I recommend this tailor as they do great work and you WILL receive your suit or dress the same day; however, be prepared to wait. This place is ALWAYS super busy, especially now that most teenagers are purchasing prom dresses and suits/tuxedos. The line to get to the counter, as I write this review, is 17 people long. We were told there would be a 1.5-hour wait when we dropped off two dresses to be tailored, and we are now up to 2.5 hours with no end in sight. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the dress wasn't ready the day we were told to pick it up. We were told on Monday it would be ready on Friday. We knew they opened at 9 am but, had early appointments had some trouble getting through a lot of traffic down to DTLA. By the time we showed up (6pm) we were told the dress wasn't ready, and to "wait an hour". Not wanting them to rush job the dress (even though they had 4 days with it) we were understanding- they were very busy. So we just decided to come back the following day (going to the fashion district in the middle of a Saturday- i DO NOT recommend- parking is IMPOSSIBLE). Ultimately, they did a fabulous job turning a dress that was too small on me into a dress that actually fit me a lot better. They added fabric pretty seamlessly, and it turned out great. I didn't love how the one guy kind of slapped it over the hanger and didn't hang it up very nicely in the bag we provided, but all in all, I gave them a decently difficult task and they delivered pretty seamlessly, with a good turn around. The price was a little steeper than I was expecting, but..they work hard. So I gotta go with 4 stars. Thanks for helping make my bridesmaid dress one of a kind! read more

Edgar's Tailor shop is one of the best (if not the best) tailor shop in the alleys! If you follow the directions on yelp, you'll end up at a blue stairway; take the stairs, make a left and you'll see the shop next to the massage spot. They're wearing masks; however, it gets packed so there's really no social distancing. They do have hand sanitizer. Also, cash only! They have pretty affordable prices to get your suits, dresses, jackets, dress shirts, jeans and other garments tailored. I took three suits to get the blazer tailored by the arms (shortened by the wrist), the width, and tailor/taper the slacks (they were too long and baggy by the calves and a bit lose on the waist-y'all know how a new suit fits). I ended up paying $160 for all three suits. That's pretty cheap considering that some places charge you $25 just to taper slacks. If you need something tailored on the same day (let's say for a Saturday night or Monday for work) make sure you go on Saturday/Sunday morning no later than 11AM. They will have your stuff ready in about two hours. If not, ask the guy doing the tailoring; he's a short fly Hispanic man (always dressed like a G) taking the measurements. He's got a lot of credit (street taper credit), just look up at the wall of all the pictures of artists and athletes whose clothes he's tapered. read more

You get what you pay for! They do okay work for what you need. But they have TONS of customers and there's only 3 people working in the back...so the stitches are rushed. Think about how many people come here everyday to get their dresses, suits, etc. tailored. Personally it was my first time coming here but the work they did was not very good. The measurements are rushed, they make a couple of folds and call it a day. If you're going to get a suit tailored and it's not very expensive you can take a chance here. If it's kind of expensive, go to a professional tailor. They'll take care of you better than this place will. read more

It's very fast service as I brought about 5 shirts I needed to be hemmed as well as a skirt for work and it took about 2 hours max. It's cash only, FYI. I had to wait another half hour.... The 1 star isn't completely for the extra time I had to wait, nor is it for the mediocre work; it's for the tailor who told me it would take 1 hour and when it took almost 3 hrs, did not explain or offer any apology or comp for my trouble. Terrible, terrible customer service. We took a suit here to be altered upon referrals. After trying on the suit and the guy pinning everything in place, he told us it would be 1.5 hours. We said okay and decided to walk around Santee Alley and find something to eat to kill time. Came back an hour later, saw the jacket hanging on the wall, so my fiance asked if that was completed. The guy responded (lied) that it was, but the pants were not. So we waited another half an hour and still nothing. By now, it had already been 1.5 hours like they had told us, but still nothing was done. During the wait, we saw a few other people bring in their garments to be altered and they all got their garments before us. I thought, okay maybe it takes longer for the suit. So we waited for another half an hour, still nothing. So my fiance checked with them again and they handed him the "completed" pants to try on. He tried on his pants and we both waited another half an hour for his jacket, which was supposedly had been completed an hour ago. By now, we had waited for 2.5 hours. The jacket did not even come out right. The inside lining showed through the bottom. Bad workmanship, bad customer service. Never ever coming back! I'd rather pay $20 more for better customer service and work. read more
