Love edge rooftop! It's a great space, great view, great drinks AND free valet parking! The view is gorgeous and it's a very relaxed vibe. Haven't tried the food but all the drinks we tried were all great and not too expensive. If you pull into valet and tell them you're going to edge rooftop for an hour or so they just hold your car in the front and they don't charge you anything (except tipping the valet driver). Great outdoor rooftop bar, make sure you get your reservations in to be able to have seating on the larger side of the bar facing Congress. They do have walk in open bar seating on a smaller side by the pool though. We got both of their frozen drinks, strawberry marg & pina colada, both were great depending if you're feeling something more refreshing or sweet & creamy. One of my favorite sports in town. The view is incredible and the food so yummy. Every time I go there - have been numerous times - it is always a great experience with staff. The only downside is: it is outdoors and it can get quite hot during the Texas summer. Also the parking is incredible hard or expensive (if you valet). Ambulance is great! Rooftop bar with an adjacent pool at the JW Marriot in downtown. The draw here generally is the fact it's a rooftop bar and has some of the best views of the lower downtown area, plus a pool. For that, it gets 4 stars in my book. A few of the downsides based on my experience here: 1) service, 2) crowds, and 3) drink quality. On the service front, it took quite a bit of time to get an attendant to come over to take our orders, and quite a bit of time yet to actually receive our drinks. In terms of crowds, I came during a particularly hot day, so the pool area was very popular; it was quite crowded. There were a few children excessively splashing around in our immediate area, which detracted a bit from the experience. I actually live downtown myself and my apartment has a similar rooftop pool, and arguably that is a better experience since there are no crowds or loud patrons (or fewer at least). Finally, the quality of the drinks weren't horrible and were good when compared to the drinks you'd get at your average pool bar; that said, they weren't anything special either. All-in-all, while I may have had a few gripes, I found this bar to still be generally pretty enjoyable. read more

Good drinks but just above average food. Very limited menu options. Very spacious for big groups. Tried Edge and P6 back to back weeks and will pick P6 over this if reservations aren't a concern. I went on a day trip to Austin from San Antonio and this was my final stop. I wanted to enjoy an adult beverage and take in some city views. In San Antonio, Rooftop bars are scarce, sadly. As you can see from the photos posted, the view is phenomenal and there are plenty of photo/video opportunities. So why the 4 stars instead of 5? The lack of beer selection. The person I was with only drinks beer and they had no drafts, nothing in a bottle, and this was the shocker, NO SHINER! Come on guys, this is Texas! The service started to lack as the night went on, but I think that was because it got busier. At one point our server forgot my drink. No harm though. I still recommend this place. What a pleasant surprise! Was trying to book P6 but didn't go through last minute. Ended up in this spot. You have to go though the pool area which made me feel like the Swimmer by John Cheever. But what's opening up for you is amazing: I have a thing for rooftop bars. It's the ones that are amongst the building which puts perspective compare to the ones that are all the way on top. This was our second year coming to the edge rooftop around the holiday season. This year we got reservations to be inside the bar/lounge area so we could enjoy the snow and lights. The hostess and waitstaff were very friendly and accommodating when we requested to move to a more secluded spot. The view is a huge perk from any angle. The snow blows every hour on the hour for about 2-4 mins, personally I'd want more time of it "snowing" but only because I love it so much. We tried a couple of the festive inspired holiday drinks and those were great. We also tried the sweet corn salsa which was good but would have been better if it was warmed, the brisket sliders were ok, too heavy on the sauce but again personal preference. Flavor was good. They also have really cute holiday decorated cabanas but I'm not sure how to reserve or utilize those. After we finished our time at the bar/lounge area and sat through 2 snow falls we opted to finish relaxing by one of the pool loungers and enjoying the other music provided through the hotel speakers. Okay I'm not sure what's going on here. This is a decent bar with a pretty cool view in a nice hotel. During the holidays they make it snow. If you nab a couch next to a fire pit it can make for a great evening. But 100% five stars? That's a little insane. It doesn't stay open late and if it's raining it's a bust. When we got the tab the martinis were 26$ and the Old fashion was 20$ for the modifications. When we asked the server about it after the fact she was extremely dry and rude. No warning. Martini was distasteful all together and there was no one there, very boring ambiance. Dirty tables and bugs everywhere. No view from half of the tables. 0 out of 5. Do not recommend. read more

Wonderful experience at the rooftop bar here. We did not have a reservation but we're able to walk up and be seated almost right away. Everyone was amazing, we especially appreciated our waitress Sophia who went out of her way to give us recommendations for the area even though we only got one drink each from her. We tried not to linger as to not cost her money but she never made us feel like we weren't able to stay and enjoy the sights. I rarely leave reviews unless they're either really good or pretty bad. Unfortunately, I'm this instance it was a pretty bad experience. Although, upon entrance, the greeting of the front desk was exceptional on leading us how to reach the rooftop bar/pool, the service from our bartender, Chuck, was below standards and sub-par at best. During COVID, there was a sign that prompted patrons to be seated and the bartender would be with our party shorty, unfortunately that was Not the case. Our party of 4 was not acknowledged nor served until someone had to leave their seat to notify Chuck that we would like to grab some drinks. His demeanor and overall service was below standards in any service-driven industry with greeting us with lackluster. He then promoted for our I.D's and upon checking one of the I.D's of my friend's he accuses her of the I.D being fake and says her OWN birthday is wrong on the card after politely telling him it was her birthday on the I.D. He think THREW her I.D across the table to her and said "make sure your birthday is right in your I.D next time" after her telling Chuck multiple times it was. After which, she retrieved her I.D that was thrown across the table by Chuck and he rebutted and does not take accountability for what he's done and simply says, "I don't have my glasses." And walks away. Overall experience was great except for the service from Chuck. Advice to management, get better training in your employees or if they're unable to satisfy simple customer service duties, let them go. read more

This is the first rooftop bar I have been to and let me just say, it surpassed my expectations. From the stunning views of downtown Austin during golden hour to the warming atmosphere and great service from the hosts and servers, I had a fantastic experience. I came for a romantic date night and this place delivered. There was a cute fire pit lit up when night arrived, and we had our own two seat table with a dimmable light. I do wish we had the option to choose the seating though, because the table we were at was a high-top. Other than that, the food, although pricey, was delicious. Definitely recommend the chopped brisket sliders and the coconut shrimp. I ordered the watermelon fresca and the frozen pina colada as well and I did not care too much for the watermelon fresca, but the frozen pina colada was perfect. Just a heads up because I did not find any other reviews that mentioned this before we visited, but parking is $32 if you do hotel parking even if you are there for less than 2 hours. read more

Well well well... what brought us here in the snow and Christmas time vibes... being in the Lone Star State at Christmas time and being originally from Yankeyville Wisconsin where we always have white Christmases I had to go have some winter wonderland time even if it was fake... We started our night with some amazing Italian food on 2nd st and then hiked over to the JW Marriott and took the elevator up to the top and made our way passed the lively Texas rooftop pool to a winter festival... it was snowing.... slippery soap.. yes, soap.... we got a couple glasses of vino with ended up being soapy wines.... and ordered some super duper expensive s'mores.... we watched the slippery soap fall on my vintage leather booties and we were soaked... bubbly soaked..... I went with it and enjoyed the fun and pretended like it was the real deal... hubby on the other hand who spent many years in Colorado wasn't having it.. at all, spent his time taking cover away from the Dawn dispensary... he is still cleaning his shoes.. it literally was a safety hazard... he didn't like any of the cheap Cali wines either. The selection wasn't cool at all for a Marriott.. it was more like a burger joint wine menu. We later talked to a waiter downstairs about the lack of list and he said that he agreed and they tend to gage their wine menu on the rooftop to a "younger crowd" basically folks that don't know their wines and will drink anything.... we probably won't be back to the roof top. It does have a lovely view of the Frost bank and Downtown Austin and a great pool... if we can order wines from the restaurant and bring up then we will reconsider. The bartenders weren't super friendly either... kinda ruins everything.... if I'm paying $12-$14 for a glass of cheap wine. Be nice. Smile.... play your role.... read more
