the owner, Karen, is the sweetest person ever! She really went out of her way and above and beyond to bring exceptional customer service. Our guests LOVED the coffee and loved chatting with Karen. The hiring process was very smooth and she even worked with us to give the lattes wedding themed names. It was so cute! Will definitely be hiring Ecuamex again. Highly recommend!!!

My fave is the honey latte. Cute puppy not Included lol

My favorite is a honey iced latte and the hibiscus drink that is so refreshing. The flavor of the coffee is amazing. Will definitely be coming back. It's inside a clothing store.

I kept passing this place it's small, it's right next to a barbershop right on Firestone. If you go to Creamistry you will find it a few doors down. All dairy free coffee and delicious! Finally good beans in Downey! Next time I will try a vegan donut with my coffee. Definitely good vibes.

It's a pop up coffee shop located inside the eleven eleven boutique. It's across the street from IHOP. Just walk right in & you'll see her coffee cart. Her coffee is worth the stop. Hope to get a chance to go back soon.

Ecuamex is a hot, hot, *MUY CALIENTE* pop-up shop and soon-to-be-brick-and-mortar café in my hometown Downey. The wife/co-owner is the friendliest lady ever - even though they are seemingly going through hell trying to get into their new place, she can't say a bad word about anyone. Her husband is also co-owner. She is from Ecuador. He has Mexican roots. Ecuador + Mexico = Ecuamex. So clever and fun! Their coffees and teas are carefully crafted. Vegan options are available! My friend recently (12/30/20) bought me an iced coconut cinnamon latte with an Ecuamex espresso shot ($4.25). Here's my verdict: + I didn't think I would enjoy it so much because I usually don't care for coconut, but it was lightly sweetened and extra creamy without a single drop of dairy cream! + Cinnamon was definitely a prevalent ingredient in this concoction, but without overpowering the rest. +The espresso shot gave it more of an earthy, bold flavor that I am so glad I didn't pass up. I almost did because it was an afternoon treat, but the extra energy to make it through the final hours of the year ended up being necessary. I cannot wait to try more of their specialized drinks - but especially their house brew coffee! I drink my coffee black normally. It should be gooooood... (I'll post an update later). I tried my friend's hibiscus honey oatmilk latte - so tasty! Ecuamex is a HUGE proponent of sharing spaces with other small businesses. They often advertise where they will be at upcoming "shop small" events in addition to their pop-up locations. Sometimes they even sell baked goods from other small businesses. Follow them on Instagram @ecuamex_cafe to see where they will be next. Yep, I'm a fan por vida. :)

Let me be honest. It's a new business and when i went in It was super small and the menu was limited . Holy fuck! The Ecuamex coffee is delicious and super flavorful and If you're in a "diet" it's totally keto friendly since I'm on keto and it's low calories and carbs. Super delicious and potent. Natural ingredients. I loved it and the pricing is decent not overpriced just because of presentation. Like it's a passion. My bf got the cold brew. It wasn't as potent but it was delicious so he was able to finish it oppose to other cold brew he's gotten it lasts him a couple days.

Hibiscus Honey Oat Latte is great for kids, vegan donuts and assorted scones are bomb. They also have Kimdy's which are a good snack :)

BYE STARBUCKS. I first tried Ecuamex when they were working out of Play Collective in Downey in 2020. Since they've opened up their shop I have totally converted my Starbucks trips to Ecuamex trips and would never go back. When I walk in it smells like coffee heaven and instantly brings me a sense of calm. Everything they offer at la tiendita as well as the refreshments they make there is thoughtfully chosen and curated for their customers sheer enjoyment; you can taste the love and dedication in every drink. It will really make you question your entire coffee experience and wonder how a latte can actually taste that good. And to top it all off their cups, lids, & straws are biodegradable and much better options for the Earth than other coffee shops offer. Thank you Ecuamex for your perserverance and exceptional drinks; your quality and taste is unmatched!

I'm a sucker for local coffee shops, and I'm so happy to see you guys open up here in Downey! The service is awesome, the lovely barista made sure we were satisfied with our drinks. I got the HIBISCUS HONEY OATMILK and my boyfriend got the ECUAMEX. I was intrigued by the name of the coffee I chose and it was such a nice, different taste! I loved the aftertaste of hibiscus, it left my breath smelling floral! Lol. My boyfriend decided to go with his choice since it gave off an "OG" feeling since it is named after the shop. I got a taste of his and it tasted like love! It was all made with love. We'll for sure be coming back. We appreciate you and hope you get to achieve all your goals! Thank you.

Went in to try this coffee and help out a new small neighborhood business. I was very pleased. The first thing I enjoyed upon entering the small establishment was the courtesy and friendliness. I wanted to get the café de ills. I wasn't sure about oat milk but she immediately offered me a sample which I enjoyed. The coffee was not bitter and strong but strong and delicious the way I like it. I'm giving them a five star rating and I hope their company thrives!

I ordered from the kiosk and had zero interaction with the barista besides her calling my name, which was fine but worth noting if you're expecting a more social coffee experience. Now... the Biscoff matcha. I've never had Biscoff with matcha before, and honestly? God-sent. Soooo good. Sweet, creamy, and perfectly balanced. This might be my new favorite matcha pairing. Overall, small space and limited seating aside, the drinks are absolutely worth it. I'd come back just for that matcha alone.

Searching down the map for the drive back from LA, saw this interesting thing. And great reviews from others sealed the deal to try it out. Online ordering with pick up time was very convenient. Driving down, got a text about 5 min before pick up time, just perfect. Cute and super clean store. Friendly gal grabbed the order for me and I was off in no time. Got the party pack (30) for the school staff, and of course had to try for myself too with a regular (9). Ended up being an hour and a half before I got around to trying our box of 9. Looked interesting enough. Kid took his bite and said yum. I took mine to the sink (lol) to catch any crumbs, but surprised me that it's not just a ball of a regular donut. This had an amazingly satisfying crispy crunchy exterior, with an airy chewy interior! I can't imagine how much better it would be when freshly made at the store! Even an hour and a half later was delicious... Me and the kid quickly devoured our 3 each and struggled to leave 3 for wife before we had to go to an activity. When we returned, wife was also raving, what was that, where did you get it? Trust me, you will not be able to eat just one. I'm greedy, I definitely want more than 3 next time! Donut ball itself wasn't overly sweet, just delicious period. I guess it's the toppings that add the sweetness. Only tried the classic (honey cinnamon, walnut). The other flavors will probably be amazing desserts, but I think all I need is just the donut ball by itself. Honey and walnut adds a bit of sweetness and bite, but the base donut ball is a shining star on it's own in my book! Good thing was the honey was mostly on the bottom and walnut crumbles on top, so you can rub as much or not of those as it fits you. Update: They're no longer affiliated with Fivestars!…read more I've since gone two additional times to try their waffle bites. My last trip was kind of spontaneous because I suddenly got a Fivestars reward that day for these waffle bites. However, when I arrived, I was looking for the Fivestars tablet only to be met by a Clover tablet instead. It felt like I went through a time warp because the employee working behind the register didn't seem to have any idea what I was trying to say regarding Fivestars, though he did notice a little trifold card on the front counter mentioning Fivestars. I asked if he could get his manager so I could explain, and even show, him my Fivestars reward. The reward said "already accepted", which he almost thought meant I had redeemed it already, but if that were the case, then it would have said "already redeemed". Given that they've now done away with Fivestars, I'm not too surprised he may have gotten the words "accepted" confused with "redeemed", but luckily, he was happy enough to honor it for me. The employee who assisted me was very helpful, though he did ask me to repeat the topping and the drizzle that I wanted. I chose the Strawberry Cheesecake flavor ice cream with Fruity Pebbles toppings and a Strawberry drizzle on top. Since I had already tried the cookie flavors before, I figured I'd try the fruity flavors this time around. He said he needed about 5 minutes to prepare my waffle bites, which were presented a little different than last time. Last time, I got the Cookie Butter flavor with *Cookie* Crisp and Peanut *Butter* (see what I did there?), and it came in a small plastic takeout container. This one came in a large plastic cup, and I'm thinking the logistics may have changed a ton between my last two visits. I did appreciate how the employee asked if I wanted the waffles on top of or beneath the ice cream before making the waffle bites; I chose on top. He also asked if I'd like powdered sugar on top, to which I agreed. Unfortunately, neither of the waffle bites I got from my last two visits impressed me that much. As a matter of fact, the only thing that impressed me was the strawberry drizzle. Everything else fell kind of flat. While generous in size for the $8 price tag, the Cookie Butter and the Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream didn't really taste like these flavors at all! For whatever reason, the peanut butter didn't add much flavor, but the strawberry drizzle added a lot! How even?! In short, the waffle bites weren't that much of an upgrade from the ice cream scoop that I had on my first visit. I'm willing to say "too much good was no good" here. The waffles themselves were good, but they can only do so much when a flavored ice cream doesn't even taste like that flavor. It's worth noting that on my penultimate visit, when I got the Cookie Butter Waffle Bites, I saw two employees behind the front counter who were ready to take my order. I asked them to explain what the waffle bites were, but it took them a couple of tries to actually understand what I was asking. From what I gathered, the waffle bites were similar to the ice cream scoop I had on my first visit, but with the addition of a warm waffle to supplement the ice cream. However, the step-by-step process remains the same. I was initially told it would take 6 minutes to prepare the Cookie Butter Waffle Bites, but it actually took 15! It seemed like one was training the other or they were trying to gather the ingredients and/or the steps needed to create the waffle bites. After about 10 minutes, I was told by one of the employees they had to make a new batch of waffles because the first batch had burnt. The music was getting pretty loud, so it was hard to hear him after that, but I didn't want to hold up the kitchen prep process any longer. I just said "Alright, sure" so he could continue preparing my order. I do appreciate how he let me know of this so that I'd know the reason for the extended wait, but I wish they weren't so ill-prepared during my visit. So overall, still 3 stars overall. I appreciate the prior partnership with Fivestars, but these missed opportunities have led me to believe that Cravings is just not for me. I doubt I'll try anything else on their ice cream menu, and considering that there are only a few parking spots in their lot, it will take a lot to get me to try their hot chicken. And speaking of lack of parking, I also want to mention that on my second visit, I saw two open parking stalls right in front of Cravings, one on either side of a car. That car had its driver's side wide open so that I couldn't park there. I had to park on the passenger side of that car, which he left much less room for. Perhaps a microcosm of the clientele in this part of town? Everybody deserves a second chance, right? Unfortunately, not everybody can make the most of them, and this is just one example of such. Thanks for the sweet treats Cravings, but I'll get my next one somewhere else.
