I called Edd Helms to service my A/C on a Saturday. I understood that this would be an emergency call. Technician came out and diagnosed the compressor fan was bad. I was charged $1877.00. Well, the fan failed again. I called Edd Helms and they sent a technician. The technictold me it was not the correct fan and said the last technician installed a temporary fan to get the a/c working. I told the technician I was not notified during the repair that the fan was temporary. So, the second technician replaced the fan. (the previous fan motor broke within 2 months). After the right fan was installed, the technician said that it would be a $500 charge. I said the other fan should be under warranty, I just paid $1877.00! He put the manager on and I told him I was not paying for another motor after I spent $1877. This part was under warranty. We'll, the manager told the technician not to charge me. Now, 6 months have passed and the fan motor is out again. I called Edd Helms. The lady was nice BUT told me that I was put on a "do not repair list" so I could not do business with Ed Helms. Further, no manager was there today to explain the reason for no repair. Edd Helms is not reputable at all. The price was very high and the repair failed twice. Do not use this company!! ​ read more

Fantastic experience with Tim! He was very communicative, calling ahead in the morning to give an estimate of his arrival time and even asked if he could arrive a bit sooner since he was tracking earlier. Explained things helpfully and clearly. When he saw a requested job to hook up our heating would be much more complicated than expected, he explained things thoroughly with no pressure to move forward and he did made sure not charge us for this since no work was done and it was a consultation. During this incredible heat wave, the last thing one needs is an AC emergency. When I realized that the unit in my apartment was over twenty years old, I decided to investigate possibilities for replacement. Awaiting proposals from several [licensed] groups servicing my location, Edd Helms Inc. responded immediately to schedule an on-site appointment. Project manager, Michael Larabee, took the time to explain options as well as possible issues with clarity, all without pressure sales. The other groups whom I had contacted only sent email proposals or no response at all. I have learned from experience that the lowest bid is not always the best bid. Edd Helms Group included warranties of work and maintenance for a longer period as well as product specs plus two choices depending upon my budget. The proposal included many details for cost analysis whereas the other groups just wrote a bottom line figure without any specifics. Installation is now complete. Recommended by Trane as "comfort specialists" who are local experts in servicing expensive Trane units and the Trane technology factory warranty. After paying for a service call we never received any follow up from the technician or members of the office staff. When we did call, we were told that although Edd Helms works closely with Trane, in our case Trane refused to honor their warranty, and there is nothing Edd Helms can do. Apparently, had we not followed up with Edd Helms, we would have never heard from them. They were extremely unhelpful and dismissive. We only called them because they advertise themselves as Trane experts and were recommended by Trane. Obviously I would be very hesitant to have them install a new unit or do any business with them in the future. read more

After sending me a bill that was on a strange transaction date of October 6 & the invoice date of November 2. You replied in your manner, which is why this is horrific service accross the board. He shouldn't have even got the "tip" as you called it. I would have happily paid the $125 if he actually inspected it. I did pay another company to do a full diagnosis & the work just a few days after that was way more upfront & professional. How would you like to receive a bill from a company that you already had a bad experience with & waste more of your time to reach out to them and work things out with them when they're making up dates they worked at your residence. Unbelievable rip off. When a/c technician came and saw I needed insulation for my cooling pipe he wanted to drive to a supply store to get it. But at his 125$ per hour labor fee. with traffic and parking that is 250$. Crazy. I said I will get myself and he can come back. I found out the insulation costs 3$ at the supply store. Even though I paid 95 $ for the service call he left without even nailing down the saftey strap which had come loose and keeps unit from flying away during hurricane. Wow! I no longer need to even go to the competition because I totally trust this company. The service my apartment and they also were able to handled a difficult Electrical diagnostic in my condo after a Fire Alarm installation company drilled thru a conduit line. The Fire Alarm company refused to fix our loss of electric. Edd Helms Electrical diagnosed the area and proved to the Fire Alarm Company that they were responsible for the loss of electric to half of our building. Better yet, sign up for their service plan BEFORE it happens to you. We've had the plan in place for several years, and it means we get 2 free maintenance checks per year. We've always enjoyed their friendly professional service, but this year we screwed up. We went out of town twice in a row and somehow let our service plan lapse. Ack! You should have heard the swearing in our house when we pulled out the paperwork and realized we were 2 days past the deadline to renew--and the temp outside is a million degrees with four-thousand percent humidity--Noooo! So we called up Edd Helms ready to beg, "We've been members for like, 8 years, you gotta help us!" After all, most business owners would lick their chops and rub their palms together at this point, "Too bad, suckers, full price for you!" But NO! When our power started to function at half power, I called Edd Helms. I described the problem, and was told to contact FPL first as it may be an issue with them. After their quick repsonse and being told the issue was not FPL's, I called Edd Helms again and was told the closest technician was in Ft. Lauderdale. Best HVAC in South Florida---can't live without Dion as a service technician. Been with Edd Helms for over 15 years-- use their Value Club to have our home ACs serviced 2 times a year. They are the best. Dion is the bestest--whenever a unit has a tricky problem he is always there to help me out. Today was a Dion Saviour day--thought it was my electricity bc circuit breaker was tripped. Almost had Edd Helms Electric come out. But Dion's brilliance told me to have Dion check ac first and Thank G-d followed his advice and it was the a\c which he repaired and we are on our merry way! There is an important addendum to add to my complaint. I thought a few weeks was enough to wait for a customer care response, but it turns out I was wrong, and I am happy to report this. I was contacted by Edd Helms Customer Care department shortly after I posted my problem. They apologized for what happened and made a very reasonable attempt to satisfy me. I believe their apology was sincere and not motivated by my complaint. They did not ask me to take down my complaint nor to post this. The Helms outreach effort was fair enough to prompt me to return as a customer and in fact I have a plumbing need coming up for which I will call them first. One reason this bothered me so much was based in two things the tech told me. He said that Edd Helms is a union shop and that their field staff does not work on commission. These are two big issues that motivated me to be loyal to them. For that reason I was extra hurt when this event occurred because I'm an old union member myself, and I've always felt a little sqishy when other company's repair reps recommend expensive modifications. I don't necessarily doubt their honesty, but it's always there. As far as I am concerned, the issue is resolved and I believe any reasonable customer would agree. read more

Edd Helms Electric and Air Conditioning installed an AC unit (Ruud RA16, 5 ton, 16 seer system for $6444) in my home on 11/18/2020. On the same day of the install I noticed that there was a problem with the AC unit. The unit was not cooling the home appropriately, the air handler was shaking, rattling and making a bothersome whistling noise. I contacted the company about these issues and each time they came to my home they did not fix the problem. They came to my home on 11/19/20, 11/24/20, 11/25/20, 12/17/20 and finally on 1/7/21. When they (the service manager, the install manager, the account manager) came to my home on 1/7/21, they collectively decided to ignore the obvious whistling, rattling and vibrating of the the unit and stated that they noticed nothing wrong and that the unit was functioning normally. Even the service manager, who while he was at my home on 12/17/20 acknowledged the whistling and rattling, was now agreeing with the other two men that he hears no whistling and sees no problem with the unit. All three of these men walked out of my house without properly addressing my concern. One of the men (Ron Thompson - the accounts manager) was seen on video footage from my door bell camera saying "man I am really going to fuck them in two". He then removed his used shoe covers and dropped them at my front door and stated "I'm going to take these off and leave them right by the front door". Then they all left. I have video footage to prove this. I even filed a report with the Miramar police department as I was not sure if him stating that he was going to "fuck them in two" was a threat to me and my husband. After they left my home on 1/7/21, I immediately called Ron Thompson to discuss what had happened during the visit and he did not allow me to get a word in. He was very rude to me. He cut me off at every opportunity during the conversation and finally (and very rudely ) stated that at this point all they want to do is "rip" the unit from my home and refund me, then he hung up the phone on me. He (and Edd Helms AC company) were not willing to work with me or help me to come up with a solution. My satisfaction as a customer meant nothing to them. All they wanted to do at that point was I get rid of me and leave me without an AC unit in my home. My comfort, satisfaction, and happiness as a customer meant nothing to them. They were absolute sharks. I was in such disbelief at the blatant rudeness and dispespect that I became overwhelmed and tearful. I could not believe that I was treated so poorly by a company that was supposedly highly rated for AC services and installation. I accepted their offer to remove the unit from my home and they came to remove the unit on 1/12/2020. Per email correspondence between Ron Thompson and I, I was to be refunded within 5 to 7 business days after the removal of the AC unit. It has been over 40 days and I have not received a refund. I inquired with Karin Larabee from accounts receivable at Edd Helms and she stated that a refund can not be processed until after the permit has been closed out by the city of Miramar's building department. How unreasonable. Why should I have to wait for the city of Miramar to close out the AC permit to receive my refund? The AC unit is in Edd Helms' possession. They have removed from me the services that were rendered to me so why can't they hold up their end of the deal and refund me my money? If the city of Miramar never closes out this permit, does that mean I will never receive my refund? If it takes the city of Miramar months to close out his permit, does that mean I will have to suffer for many more months to come (including a hot summer in Florida) without an AC unit? I am still without AC in my home right now, as I am waiting for the Edd Helms to refund me my money so that I can contract a new/better AC company for a new installation. Please spare yourself the misery and AVOID this company. They are absolutely horrible and their employees are incredibly rude. read more

Go with HIVAC AIR CONDITIONING S.E. 1-888-6921044, they were pleasant, accommodating and their price was $320 compared to the $430+$150 Edd Helms wanted to charge. It was Saturday morning when I got in touch with Edd Helms through the 800 number on Trane website and off hours operator told me from the beginning that the diagnostics would be $150 and if I decided to get the unit repaired, those $150 would go towards the repair. Tech came and checked unit, gave diagnostic and called the office to quote for repair price (put me on speaker). The price quoted was "after hours" for replacing the blower motor $950 but if done during normal hours $650. I said I would call again on Monday. Technician told me to make sure I tell them to deduct the $150. I called in Monday morning and they said they would check to see if they had the part and would call me back (Never called me back to give me the appt. or to tell me they found the part) I had to call them back only after I had already done their homework of calling Trane to find out the part was under warranty and that they had it in stock for pick up. I called Edd Helms back to let them know of my findings and I needed labor price only because the part was under warranty. All of the sudden the story changed and they said I should have been charged $320 for the initial diagnostics call on Saturday and that those $150 paid did not apply to the repair because in order to have that credit, the repair had to be done the same day (nobody told me this before I booked the appt... not the operator or the tech!). My labor cost would be $430 aside from the $150 already paid. I called the tech and he agreed once more with me "over the phone" that I should get the $150 credit. Called office once more and when they called the tech only to deny what he told me over the phone minutes before. Bottom line THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE!!!! Worst experience ever. These guys are in charge of installing the new chiller at the Condo building where I live in Collins Avenue, Miami Beach. They haven't installed it correctly so all the floors above it have been experiencing non-stop, 24/7 sounds and vibrations for months now and you know what we get from them every week? "Next week". I don't know why the Management in my building hired them, probably they are friends or something but given the customer service they are offering us, I'd never use them on my own and would only recommend them to an enemy. They installed a brand new unit last year that broke down last Thursday (yes, on Thanksgiving) and replacement parts will not be available until 2nd week of December. Terrible service! I called them because they supposedly had good reviews. First they said they would be there from 12-2....And the tech would call me when they were on their way. They didn't show or call. I called and they said no your appointment is 2-4. (Not true but since I was willing to work with them being I didn't have air) At 4:30 I called wanting to know when they would be there. . I told them they could still come by but I would need an advance call at that point about 20' since my tenant had left. The person I spoke with was very rude and not helpful on giving an advance call. I had explained that my tenant had been waiting all day and I was willing to meet the technician but needed about 20' advance call. The technician finally called and said he was 5' away....And I said i was about 10-15' away and was told "my tech will NOT stay 1 more minute past 10'. At that point I was so frustrated and disgusted with the lack of customer service and decided to find another company. read more

Week later they send a salesman out to her house and talked her into a new A?C for $4,000. at 99 years old she was taken, she did not need a new system , the old system was fine.
