This was our first time visiting here. We live on the east side of Lafayette and this was well worth our trip! We walked in and we're immediately greeted and we asked if we could sit in the bar area. There is a divider between the bar area and the family section so you can bring the kids! As soon as you walk in the door you were hit with the great smell of barbecue. I always enjoy walking in a place and smelling that and then leaving and still smelling like the restaurant the rest of the night. We were served by the bartender and she was very nice and made some good suggestions for the menu. She also let us sample one of the draft beers they had on tap. They have Yuengling Lager on tap which always makes me happy. I ordered the pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich with the mac and cheese on the side. The sandwich was just filling enough. It left me full but not stuffed. The mac and cheese was a good side and had a good portion. My wife got the pulled pork nachos and had enough left over that she was able to have lunch the next day!! The limited hours make this restaurant tough for us to visit sometime, but I'm glad that we did and we will definitely be back! read more

Very popular for small town within 10 miles from Lafayette. Pulled pork and brisket are main entrees. Friday nights only for ribeye steaks. See their website for full menu. I would suggest making reservations. It is very popular. They subscribe to the OpenTable app to make reservations. I think the decor is nice. On busy nights, it could get pretty noisy. A hidden gem! I hadn't heard of this place until some fellow foodie friends recommended it to me. It's in West Point, just a short and pretty drive from West Lafayette. Before living here in West Lafayette, I lived in Texas and, walking into Eddie Joe's, I felt like I was walking back into Texas! Loved the vibe this place gave! The menu has a good mix of bbq and tex mex. I couldn't decide between tex mex and bbq so I ordered the brisket tacos. The food was good. Not my favorite, but good. My issue was the brisket was SO smokey. If you love a smokey flavor, this bbq is for you. I've had bbq all over the US and this is the smokiest I've ever had and I wasn't a fan. The rest of the day, even after brushing my teeth, I felt like I had been licking the bbq grill directly. I'd like to go back and try something different. I ate at Eddie Joe's tonight, as usual great food, but I really want to tell you what happened. I left my credit card there and I'm going on a trip tomorrow so I really needed it just so happened. I found out about this because the owner sent me a Facebook text. They were supposed to be opened, but I went Uber and nobody was there, I was able to get ahold of the owner Lee and he took his time to bring me my card. This was so important as I was traveling to see my son during the holiday. Kudos to Lee and I tried to give him my reward for his help. He did not want to take this. He told me a story about that something that happened to him at that restaurant before he owned it. I admit to skepticism that Hoosiers could deliver on the "Tex-Mex" aspect, but this establishment is legit and well worth the drive. We had the street tacos, with brisket and pulled pork. The dish was served with a salsa that was intriguing and clearly home-made. The tomatoes were fire-roasted and it had a great kick. It was a little too sweet for my taste, but it worked with the pulled pork tacos. The beer list has some strong offerings with a wide range from mass produced to local and regional microbrews. Overall tasty food. We showed up right after they opened, and were one of three tables in the restaurant. Despite this, it took 40 minutes for our food order to be placed. The food came out quickly after that with good flavor. The green beans as a side were disappointing (tasted more from a can than the traditional BBQ green beans) but the pork was good on texas toast. First time trying this place. Looks nice and the style is great. The food wasn't great though. My husband's chicken street taco had a sharp bone in it that he crunched in to. He said the overall taste was "okay". My son got the Mac and cheese. I tried it and it seemed like it was just cooked noodles with a little cheese baked on top. No flavor. I had the queso burger. It had pulled pork on it, which sounded really good, but several times when I took a bite it was mushy pork fat. I scraped the pulled pork off and continued to eat and it just tasted burnt. The fries were also soggy. You could even taste on them that they weren't cooked as long as needed. Tables were also sticky, so it just didn't even feel like a clean environment to eat at. I wanted to love this place. BBQ is my favorite meal, so looked forward to trying EJI. I ordered the 1/4 chicken with pit beans and southwest mac and cheese. When served, the chicken was dark meat (ok w/me) and the sides were in little paper boats. Mac-n-cheese- flavor was good-cheese and bread crumbs- and jalapeños, corn(?) and onion?!? I would have preferred simple. The pit beans were two different kinds of bean cooked in the one bbq sauce that they offer here, and it has a very sweet flavor. Beans were well cooked. Chicken quarter meat had good flavor, but the skin was weird and lead me to believe it had not been smoked. Same sauce on the beans was only sauce offered on the side. Overall I was disappointed. Wife ordered pulled pork/slaw/green bean salad. Pork was fatty but was well flavored. I will go back and order enchiladas next time. Just wish the meat had been better. read more

Bbq good. Started off with smoked wings and potato fingers. Good flavor. Got the street tacos and my friends got pork tenderloin and brisket plate. Tacos were good just needed more meat in them. Pork tenderloin is fried, wasn't pounded thin like traditional tenderloin in Indiana. Coleslaw was flavor less and pit beans were way too sweet.
