This was our second time here, and I am thinking they've already raised their prices. One of the things I liked about this place the first time I went was the prices seemed reasonable. Not today. A hamburger cost $18 and the other entrees were in that range. They were also serving salmon as their fresh catch of the day. Um... I don't think so. We had a different server this time, and he was also fantastic! Overall, I would still choose this place over the other places in Southport, but I don't want to lead anyone wrong about the prices. read more

Bright my wife and daughter and son in law to Southport for shopping, sightseeing and lunch. We came to this restraunt and had a great view and service from Julie was great. A few mixup in the kitchen on chicken wings sauces, and then the ordering of the ULTIMATE GRILLED CHEESE ENTREE!!!!! I order it with the bacon and jam and picked cabbage , on the side. EASY RIGHT???? Well it came out after everyone else's food, and it was two peices of toast and everything else including the cheese uncooked and just laying there on the plate????? So I waved the waitress down and asked her to actually make me a grilled cheese, she did very embarrassed by what had happened, then they brought it back ten minutes later, just a plain grilled cheese, no fries, no sides????? Came for a friend's birthday. Party of seven. Birthday girl had always had good experience in the past. It was a Monday lunch. One friend's hamburger meat smelled and tasted spoiled. She was putting it in dipping sauce, so she didn't notice until partway through. Another guest tried it to be sure, and thought the same thing; she spit it out. Friend's appetite was spoiled so she didn't order again. Things can happen in even the best places. How it's handled is the key. Manager was also waiting tables, which is nice. However she was clearly stressed and short/curt with three of us during the meal when we asked for things. In the restaurant business, even if you're stressed and don't feel good, you have to be able to make your customers feel good. The hamburger that was turned back was still on the bill. Figuring it was an oversight, and giving the benefit of the doubt, we asked for it to be taken off. Our very nice waiter said he needed to ask the manager. She only agreed to take 50% off. To me, that is kind of unheard of. Even if the burger was perfectly fine, was half the price of a burger worth losing good customers? My salad with salmon was very good. Tuna sandwich ordered by birthday girl was undercooked, but that was corrected. Everyone else liked their food. Anyone can have a bad day. But the manager's attitude spoiled the party for us. Just what us girls needed! Wow!! This is a beautiful restaurant with a amazing view! From the time you arrive you feel like you are in a special place. Decor is fabulous with super friendly staff. Our wait staff (Marisa and Micheal) were knowledgeable, enthusiastic, accommodating and so personable. They did not rush our dinner...allowed us to take everything in. We started with drinks, highly recommend the very berry cosmo then Brussel sprouts for appetizer very tasty steak frites, meat was incredibly tender. The fresh catch of the day was Mahi Mahi, it was beautifully seared to perfection served with the most tasty cucumber salad and wild rice. Generous portions with tremendous flavor. Yummy spot right on the water in Southport! We had a great table outside in the covered side patio giving us a perfect breeze and view of the sun on its way down. Everyone enjoyed their dinner! I had the Roasted Salmon with toasted farro & sweet peas, whipped cauliflower, lemon-honey emulsion. Now the salmon was delish, but the bed that it came on was out of this world! The farro and peas had a great texture and the whipped cauli was creamy and delicious. They ran out of the soup of the day (a crab, corn chowder), so I hope to get it next time. We ordered the creme brûlée for dessert, but the top wasn't as hard as it should be. Still good, but didn't have that satisfying spoon crack to dig into it. Would opt for another sweet next time or maybe grab some ice cream across the street. Our waiter was very kind and accommodating making sure to note my moms shrimp allergy to the chef. She was new to Southport, but knew the menu very well! All we ordered were beers and wine, but the bar was backed up so our drinks took a while. I think a lot of folks were ordering from the fun cocktail menu. Might be good to have another bartender who focuses on pours and another who focuses on crafting cocktails. read more

Some of the best food my boyfriend and I have had in a while. We sat at the bar and the bartender today (Evan?) was fantastic. Very personable and hospitable. Food was the star of the show, as every dish brought out was outstanding. Caesar salad, bread and butter board, Nashville chicken sandwich and pork tacos. All fantastic. I loved this restaurant and lunch experience today. I wanted to eat on the water but have never been too pleased of the choices. I saw that Edgewater was open and thought I would try it. Parking is down the road in the same place as Fishy Fishy. There was a hostess outside and she walked me to the lovely outside heated patio. The view is spectacular. My server was great as she answered all the questions I had. I ended up choosing the crab cake sandwich with a small garden salad. The Crabcake was definitely one of the best that I have had in awhile. It was a perfect sandwich. The salad was worth making a trip here just for that. Their house dressing was delicious and so was the red wine dressing. I wish I lived closer to come back again sooner. read more

Don't love it after several visits. Service is not great, but beyond the food is not. I'm not a hide seafood person and my husband does and usually likes it. I have had filet, special ribeye, and burger. Not were even average. Last time they ran out of the only white fish they offered so we both got the special and it was TERRIBLE. Tough and raw. Waitress never even recognized neither ate our dish. Sides were all raw and underdone. Time before at 5:30pm they sell me on the short rib and tell me it's sold out. Only thing I would reorder are the Brussels and bread board. Few people were happy and few were not. read more

Even on a crowded New Years Eve Edgewater delivered a fantastic meal! We've been here many times and since the menu changes seasonally and there are always specials it's always a good bet. The NY Eve special looked amazing but I had never tried their shrimp and grits and am so glad I did. Rich and creamy with the perfect amount of spice. Easily the best version I've ever had. DH had the Basin Burger with crispy potatoes and it was luscious. We split the flourless chocolate torte for dessert and it was rich, moist, and decadent. The setting is wonderful. The service was friendly, but missed some things. The food was not good. Had the miso chicken - the sauce was wonderful, but the chicken was so overcooked that it was not edible. They explained that making another chicken would take a lot of time, so I accepted a cheeseburger to keep our group on time. It was OK.
