I had wanted a custom marzipan/amaretto flavor, and Philippe came thru with some of the yummiest truffles imaginable.

I would go to corner candy store for each school to buy my favorite candies through my formative years. Candies were also part of celebrations in the Mission involving a piñata .As an adult you will see me at See's when I get a sweet tooth craving. There is a place which sells chocolate from Switzerland and the Philippines and if you are sour because it's Monday or just everyday of the week in SF you should visit a place called Giddy. On Spring stroll in my old school stomping grounds I walked on Noe street and landed on Market at Giddy. Inside it's a candy store with lots of variety of gummies and licorice along with some international chocolate from the Ecuador and the Philippines. What you will also find a lot of varieties of candies which are very sour like some in SF. You will find lots of sour fizzy chewy cherries along sour mango belts. You will also find the classic sour cherry balls and berry sour foamy and sour strawberry and lemon butterflies along with a favorite from Sweden known as Bubs which is a sour strawberry and lemons skull gummy. Giddy is a good place to get sweet or sour. Sour is how you "felt" on a Monday when the chocolate in your pocket on a hot day "melt" and the best way in the past how it was "dealt" is go grab for a sour "gummy cherry belt" On Market street there lots of places for foods I have "eaten"some want on a cheat day a place for some "cheatin" at a place with chocolate from Ecuador , Philippines and Switzerland which is a bit "sweeten" and some like it sour like the strawberry and lemon skulls called Bubs which are from "Sweden"

For those who don't know what the Dubai chocolates are, they are milk chocolates filled with shredded phyllo dough and pistachio cream. My first impression was whether or not I had walked into an art gallery or a confectionary shop. Uh...turns out both! According to their website, the owner and her partner were originally artists prior to becoming chocolatiers. This place just screams creativity and their chocolates are ethically-sourced and almost too pretty to eat. They even have a backroom gallery to showcase local artists' confectionary-inspired works. We couldn't find the Dubai chocolates, but one of the employees approached us and asked if we needed any assistance. Turns out they were in the back and they had just received a shipment! The Dubai chocolates were nutty, crunchy, flaky, and velvety all in one! Pricey, but worth trying. Also, might I just take a moment to say I absolutely adore the shop's name! It almost looks like "XO Chocolate" as in kisses and hugs, bu also reminded me of the language of the ancient Latin American civilizations and - fun fact - Xocolatl (you see the play on words?) means chocolate (literally means "bitter water") back when they would mix purely cocoa and water as a drink. If I'm not mistaken, this business is Latina-owned, so perhaps that was intention? So clever and, either way, kudos to them!

What prompted me to leave a review was the amazing service given to me by the owner or manager of the store. I inquired about soft peanut butter options for my dad and the worker gave me a run down of everything the store had to offer that fit what I was looking for. On top of that, the store has great decor and a little bench you can watch a movie on that my toddler enjoyed. I ended up getting him a toy, filling a bag of candy, and getting a bag of jelly belly's and was pleasant surprised to see the total was only $7! Great pricing, great service, fun ambiance. (A side note: I saw the same worker jog down a couple waiting at a light just to apologize in case they felt they were being ignored which I find to be such a pleasant interaction)

Huge selection of merchandise, and the offerings are reasonably priced too. There are toys, tin lunch boxes, gelatos, homemade confections, self serve candies (sold by the lbs), individually packaged candies, and classic soda pops too! There is also an area where you can sit and watch a movie. The Wizard of OZ was being played during my visit, and you may sit in one of the three chairs while you're there! I definitely recommend this unique candy store.
