We stayed at Edgewater for a family reunion. Unfortunately, we had heavy rain for 3 of our 4 days there. But we tried to make the most of the vacation, and Edgewater was a great host for us. ROOMS: We booked a 2 bedroom Naples View room. The room was huge and had everything we needed- full kitchen (though no stovetop), 2 full bathrooms (one with tub, and one with huge shower), 2 king beds, and 3 televisions with DirecTV. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen had a K-Cup brewer with free K-cups and Fiji water, which was a nice touch. GROUNDS: This is not a huge resort. It is more of a boutique hotel. It feels cozy, which makes it easy to get around. The offer paid valet parking, but self-parking is very easy as the lot is on the side of the hotel. The lobby is small and I wish there was more seating to hang out in. The hotel also offers free milk and cookies every afternoon. There was free wi-fi but the connection was very weak in our room. POOL/BEACH: There are 2 pools, one of which is slightly deeper. The beach here is very nice, and the ocean is mostly rock-free and has some fun waves to play in. From the beach there is a beautiful sunset view, which we missed out on most nights due to the weather. AREA: This is mostly a residential neighborhood, so there isn't really anything within walking distance. However if you have a car, the location is ideal as there are tons of restaurants and shopping within a 3 mile radius. I also liked the free hotel shuttle to 5th Avenue. Despite the lousy weather, we were happy with our vacation at Edgewater. read more

We just returned from a weeks vacation at the Edgewater Beach Hotel. The location is awesome, the beach is beautiful and the two pools are great. I was worried that it wouldn't be family oriented as the website looked like it could be more aimed at couples but I was happy to see many families there and they are very laid back with kids. We booked a gulf view, two-bedroom suite which was a great size for three adults and a child. Our balcony overlooked the gulf and we even got to see dolphins playing in the ocean which was a huge bonus! On the down side, I pre-paid for our room to get a better rate, however it was still expensive but we haven't been on vacation for a long time so decided to splurge on this one! At a very expensive nightly rate I would expect that the use of basic sun loungers and umbrellas would be available for free. Also the additional resort fee of $25 / night (for cleaning and wifi) seems unreasonable as these should be standard items when staying in any hotel. Nothing is included, every activity or amenity is extra. Also, a minor note, we were traveling with my mother in law who only speaks Spanish. I was surprised to see that their cable television didn't have any Latin American / Spanish channels available, only English. Most of the guests were from overseas so I'm surprised they haven't got a wider choice of channels. On the plus side, the staff were extremely friendly and very hard working. If cost isn't an issue then I would recommend this hotel for the view, beach access and location. If you have a strict budget in mind then it might be better to shop around to find something that provides basic amenities for free. I've seen others in the area that were already booked but include bicycle rental, paddle boards and sun loungers at no additional cost. Next time I'll book earlier into one of those. read more

Solid four to five stars on yelp. 2.5 miles from 5th street shops, but PH two bedroom suite was just what the doctor ordered. Whether it be cocktails on the beach, the guys at the beach providing towels and umbrella ($10 but no fighting for a spot) or eating on the restaurant patio this is a great place to stay for a tourist or a local starvation. I only review positive experiences or really negative and this one is a rightfully positive experience. read more

We had dinner with a large group and across the group we felt the service was courteous but sub standard. Staff was not familiar with wines or available liquor choices. The food was cold and far below or expectations or the pricing. My wife and I had 3 drinks and three appetizers and the bill exceeded $ 82 . No problem if it was served hot and if it was tasty. The mussels were over cooked yet cold. The crab cake was burned yet cold! Both kitchen and server issues. Additionally minimal sause for the one $17 crab cake. The best part if.our meal was the bread and olive oil. Two meals were refused by our guests and we were embarrassed to have chosen this restaurant for a post golf dinner. We are not high end foodies but enjoy good food in Naples and feel obliged to warn others. Opal or not it is not a good dining choice and others are realizing this as this is high season and multiple tables were left empty. read more

Exceptional Service & Property!!! This was our fifth time staying at this property.....for a reason!!! We have never been disappointed here and this visit was no exception. I had a small, self-imposed issue regarding our reservation and from the very first call I made to the front desk while driving over was handled with the upmost professionalism and courtesy. When we finally arrived, we were greeted by the same cheerful & helpful front desk personal that I had spoken with on the phone named Rihanna. Between her and Dominique my issue (again, all my fault) was already resolved way above my expectations. They both made our visit a memory we will cherish for years to come. The property itself is by far the best in Naples if you desire a true ocean-front property that is beyond clean with amazing amenities and hospitality. You truly get the feeling that the staff genuinely appreciates the guests choosing the Edgewater to stay at. One last shout out to the housekeeping staff. Upon departing, I had left my wallet in the safe. They made certain to contact me and arrange its return with ALL the contacts still in it. Spectacular views, Just a little over priced for a cockroach infested room. We had them spray for the bugs but the next day we switched rooms because the bugs never went away. They comp'd one nights stay, beach bed for a day and a free lunch at their ridiculously overpriced restaurant that features less than mediocre food but wait.... We get the check after the meal and the front manager said it was not comp'd and that was not part of the agreement although we were issued a voucher for 4 free lunches. Oh and the beds are hard as a rock. Some of the light fixtures were missing bulbs. A night stand drawer pull came off with little to no effort. The air conditioning was grossly inefficient and some of the furniture and decorations are worn or have damage. read more

We stay here every year and love the location, service and staff. Everyone is friendly and it's like coming home. They take very good care of repeat guests. We clelbrated my husband's birthday and arrived to find wine, a lovely cheese and charcuterie tray and chocolate cake in our room's refrigerator. The rooms are nicely appointed and have amazing views of the gulf. Staffing is friendly and helpful. We usually stay in a 2 bedroom suite but have also arayed in the single room suite. I had a horrible experience at this so called luxury hotel. Stayed 5 nights and had to beg to get the room cleaned by 5pm and 2 of the nights of the 5 , simply NEVERRRR got housekeeping services!! Dirty place, no 1 ever came to pick yup room service trays in the halls, when the maids came in they wore NO GLOVES and NO MASKs in a PANDEMIC! It did not make me feel that hotel was clean w/ silverware and no dishwasher in the room, when we had to beg just to get fresh towels daily !! Dear Edgewater Beach Hotel, It's over between us. Wait, before you say anything, let me explain. For the past 20 years (and more) my family and I have carried on a beautiful, nostalgic-filled relationship with you. But lately I notice you have grown cold. You stopped caring about us as much as you used to. I know you have had your eye on all the European tourists that have been coming there more and more. You being a hotel and all, I understand this was an open relationship from the start. But for you to raise your prices to the point that only the Germans can afford them? Well, that's not very nice. To be fair, I understand why you did it, after the name change and all. Very fancy, 'A Waldorf Astoria Hotel'. I shouldn't mind paying an extra hundred dollars a night for the same hotel room I have been coming to for so many years right? Wrong. Don't think I didn't notice you stopped giving us breakfast. (Even the Holiday Inn gives you a bagel & coffee in the morning!) You also took away the complimentary bikes, half of the parking spots under the building and gym with the ocean view. Most of the books in the library are in German now. What happened to the English ones? You have also stopped taking care of yourself. You have not updated your look in a few years. (Those plastic couches in the living room don't do it for me anymore). In the room, furniture, bedding and carpet are all the same. AC on full blast and we were sweating all night. Fridge did not work properly either and very weak signal for the WIFI. Also, no renovations to the public areas since the name change. The pool and beach should be the saving grace here right? Nope, wrong again. The area around the pool is seriously lacking. Not enough chairs for all the guests and an unexplainable fly problem. And it was a huge problem. Flies everywhere around the pool made me feel like a starving child in Africa. I know you are too busy for me now but 4pm check-in? Industry standard is 3pm. Late check-out? Denied!!! Get your bags and get out before 11am. Never mind that we had to wait for our room until 3:30pm, even after getting here early to pre-register. Edgewater Hotel, it's not me it's YOU. We've been here for nearly a week. And I've waited until our last night to compose this review. Much of what I have (and maybe you've reviewed on Yelp) is fairly consistent about this place. I'll give you my spin, having been extremely familiar with the Waldorf-Astoria/Hilton/Blackstone brand - having logged in nearly nine months of hotel travel in this last year alone (long story...but you can trust me when I tell you that we're experienced hotel travelers). In this review, I'll attend to the Physical Plant, People and Proximity of this particular property. First the building itself. We're talking a 30 year old hotel that is in desperate need of a refresh. The place simply is NOT up to W/A standards. Everything from layout of their finest rooms (we had a upgraded suite right on the beach), to their furnishings, air conditioning systems, poor performance on WiFi, baths, plumbing, carpets, artwork, outdoor pool areas, etc. - they're all inconsistent with the fit and finish of the over-arching brand. Now, if this were a Hilton, I'd not be taking them task on this matter. But as an avid customer of Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, et. al., this property clearly has bolted on the W/A brand to a venue that simply doesn't line up with the rest of their namesakes. Think Boca Beach Club, Boca Raton Resort - at least here in Florida - and you'll understand exactly what this property is NOT. As it relates to their personnel - I'd have to give them 4 stars. Very friendly at check-in from the front desk to bell staff and beach crew: all were pleasant. We arrived early and our room was ready. We went out for a bite to eat, came back to wind the day down at the beach, and after tipping the crew for setting us up with our complimentary lounges, towels and umbrella, we were told - you have 15 minutes and then we have to take these away. (Curious that they took the money first and then said..."psyche"....no soup for you!). Ughhhh.....that was the only complaint we had. Room turn-down service is nice, but slightly inconsistent. One day, there was no first service cleaning at all. When we inquired, we were promised immediate servicing - which occurred, but was poorly executed. No new towels, garbage left in the kitchen and bathroom, etc. We called down, reported this to the front desk - and since then - every day we've had exemplary service. It's a shame one needs to complain in order to acquire the typical W/A service. Check out was simply perfect. Efficient, quick and 1,000% accurate. While we had no ice machines available to us in our suite (refrigerator and freezer were broken), the front desk suggested that we ask for ice from the restaurant. In this way, we were able to keep some of our food and medical supplies cool on the drive from the hotel. Once again - the personnel was spot on perfect and kind. As for Proximity - I'd have to say that this property is a 10 star. It's simply the best location close to Old and New Naples and easily navigable to all points through Naples. So there you have it. Definitely not a 5 star property in Naples (go to the Ritz for that). If you're not picky/finicky/experienced like me - then you'll love this place. If you are, you'd be well advised to lower your expectations and enjoy what you get. read more

From day one the management at the hotel was non existent . Waitresses yelling at clients drunks at the bar friends of the bar tenders . Housekeeping just doesn't show up and no ones is accountable. When you call the front desk they hang up on you . I have stayed at opal sands and loved it. Do not stay here horrible service embarrassing lack of management. And that's just a few of the disappointing moments. Best part of the trip the three gentlemen at the pool bar and restaurant they went out of their way to provide service and make you feel welcome. Absolutely no complaints! This place is incredible. From the minute we drove up we received nothing but 5 star service. From the valet/bellhop, to the front desk staff, beach staff, pool bar peeps - everyone was warm, welcoming and friendly. We were offered champagne upon arrival, as well as delicious fresh baked cookies and milk which are complimentary from 2-5p in the lobby. The lemon ones were out of this world. I had to remind myself I was about to strut my stuff on the beach to keep myself from indulging too much. We were very pleased with our welcome gift which arrived shortly after we made it to our room - a bottle of wine and a cheese/grape/nut platter. Such a nice detail. We had a 1 bedroom King suite overlooking the beautiful Gulf. Being Miamians we're kinda spoiled by beaches and beautiful views - the view was gorgeous, the sunsets were spectacular. The room itself was spacious, clean, modern and comfortable. It had a spacious "kitchenette" with a full fridge, large farmhouse sink, a microwave, toaster and a Keurig. The bed was fluffy and comfy. The AC was a little hot in the room in comparison to the rest of the suite but it wasn't too bad. The beach is perfect. Powdery sand (which my daughter found delicious) and a fun area for the little ones with plenty of sand toys under a shady canopy of umbrellas. Beach also has servers offering drinks (pricy, but yummy) and food from the pool bar. I didn't realize until the last day that they offer kayak and paddle board rentals. I'll definitely check into those on our next stay. The pool area was clean and comfortable, they play very good music. They also had some reptiles on display which seemed to catch the eye of older kiddos. The food at this hotel was fantastic. We had dinner at Coast and ordered room service. Everything was perfect, which speaks volumes coming from me. Although we had delicious entrees for dinner - I had the tangle wood chicken and my husband had their grouper special, our favorites were the blackened grouper sandwich and the chicken tenders we ordered from room service. Order the mango chile sauce to dip, so good! Location is excellent, everything - mall, publix, restaurants, park w nice playground - are a walk or a quick drive away. We fell madly in love with this hotel and plan to return very soon. read more

You get charged an additional $30 on top of your room rate for resort amenities but beware, nothing on the beach comes for free. Expensive but with a great location on the beach in Naples which is hard to find. However, prices were ridiculous and way out of line considering what you get. Breakfast for a family ended up to a sum which we could have gone to parasailing for. Pancakes, toast, scrambled eggs and orange juice...we are not talking caviar and champagne. The hotel has been redecorated but we still had to change room due to intense smell of cigarette smoking. No excuse, rather a demonstrative sigh from the staff as if we were picky out of the ordinary. The pool area is ok, but in fact serves more as a nice picture in commercials. The Waldorf stamp has given this hotel a raise, but there is more to it in order to meet the Waldorf name. I will not stay at this hotel again. Which I will at the Astoria in NY. read more

I wished I would of listened to the bad reviews.... I was nervous to stay here because of what I read and even called the reservation department to tell them so. We had a very bad experience with our room but I don't think it is something that happens often. The only reason I gave it two stars is because on its beach location and because the staff at the restaurant - the beach was also very nice. This property is under construction and even though they say the rooms are renovated they have issues..... We checked in with no issues except we were never offered champagne or cookies. The kids found everybody else eating cookies and went to get some. We booked a 1bdr king suite with a pool/gulf view. It had a nice size living room area but the bedroom was small. In terms of location it is great - you are right on the beach. The pool area was nice but not enough seating for everyone. People start holding chairs by 8am and by 9 they were all gone or at least had people's stuff on it. All three days we were there we never got a seat by the pool till later in the afternoon. Beach staff is nice - we rented an umbrella two days and a kayak. The staff at the coast restaurant on site was amazing - very helpful and always happy. They offer a kids menu wherever you dine either poolside, room service or the restaurant and for $7 the it was not bad. Room service was good but it took almost an hour and after 9:30 they don't take orders. Front desk service was lacking. There was a leak in our room and when we called down to report it and get someone to our room the man on the phone just sounded annoyed and blew us off. We waited 30 minutes and still no one showed up so I sent my husband to the lobby. In that time the ceiling in the bathroom collapsed with two loud bangs. The kids started crying thinking the whole ceiling was going to fall. Thankfully we had removed all of our belongings from the closet area or it all would of been ruined. We packed as fast as possible and they moved us to another room and bought us dinner. The restaurant stayed open late for us which was nice. That is all the hotel did for us - they switched us to another room which was a given seeing that our old room was now inhabitable and they bought us dinner at a restaurant we were going to anyway. When we went to the front desk rather than telling us what they were going to do to accommodate us in this traumatic experience they just kept asking "what do u want us to do" in a very pissy manner. Again customer service at the front desk sucked. I only stayed for the whole time I has booked because I did not want to disappoint the kids if not I would of just left the next morning after the incident. I didn't want the kids to only remember the roof caving in. This was the only vacation we took this summer and we were also celebrating our anniversary which again the hotel gave us nothing. I have memories of this vacation but they are not good ones.. At $275 a night I expected more and certainly better customer service than what we got. Stay at your own risk. Shabby. Not the first word I would reach for when someone asked me about a Waldorf hotel, but it's clear this hotel has made minor cosmetic upgrades and has major problems. Aside from the location - beachfront/proximity to Naples - this hotel is a huge disappointment. We stayed in an upgraded renovated room after reading all the reviews on TA about terrible older rooms in the hotel. However, even the upgraded rooms showed wear, felt cheap, and were not up to WA standards: Room furniture covered in sand; floors were dirty. Sofa and chairs had fraying/broken edges (also checked the pull-out, which was broken/inoperable). Don't be fooled by the pictures - the furniture is terrible quality. Bathroom handles on shower and faucets were loose (waterworks, but from from 10+ years ago). Hall carpet was dirty, frayed, and had raised seams/edges (also dead insects). Leaves a bad feeling coming in and out of your room every day. No 24 hour dining (was cut off nights by ~ 8 pm). Staff couldn't even scramble anything up and offered a few muffins leftover from breakfast as a replacement for their in room dining. At a Waldorf? Pool bar was under construction the entire time we were there. That means 3 days of contractors sanding and hammer-drilling (i.e. constant ear piercing noise). I mentioned this to a staff member before checking-out and rather than apologize, she became defensive, "The pool is still fully functional. The indoor restaurant was open if you wanted to walk in for food and drinks." Would have been easy to make accommodations - i.e. have a staff member taking orders at the beach and pool during construction - rather than suggest clients walk all the way from the beach into your main lobby and order items themselves. During the same day near the construction zone, we moved our chairs by the pool 5 feet into the sun because there were no open chairs. The "Pool Deck Manager" came out and demanded we put them back. No apologies about noise, dust, or lackluster service - just a snotty lecture about their pool rules. When you have so many operational defects/problems, customer service should be an area to shine. All in all, we left disappointed and unappreciated. Amenities are poor and the management seems frustrated and defensive. With so many better hotels for luxury amenities (Ritz) or location (Inn on Fifth) there's no reason anyone should stay here. read more

I have stayed at many of the "top" hotels in Naples and I think that I like this one the best. First of all, the rooms are suites and they are quite nice. They are not opulent, but they well furnished and comfortable with a "beachy" atmosphere. They also have kitchens and fridges, which is a nice bonus for anyone, but great if you have kids. The hotel and the pools are right on the sand. It is laid back and clubby feeling with excellent service. The location is convenient to everything and it is a short drive from downtown Naples. I will definitely be going back to The Edgewater Beach Hotel. read more

The only reason to stay at this hotel is because of it's convenience to the beach. Otherwise nothing special. Air conditioning in the room never worked properly even though we were assured it was. I think sweating at night when the thermostat says 65f is indicative that something is wrong. Reading light in bedroom did not work. After notifying the front desk, I was told they were out of lightbulbs and could not replace it until after the weekend. Bathroom baseboards were moldy. Toilet ran until I took lid off to fix it. Mattress was uncomfortable. After returning from the beach at 1pm, room was not serviced. Had to ask front desk twice to send someone up to clean the room. No valet parking so your on your own to find a parking space. After my experience here, I felt like I stayed at a hotel owned by Motel 6 rather than Waldorf Astoria. read more

Be ware of cancellation policy. I tried to cancel it 48 hours before arrival due to inclement weather tropical storm's and tornado warnings. The hotel would not cancel the reservation without one night penalty. I understand their policy and if I was just canceling for the heck of it I understand I should pay. The service we have received has been top of the line and especially with a private wedding going on here this weekend. I did not feel like we were neglected in anyway. Is a matter of fact we woke up to a nice surprise by the front desk, they upgraded us to the two room penthouse suite. The balcony is huge and the rooms are immaculate. We are very pleased. The only thing lacking for us is the lack of food choices on the property. However, it's just s hop, skip and a jump to the fabulous 3rd and 5th Avenue district with many choices of different cuisine. Our room was the penthouse suite with a breath taking view of the gulf. And stay continued to be one of our best! Mark shuttled us down to 5th ave for a wonderful dinner and stroll along the shops. My husband and I stayed here for our fourth wedding anniversary and we were so incredibly impressed with the customer service. The concierge arranged for us to be upgraded to a large lanai suite next to the pool with a patio and champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were delivered to our room. I love this hotel in Naples. It is AWESOME! The hotel is beautiful. This year finally I was able to find a room on the first floor right by the pool. We have been coming here for the last five years. The people are extremely nice and go out of their way to help out. The cabana boy is a hard worker. Always on top of things and getting things done. The bartenders by the bar are great too. I really really wanted to loved this hotel. The service is spectacular. The hotel is a little on the older side but you can tell they have been trying to update the interior. When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly valet attendant and the front person was very helpful. We stayed in a two bedroom suite in the main tower. The room was updated and our two families had plenty of room. The air in our room wasn't working properly the first night but maintenance came first thing in the morning and it worked perfectly when we came back from the pool. The second day we got up I noticed my allergies were acting up but I didn't think too much of it. By the third day I could barely breathe out of my nose. I turned down the bed when we were ready to go to sleep and found the bedding was disgusting. Thank the lord I only used the sheet because I was so hot from the air not working properly. This hotel isn't cheap and I expected there to be a little more attention to detail and the quality of their product to be top notch. Edgewater missed the mark for me. read more

This is one of my favorite hotels I have been going here for many years.What I like the best is the staff,from the doorman David who is always helpful and courteous.The front desk who never make you feel like your bothering them. The outside bar Craig and Mark are great guys who go out of their way to make your favorite drink.The waitress who work the beach always have a smile.The beach people who get your chairs and umbrella are very accommodating and check on you through the day to see if you need anything. The house keepers who always seem to know what you need. And lastly the convenience of the beautiful pool and beech.So that being said I have to say I arrive and with no sleep from the night before I was exhausted. I reserved a two bedroom I was on the 4th floor looking at the pool. Now thru the years these rooms have been done over but I always thought they were done half assed. The first thing I saw was how dirty the couch was big stains every where ,the arms were filthy it was beige in color. This could of easily been taken care of with upholstery cleaning.Kitchen chairs also had stains. There was a pole lamp that was the cheapest light I had ever seen the shade had all dents in it and the piece to hold the shade on was missing.All the lights were old and gave off terrible light. My bedside light was faulty with wires hanging out. My husband fixed it ! They still have the old coffee maker a one cup at a time that takes for ever to get 4 cups they only had one kind of coffee light Newman's The patio has only 2 chairs so not enough for 4 people I did request 2 more but was told they didn't have extras. The blow dryer is so old that it did not work for me and the shower leaked to the outside no matter what you did to prevent it. I really could go on and you might wonder why I didn't complain while there like I said I was exhausted and needed to sleep.I was there with family that I just wanted to enjoy as we don't get to see each other often. I did not want to take anytime away from that and did not want to look at other rooms and packup and move.The accommodations are not cheep I just think The Edgewater could do more to make the rooms more accommodating and up to date.I stayed there October 6to the 12th. read more

I stayed at the Edgewater for two nights in early May and really enjoyed the experience. It's a great place, upscale but casual. The beachfront location is perfect and close to local shopping. My third floor suite was very nice, well appointed (though the sticky plastic on the couch cushions struck me as decidedly downscale and tacky), and with a terrific view. The staff is exceedingly friendly and eager-to-please, the lobby and pool area are clean and inviting,and I was surprised by how inexpensive the breakfasts were. If you are thinking about bringing the kids, the whole place has a very family friendly vibe. I would definitely stay here again...and hope to before the year is out. The downsides? Well, as nice and charming as the hotel is, with its upscale boutique feel, it doesn't meet the luxury standards I associate with the Waldorf-Astoria brand or price. The elevator and hallway also smelled strongly of cleansers, and that was a definite turn off. The water pressure in the shower from the rainfall head was very weak and it was difficult to control the water temperature...I either seemed to get scalded or chilled. My biscuits at breakfast on both occasions were very dry & hard...don't know if they were overcooked or stale. read more
