Service is horrible!!! They used to be friendly when first oponed, now Ede is unfriendly and rude. Given her several tries thinking oh maybe shes having bad day. Nope shes just rude. Note to her...there are many other options to eat in Ripon which are friendly and courteous...Thats where we eat now. read more

I couldn't believe how expensive this place is.Came in to get 2 burritos one being a plain asada with no extras and a drink...23.00$.There medium soda is rhe size of a small and they charge extra for grilled chicken and extra to hold off certain items in the burrito.Not to mention its terrible food.Ppl who dont know what good food is probably wont complain but foodie ppl will b quick to say what overly priced trash food this is read more

I'm giving one star for nostalgic reasons, for the former staff when they first opened and the people were friendlier and food was better. Called in and a girl with no phone manners took our order, we had to go over it three times to get it right. It was a burrito w/just carne,rice,cheese. She recited every combination other than that back to me twice before getting it right on the third try. There are the only 3 ingredients.also ordered the chicken nacho fries, total came out to a whopping $18! For those two items. To add insult to injury, fries were the only good part, I have literally never in my life had worse tasting or dryer chicken than what they out on those nachos. They ought to seriously be ashamed of themselves. We normally go to Ripon Taqueria or the meat market by CVS, but I was trying to spread the love (and our wasted money) and give some business to someone else this time-lesson learned. If you have to stay in Ripon, LA Mexicana for a la carte items or Ripon Taqueria are the way to go, avoid Las Casuelas & now Ede's. If you have time to head to Modesto, Does Compadres on McHenry is my absolute favorite. Delicious food and the best service I've ever gotten, plus the prices are incredibly reasonable :) read more

DO NOT HIRE TO CATER AN EVENT Hired them to have a taco bar at a party to serve food for 2 hours, 5:30pm - 7:30pm. We hired them over the people who do this on the side because we liked Ede's food when we visit their shop. However let me list the issues. 1. They were supposed to arrive at 4:30 to set up, they arrived at 4:55pm 2. Overall unfriendly to my guest. Some said "hi, how are you" in which they received a blank stare back. 3. We paid before hand for 5 quesadilla's for the kids attending. Well I guess they expected these kids to go up and ask for the quesadilla's themselves. When their parents ordered one they were all told, "she only paid for 5 and for the kids only". How embarrassing is that when guest are told that? 4. The workers kept asking what my guest did with their plate when they went for more food. Even having an argument with a guess that went like this: Worker: "why did you throw away your plate" Guest: " oh sorry I threw it away, thought it was UN-sanitary to re-use the plates. If you don't want to give me another plate you can give me a taco on a napkin" Worker: "a napkin, really?, here is a plate" 5. They were supposed to be serving until 7:30pm, however they shut down at 7:05pm 6. Before leaving they were to leave all the left overs. I witnessed them putting food back into their storage containers and they left use with just a few servings of each meat. And a 1/2 tray of rice and beans and 2 bowls of salsa's. We paid for 15 more people than were actually there, so there should have been tons of left overs. I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM HIRING THEM TO CATER YOUR EVENT, YOUR BETTER OFF ANYWHERE ELSE. Heck no... the employees have a big attitude towards high school students! Also, i ordered a burrito with beef, rice, and beans and when i came in the burrito had Beef and tomato.. really? I asked for an exchange and i told them that i wanted a burrito with beef, rice, and beans, and they gave me a burrito with ONLY beef!? Really? Please, people have some respect for younger people. I have to admit I am really burned out on Mexican food. I find it hard to understand a culture that has the soil and climate to grow anything in the world, yet rice (which was imported) and beans are the standard side dishes for 99% of their dishes. Having said that, this cafe is actually okay. The main reason for my review, however, is that I notice a number of seniors around the room and a few came in to order take out. The seniors attraction turned out to be Tuesday taco for $1.00. I notice some with one or maybe two tacos. They were also served chips and salsa. The tacos looked good, fair size, choice of meat lots of cheese. So where else can someone go, on a limited budget, and have a sit down meal for a couple of bucks? read more

Food is okay, not great not bad. It's a little pricey except for Taco Tuesday and Thursday. $1 tacos are worth it. It's been a good little meeting place for us to get together for a quick bite with some friends a couple times a month. However, after yesterday we will not be returning. I ordered a michelada off the happy hour menu. It states "buy one at regular price, get 1/2 off the 2nd). Figured I'd drink my one and if we stayed I would order the 2nd. After eating the overpriced, $6, very small quesadilla, nachos, ceviche tostada, and some chips (not salsa. Its usually good but not this time), we decided to have another drink. My husband went up to order his beer and my 2nd michelada and then we were told to get the buy one get one 1/2 off they had to be ordered together at the same time. No where does it state that. Had I known I would have just ordered 2 to begin with......maybe I should have known???? I would have cancelled the order at that time if it were me but my husband felt bad because they had already poured his beer so he paid full price....again. Now, I do understand this, but it seems to me good customer service would have been to honor the happy hour pricing for us this time and confirm we understand for next time. (They also should write it on the menu). She simply apologized and sent us on our way. Being in the customer service business we feel its important to provide the best service which isn't always easy but usually appreciated. Hands down best chicken enchiladas I have eatin in a Mexican restaurant. The food was hot; enchiladas were stuffed with chicken; beans were perfect and not salty; rice was like Mom's. Dish was basic in presentation...no fancy garnishing to add color...but a hearty serving! Perfecto y Sabroso. I will be back! read more

The food here is great... But the staffs attitude is not so great... I came one time to go eat lunch and the own MANAGER was giving attitude and back talking to teenage clients! This was very embarrassing to watch... They don't greet any high schoolers or talk to them when they're food is ready just put the dish on the table rudely and walk away... I did like their tacos, but when my girlfriend went in yesterday to get some food and to get our kitten out of the heat. The staff said she could not leave the kitten alone to order some tacos. I mean come on the kitten is in a kennel and would be left alone for less than 2 to maybe 3 minutes at most. There are no visible signs that say no animals aloud except service animals. Ede's provides the some of the cheapest, fastest, and best food available on Main Street in Ripon. However, the service you'll get is almost nonexistent, save for a waitress *sometimes* asking if you need a new bottle of ketchup. More often than not, the only interaction you'll have with any staff member is giving them your money and receiving change in return, or approaching the front register to ask for napkins/ketchup/etc. only to have to wait 15 minutes, even when there are less than 2 other customers in there. Recently I've decided to no longer go to Ede's. The second to last time I went, there was a new woman working the register who charged $8 more for my group's meal than it should have been, and when we asked about it, told us it was tax and offered to talk to us about it when her manager returned the next time we came. The next time we came, her manager was overseeing her training at the register. I asked about the $8 difference from the last time we ordered the usual meal for our group, and the manager said, "You paid $8 last time? You want to pay more now then? Go back to your table." Very unnecessary interaction, and very unneeded attitude. I would've been fine with a "we can't do anything about it, sorry," but now I don't think I'll be returning to Ede's anytime soon, and if you're only coming for Taco Tuesdays you can go to the taqueria. 1/5. read more
