EDCO has higher fees than WM and Daily, but there are no cancellation fees like those other companies have. I considered switching companies, but did not like the idea of signing a contract so I'm sticking with EDCO. They have provided satisfactory service (no problems at all) for the past several years. When I cancelled last week, they immediately refunded my money for the service they hadn't provided yet. After discovering the contracts and fees of the other 2 companies, I've decided to stick with EDCO. read more

Very poor service!!! Not by the guys who pick up our trash, but management. They are not allowed to get out of their trucks to pick up an extra bag or if you leave a big box (broken down) on top of the recycle and it falls off before it gets into the trash truck. Now comes the good business of this: because we live in condos and the guys were not allowed out of their trucks they could not get the trash containers to stay out of the carports for people coming home from work, so now the guys have to take their truck and park it out of the condos and walk back in to straighten the trash cans as we had them for them. Would it not be more cost effective to let the guys get out and straighten as they go. Edco, you are wasting your own money!!!! read more

I marked a gray EDCO can "Recycling" and left it out on trash day for two weeks. When no one picked up either trash or recycling for that can, I called to ask them for a new recycling can and to ask the driver to come back to pick up my recycling. The woman gave me a haughty reply that they only used cans that were the proper color. Then she hung up on me! read more

I have been living in a home since January and just finally received my bill addressed to lemon grove but they want to charge me the spring valley rate. I have had issues with edco since day one and the attitude is very much unappreciated. I'm not even a customer and I can tell they have very poor service. Edco dropped off 3 trash cans i didn't even order on Monday. I have called everyday for them to come take their trash cans, obviously their delivery guy dropped off to the wrong house. It's Friday and those cans are still sitting out in the street in front of my house. read more

I made a mistake and my payment did not go through. Well after that with out any notice or a warning. They came and took ALL my cans. I even had paid my bill that same day. They have horrible customer service as well. I tried to get them back the same day they took them and i am told I will have to wait a whole week to get my cans back. As a financially impacted college student and someone who believes in doing their part for the environment, the quick phone call I had with the EDCO in Lemon Grove hurt in more ways than one. When I called about turning in a broken refrigerator, I was told it would be a $55 fee to deliver the broken fridge, as the lady on the phone claimed it would be "trash". After a quick google search, I found out about the Metallic Discards Act of 1991, which "banned major appliances such as refrigerators, water heaters, washers, dryers, and air conditioners from landfill disposal and required them to be recycled for their metal content." This was also recently amended to remove the hazardous materials from it as well, and would charge the person delivering it a $25 fee...reasonable. There is one of two things wrong here, or feasibly both: I would've overcharged by EDCO for my ignorance to the appliance law here in San Diego, and/or the workers at this location are not trained whatsoever on basic laws that apply to what is being brought there, especially considering the hazardous materials in the fridge. I will happily take my appliance and money elsewhere, where they are capable of FOLLOWING THE LAW OR PROPERLY TRAINING THEIR EMPLOYEES. read more

Today is normal pick up trash day 92114 area. I cant stand this crap. (Im trying not to lose perspective) I should of complained along time ago. They have broke 3 of our black trash cans from their method of picking it up, slamming it against their trucks, and putting them down roughly to where the trash can is laid on its side. These guys are taking too long of breaks. Rushing through residential streets, faster than posted MPH, grabbing up the cans and slamming them down. And EDCO says Im reliable to replace the cans??WTF? How does that work out? I purchased the cans already 1 time. Your sloppy careless workers should come out the poicket, if not than its on you EDCO. I didnt destroy my garbage cans. You guys did. Im low income, fighting cancer and many more illnesses. Im not throwing that out there for pity, or woes me, but come the *uck on. I give them no stars at this time. ZERO. On three occasions I have dealt with their customer service. First was an inquiry when we first moved here. The other two were billing issues (which both turned out to be mistakes on my behalf). Their customer service people were exceptionally nice, patient and informed. They took their time when we had questions about the service and were very thorough. They were friendly and never annoyed as we tried to figure out the billing issues. When we were discussing the issues, the tone is controlled by the customer service rep - they can make it combative or they can be helpful and keep the conversation calm. They kept it calm. And that does not happen with every company, as I am pretty sure we all know. They deal with trash and they have a large not-quite-a-monopoly sized-stake in La Mesa (where I am). I really expected more attitude, or at least, I did not expect them to really be that helpful. I was pleasantly surprised. read more

They are always at my house at pretty much the same time every week so I know exactly when I need to have my trash cans out. I will use them for life. In the real estate business we often have to clean the trash out of houses we buy. We use different companies to bring out trash bins so we can load in the trash. Edo does a good job. I would have given them a higher rating but one of their customer service reps gave us a lot of attitude on one occasion. They get the job done. read more

Lately their service is non-existent. Customer service is a joke, best to call at night as a fairy tale bed time story, because they sure don't mean what they say. I should start hiding the check in the trash and tell them they need to search for it, maybe then they'll actually provide pick up service. It is not random so many reviews on here are terrible regarding EDCO's customer service. What an absolute joke of a business. We live in a rural area and since moving in have always been on a dumpster. EDCO's drivers must be underpaid and unmotivated, because they can't seem to figure out how to negotiate dirt roads. Our road can get minor bumps from the rain but they are nothing that a driver who is watching the road can't navigate. Seriously - when you can watch all kinds of well service trucks, power company trucks, and gas service trucks - all of similar gross vehicle weight or HEAVIER drive these roads with ease...it proves EDCO's drivers are crying babies who don't understand they are expected to actually DO their job. Often they wont show up at all. WHEN they do show up it is as if they get points for throwing as much trash on the ground as possible. In the end, EDCO was supposed to negotiate with us a call for pick up service and relay to us the price. That call never came. Without that call, they sneakily decided to force us into a premium rate by simply refusing to continue with the regular route, and stating our bill would climb from $142 per MONTH to $220 per single PICKUP! Keep in mind our previous rate included four pickups.When I told customer service this was unacceptable, Caroline (or Carolina) Atkinson, their customer service manager, decided to aggressively and extremely rudely fail to provide any customer service whatsoever. She decided to YELL over the customer, dismiss our concerns, and quite obviously flex what she feels is a position of power. I have a complaint in to her supervisor but I think everyone reading this knows they will take care of their own and nothing will come of it...their phone calls don't seem to be recorded. This is the beauty of the free market people. We very quickly decided to cancel the account all together, and within 5 minutes of that phone call researched the options and realized that taking the one or two trips to the dump when required ourselves with cans is OVER HALF AS CHEAP as EDCOs service, even before they tried locking us into a corner on our bill, with gas and commute included and is a minimal time investment. I can't stand businesses that feel they don't need the approval of the customer to survive, and would encourage every rural customer to quickly look into the price difference between a morning task yourself and paying a company that thinks they're untouchable. Absolutely the worst service I've ever been provided, if I could take stars away from them I would. Avoid at all costs and leave as soon as you can, you will thank yourself for it. read more

I have been using Edco now for 3 plus years When I first bought my home there were full and broken trash cans left on the property They quickly picked them up the next day and removed the ear sore when I called back a week later to start my service for that following week they had new trash cans out to me the next day. Every time I have called with a question they have been helpful and shown great customer service. Also at times I pay in person as I live down the street and the receptionist at the front desk when you walk in is always sweet chatty and friendly. I actually enjoy paying my bill in person. Another note is that I did have to call on one occasion because my yard waste stayed half full when the truck tried to dump it when I went out to bring it in and saw this I called them and again they were very nice and the truck was sent back out and it was completely emptied on another occasion Some one actually sole the blue recycle can...not just the bottles But the entire can You can imagine my shock I immediately called them in fear of what it would cost me...After I told them what happened they actually said I'm so sorry for that let me know they would have a new can out asap and I would not be charge to replace the stolen can. I was very grateful and have now spray painted our house # on the cans. I can honestly say they have never been anything but great with me when it comes to customer service or the trash pick up. I have never had any trash problems until Edco bought out the other company that serviced my area. The service they offer is generally decent unless you use the greens can, that driver is an idiot. If the lid sticks up just a few inches he leaves notes on your trash can and this happened once again despite me leaving their lousy service since I borrowed my neighbor's cans. My neighbors and I share cans when we are doing large jobs and the ONLY company that has any problems with the greens bin is the Edco driver. I dropped them for another provider in my area and have never seen any of the company's chase customers away in this manner. As I walk the neighborhood, I see the driver's notes on other cans and have to wonder how long it will be before more people change their trash company. I spoke to their management once and explained I was changing trash companies and had no intention of yelping them at that time. After this weekend's incident that only the trash cans serviced by Edco being tagged while the other company had no issue with the cans, they fully earned this poor review. read more

Edco customer service is officially dead. They get the trash picked up ok. No problem there. However, today when I called about bulk pickup, the woman I spoke with couldn't have been less helpful or less friendly. She gave me the feeling this service was a big favor to customers and not part of the service I PAY FOR. And she had a major attitude. Although their website states they will pick up bulk items placed "at the curb or the end of your driveway by 6:00 a.m." she told me this wasn't the case and that they would only pick up where your bins are picked up and not at the end of your driveway. She said that if the items wouldn't fit on the small space on the shoulder of the road where we place our bins , they would NOT go around the corner a COUPLE OF FEET AWAY and pick them up at the end of my driveway. The funny thing is when we started the service, the end of our driveway is exactly where they dropped the bins off!! Extending this most minor level of customer service would've taken NO extra time or effort, and would have made me a very happy customer. Sadly, I should've realized Edco is going the way of Waste Management when my call was intercepted by their new automated system and I was on hold for several minutes. I miss the days when a company with competition actually cared about making customers happy. read more

When you call this company, they make the customer wait on hold for a minimum of 10 minutes. The people who answer the phone treat the customer with disdain. I proactively called a month before I needed service to start in order to have service ready when I needed it. I was billed for that month before they actually started service. Then they told me it was MY fault for calling so far ahead of needing service. Additionally, the drivers leave the trash cans scattered all over the end of the driveway and I was told that's just the way it's going to be. Waste Management was so much more professional than this company; use them if you can. read more

Have been an EDCO residential customer for several years. No complaints, whatsoever. Fair pricing, Polite drivers. Timely pickups.

I rented a dumpster from them and their pick up is on time. the issue that I have is with the office help. I called to have the dumpster picked up and due to their screw up, I am paying 135 extra dollars for a dumpster I did not use. I use ramona disposal for my regular trash and they are great. But will be finding another service because they are part of EDCO. read more

We've had Edco's service since moving into our home in Pine Valley over 14 years ago. We have horses and at the time, Edco was the only service that would allow horse manure in the dumpsters. That was the main reason for signing up with Edco. Over the years, for the most part we have been very pleased with their service. We've had a couple of missed pick ups, our rates have increased a couple of times, but nothing really negative, at least until now. We received a phone call this morning from Edco, informing us that they have decided to increase our rates to $300 dollars a month for a once a week pick up, and they gave us one week before the change will take place. This was not just a normal cost of doing business increase. Our monthly rate is going to triple. The reasoning is, that the manure is apparently too heavy and they are having to put us on a different route. News to us after almost 15 years of never receiving a complaint from Edco about our dumpster being too heavy, or over loaded, nothing. Not only that, we currently have a small dumpster which is used for our horse manure and regular household trash. I was told our rate would go up to $300 a month. When I asked about the larger dumpsters they have available, I was told those would also be $300 a month. So my small dumpster which is going to weigh much less then the larger dumpsters, will cost the same amount. What's wrong with this picture Edco??????? There are many in our community that have horses, in our case two, our neighbors one.......sure seems like we are being taken advantage of here. read more
