Being single, I did not want to go to all the trouble and expense of preparing myself a BBQ meal for Memorial Day. So I drove over to E-ville and had mine at, Edley's Bar B Que. They did a great job and the portions were so large, I got two meals out of my Ribs and Brisket Combo Platter. Brisket was fork tender and the Ribs were fall off the bone tender. Both were good, but my fave was the Ribs. Edley's is an order at the counter establishment. Once you order, you're given a table marker number. When your food is ready, a runner will bring it to you. If you're a soda or tea drinker, you'll order them with your food. If you prefer an adult beverage, you order them separately at the bar. I aways sit at the bar any way, so it's easy to order a beer while waiting for my food. Edley's now has their very own, Hazy IPA made by Urban Chestnut Brewing Company. I gave it 4 out of 5 Stars on my Untappd. I liked that a local STL brewery was the one who made it for Edley's. My Combo Platter came with two sides and I chose, Baked Beans and Red Potato Salad. I have always said, if you're eating BBQ, you've got have a side of Baked Beans. Another of my crazy rules is, Potato Salad must be made with Red Potatoes. So when I saw that they advertised their potato salad with red potatoes, I knew I had to have it. The Baked Beans had chunks of brisket in it, which added extra flavor. Even though the potato salad was made with red ones, it needed more white pepper and some more seasonings to make it kick. In addition to the two sides, the platter came with a piece of Jalapeño Cornbread. I'm a jalapeño addict, so it was a winner for me. It was moist and had plenty of little pieces of jalapeños to give it the perfect kick. The young lady at the counter was very perky and made the ordering process easy and smooth. My bartender was friendly and hustled taking care of bar customers and guest who showed up at the take-out window. I arrived around 11:30 AM and soon after, the restaurant filled up inside and on the patio. I was surprised how busy the take-out window was. I guess some folks wanted an easy Memorial Day, too. read more

**Tried** going to Edley's. First, the flow of traffic was really confusing. You enter near a counter at the kitchen, there was no sign telling us to wait or seat ourselves or what, and so we waited until we caught someone's eye. They told us it's counter service only, and to head to the opposite side of the dining room (where the exit is located, not the entrance). OK, annoying, but no big deal. I had looked at the menu ahead of time, and we chose this place in great part because they had fish. I knew I wanted the catfish (I'm pescatarian), but it turned out they were out. So we left. There was nothing else I could eat besides the French fries and maybe the slaw. The atmosphere felt nice, though, while we were there. That gets a star. read more

This was our first stop on the road trip and were there on a Tue around 7:30 pm. Lots of free parking and there was no line when we entered the restaurant. We ordered the ribs and brisket platter, which was listed as $24 on the menu and added the jalapeño cheddar hot link for $5 on the menu, yet we were charged for $29.50. The cashier said she didn't know why nor rectified the error. We got our food in about 10 minutes. However, once we got back to the hotel, the food was quite disappointing. The ribs were hard, dry and flavorless. Despite asking for marbled brisket, it was extremely lean which was unfortunate. They also didn't include any pickles or onions, which you usually get with barbecue in the South. Overall, it wasn't really our cup of tea. We're glad we tried it, but we don't plan on returning, even if we were in the area again. read more

The atmosphere here is nice. There is a walk up window to order and then they will bring your meal out to you. I feel like my experience would've been a little better if we had went earlier in the day - as they were out of a lot of the items we wanted to try. I settled on the wings which were flavorful and crispy. The Mac and cheese and other sides left more to be desired they were a little less on the flavor side. The cornbread was okay. It has peppers in it which I wasn't the biggest fan of. My friend ordered us fried pickles and either they were burnt or the grease was old - a bit dark for our liking. This used to be one of our favorite take out spots but they have rapidly gone down hill. Our order is wrong every single time. It's been 4-5 orders in a row where they just simply forget part of the order or just screw up half of it. Whoever manages this place needs to be fired. My first time trying Edley's was over five years ago in Nashville, Tennessee. I was super excited when the O'Fallon, Illinois location opened up! I've been to the O'Fallon location a couple times now, but I was in the Edwardsville area and decided to give this location a try. Once again, I'm very impressed. Edley's has never let me down! The interior was super clean and inviting. We placed our order at the counter, picked a table, and enjoyed our food in a very timely manner. They have an expansive menu, especially with their wide variety of sides. I absolutely love the bean salad and the mac and cheese for sides. My favorite entree is the turkey platter. When the employee brought my food out, he explained to me that he highly prioritizes the presentation of the food, and he apologized that my turkey wasn't looking exactly how he wanted it to because it kept falling apart as he arranged it. To be completely honest, I totally wouldn't have noticed any differences, but the fact that he was so personable and took the time to check in really meant a lot! Finally got to check this place out as it is still considered new in my town. Menu kind of seemed limited, and the bartender (who waited on me) said they were out of a lot of things. Even most sodas. But I know better to hold anything like that against a new independent business. I got the hot chicken platter with two sides. Went with the mac and cheese (which was I believe a dollar or two extra) and grits casserole. Portions seemed small, but I was still full when I walked out. Sandwich was pretty good. Would love to try some of their other meats. Be aware that they do not serve french fries of any kind...not even sweet potatoes. They heavily advertise their alcohol selection, mostly consisting of craft brews. I was kinda shocked they did not have non-Coke or Pepsi sodas there but everything can't be perfect. The buffalo sauce that came on the side was really good. Had a good kick to it. On a to-go order I didn't expect the sauce to be on top of the me at. I have no idea why I thought that, so that was on me! It wasn't as big of deal as it could have been. The added sauces were decent. Brisket was too dry for me - could have been a result of the long drive home. It did have good flavor. Pork - really surprised by this one as it had a good smoke flavor. A friend of mine and I stopped into Edley's on Sunday 10/8/2023. While impersonal the service was quite good. The food was a mixed bag though. I'll get the bad out of the way first. While quite tender and moist the brisket had no smoke ring but still somehow tasted like soot. Poor fire management on that cook is all I can think happened. The remainder of the food was good. The ribs were tender, well seasoned but not falling apart. The half chicken was probably their best effort. Great smoke flavor, well seasoned, tender and moist. We enjoyed it a great deal. The chicken wings tossed in their white sauce were quite good as well. The pork which appeared to be chopped not pulled was moist and had a good flavor. The one sauce they had out was nothing outstanding but was a decent middle of the road tomato based sauce. I don't go to BBQ places for sides, but the sampler platter we ordered came with 4. The ones we tried were all decent or good with the standouts being the 2 cold sides we chose, the coleslaw and the bean salad. If I was in the area around meal time I'd go back to Edley's. However, I wouldn't travel out of my way to go there. read more

I really like this place. We keep coming back for more . One issue I've had is my boyfriend was eating his salad that had pulled chicken on it and there was a bone in it. Another time I was there, my order was repeated back to me and was correct, then when it was brought out to me on the patio and it was wrong and I had to go back inside and pay for what I actually ordered instead of what I was charged for....even though my order was read back to me correctly! The brisket is amazing. Their BBQ fries are definitely worth a try...you chose the meat you want and they put pico de gallo with large juicy tomato chunks on it along with nacho cheese, sour cream and BBQ sauce. Let me start by saying I really wanted this to be better. I feel bad giving Edley's Bar-B-Que 2 stars, but facts are facts. The first time I tried Edley's was in July while my wife and I were on vacation in Tennessee. We tried their restaurant in Nashville. I had no idea there was one within 10 minutes of my home. They must not advertise much. The Edwardsville location appears fairly new. Let me start with the good. This restaurant is located on a busy road with many options for dining. The building is new, so it looks great inside and out. The staff was very friendly and willing to take care of their customers. That pretty much where it ends. I ordered the brisket sandwich, the lady that took my order upsold me to the "platter" which basically adds another side. I picked beaked beans and Mac and cheese. There was an additional $1 charge for the Mac and cheese. There was no trouble finding a seat. Friday at noon on a beautiful a November day and this place is empty. My food arrived within a few minutes of sitting down. It looked good. The side are served in large shot cups and are quite small. The brisket sandwich was on a dry hard bun with BBQ sauce and pickles. The brisket was cold, missing any flavor and quite dry. The Mac and cheese that I paid extra for was lacking flavor and cold. The baked beans were good. They were hot and had good flavor. I spent $23 after tip and am glad I came alone for lunch rather than bring my wife and spend $50 for a sup-par meal. Some of my issues with the food were the same things I noticed at the Nashville location. They have a solid idea, but execution is killing them. People in this area have no problem spending money. There are Tesla's,Mercedes and even a Ferrari in the parking lot, but I doubt they'll keep coming back when there are so many options with better food. I hope they figure out their problems. We need more BBQ restaurants around here. read more

Anywho, I called and I asked for a well done half chicken platter, the lady said the food is precooked and put in a smoker for the rest of the day, and when I tell you it tastes like it was precooked and put in a smoker for the rest of the day! So tough and rubbery you couldn't even pull it apart. It was all around bad. 0 stars. I couldn't eat it. We had lunch there today and loved the atmosphere, decor and bluesy background music. However, the food was well below the level of the vibe. I had the pulled pork platter with maccheese and baked beans. The pork was finely chopped and portion was adequate. The flavor profile was way too SMOKEY. I smoke meat myself and love a mild smoke flavor, but this smoke overpowered any meat flavor. It even mutated their very good sweet sauce flavor. My sides were good especially the baked beans after I added a little bbq sauce. My partner had a brisket sandwich with fries and maccheese. The brisket was not as oversmoked as the pork and had a beautiful bark. The texture was good, but overall very middle of the pack brisket. read more

The place isn't well run. 4 of us ordered turkey and somehow after we got to our table and waited 20 min they showed up to say they ran out so only 2 of us got to eat it. They made 2 from our party substitute for something else. They also wrote on the menu that a platter comes with pickles and slaw but apparently the slaw is not included. A bit misleading. The turkey was very good. Moiste and flavorful and I liked the mix of BBQ sauces they drizzled on it. The cornbread is huge and has chunks of super spicey peppers in it. I thought it was pretty good. I didn't like the green beans or baked beans. Green beans were super bland and missing salt. Baked beans were all vinegarey. Tried a bite from a pulled chicken platter and it was pretty good too. My wife really liked the banana pudding. Fluffy and rich. The Mac and cheese was a bit sticky tasting. Not sure how else to describe it. Sort of rich tasting too. My wife said it was ok. We had a party of 13 people and not one person was happy with their food! Corn bread was like a hockey puck! Everything was so bad. I don't even know how they can fix it!
