We had dinner at about 5pm before the Friday night rush. Service was good. Atmosphere was welcoming with tunes on the radio. The bbq burger was absolutely amazing. We stopped through here when passing through the area. It was a Saturday evening, the weather was decent, but we were surprised to see just a few people at the bar. The bartender and other service staff was friendly, and our server was very pleasant. Food came out quickly and it was delicious. The menu has a nice selection. The only thing I'd like to see are a few more choices on the beer list, but it's a decent list and I found something I enjoyed. We'd definitely stop by here on our way through again. read more

HOLYYYYYY SMOKES!!!!!! Let my start by saying, my husband and I have been driving back and forth between Phoenix, AZ and Roswell, NM this weekend, and we are "bar people". I have been in the industry for 15 years and married my favorite regular, we love good food, fantastic service and our road trip was missing all of that before we stumbled upon XA. One review reads "best cowboy breakfast within 100 miles".... Honey, I'm here to tell you this was the best breakfast between home and his mommas house in! The biscuits are baked in a Dutch oven over wood fire behind the bar and the chicken fried steak was thicker than the layer of smog over downtown Los Angeles. The service was just as good, with both the bartender and server (owner?) coming over to chat. I even popped my head in the window to thank the cook for such amazing food! My husband and I are planning the 3.5 hour drive back for dinner, it will be worth it! read more

We are locals so it dosent matter if you're passing through or a local. There is usually only one server during the week. She works the bar, tables, and the register. When she should be making rounds to check on what might be needed or forgotten, they stand at the bar and talk to their buddies and other employees that just happened to get off and go sit at the bar! It's so frustrating because the food and the cooks are great! So if you are in a hurry, choose another place. Somebody give these girls a lesson on SERVICE!!!!! Thanks in advance! read more

We're visiting our friends in this area and we came here for dinner. Ambiance is bustling with lots of people having a good time and a cool juke box and pool tables in the adjacent room. Our servers were awesome! Very attentive and pleasant. I ordered the XA burger with onion rings, it was huge, picture perfect and amazing! Wish I took a pic! It's angus beef and they cooked my medium rare liking just to the tee!! My hubby ordered the Philly Cheesesteak with waffle fries, also delicious!! Will definitely be back & try other menu options next time we're in this area. I hope it stays here for years to come and gets continued support from the community here!! Oh! My husband and I stopped in to relax after a long day. We really wish we hadn't! My husband had a few drinks while I had to return my first soda because it was flat, and I had to settle for a flavor that I don't really like. That's okay, I get it. We stayed until closing. When I went to the bar to give the staff a tip, they gave me a bill for $35. We had been paying cash!? We go outside to leave, and my husband got jumped, thrown to the ground by some woman, then another patron proceeded to kick him in the face,while he is on the ground. The police showed up to our house and arrested my husband!! If you're new in town, don't go to this bar!!!! read more

We made our first visit and wow it was great!! We had breakfast and certainly can recommend it as a great place for breakfast or lunch....make sure you try the cowboy coffee. We also learned how much interesting history belongs to this bar!! Totally cool that it has been open since 1949. Really cool that the long term murals on the wall have been there since the beginning I think, and the murals are actually of town people when they were painted! Great place, great food, great service!! You will definetly enjoy! read more

The steak fries were not great at all. The waffle fries would occasionally crunch and taste like dirt and the steak was super thin pieces of over cooked steak and not many pieces.The service was slow and we were never checked on and we sat right at the bar. It appeared to be the only place in town to stop at besides sonic or Dairy Queen on a Sunday so I suspect it was busy because there aren't many choices but we were just passing thru so maybe we didn't order what they are known for being good at cooking? Had lunch here after a hike on Saturday. The food here is outstanding! I had the BLT and my hiking partner had a burger and they were both REALLY good. I've only been here once, and that was a disaster for me. we didn't know it but we had to go upfront after we had been seated to order our food. they were five of us in our party and we all ordered ribeye steak. Everybody's but mine was brought. It took them a while to realize they hadn't brought mine so the waitress went back and told her cook.by the time I got mine everybody else was just about through with theirs and mine wasn't even a ribeye. I can't Evan tell you what kind it was. It wasn't cooked right and didn't taste right. So I didn't eat a lot of it.the others said they're were good to Ok. I don't think I will go back!! read more
