We stopped by Fire-N-Smoke Wood Fired Kitchen after hearing good things and decided to give it a try while passing through. As soon as we walked in, the smell was incredible and definitely made us excited to eat. The setup was easy--you order first, find a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Service was quick, and everyone was friendly and helpful. We ordered the platters, which came with one meat and two sides. The food had good flavor, and the cucumber salad was especially fresh and really excellent. The only downside was that the meat portions felt pretty small for the price, which was a little disappointing. Overall, it was a good stop to try once, but probably not a place we'd go out of our way to return to.

First time trying Fire N Smoke and I'm shocked i haven't been and I live close. The vibe is really cool! There is tons of seating. You order at the register and get a number then sit down and they bring out your food. There is something for everyone on the menu. It primary bbq but they do have burgers and salads. I got the pulled pork nachos and they were good! I loved all the toppings and the cheese was amazing. I need to come back and try some of the beers and a burger.

What a surprise these guys were. I opted for the nachos with pork - and can honestly say that I've never had more tender pork. Being as there were several flavors layered, it's difficult to say how the pork was flavored on it's own, but, mixed in, it was a very solid dish. I was extremely happy with my choice. The hubs opted for the sandwich, which had multiple meats and he had no real complaints, aside from a piece of gristle that was missed. The beans are very meaty & delish. Drinks are self-serve, with cups presented when the order is placed at the counter. Food is delivered to the table by order number. Serving sizes are ample. Everyone had leftovers, tho I didn't take mine home, as something about reheated nachos sounded less than appealing. I didn't see the bill, as the in-laws scooped it up - so, can't speak on the value. I can say that each person said their respective dish was good.

Wanted to like this place, but it's got some issues. The food generally was pretty good. I had a brisket plate with potato salad and beans all of which were very good. Wife had fish tacos, which were OK. And The first issue is that you have to order in line which is not a big deal unless you want a refill on a beer or to go back and get dessert. Had to wait in an 8 to 10 person line each time, The second issue was the food runner was absolutely hating working there. I think she dropped our food from about 5 inches off the table, and I watched her do this with another couple as well. She just seemed angry and very unhappy. The last thing was cleanliness. We sat outside For a little over an hour and they didn't bus a single table, clean anything or really check on any customers. The tables were not clean at all. Only two of the tables had paper towels on them so if you didn't grab some on the way out, you had to go back into the restaurant. one of the doors was locked so you either had to go back in through the front entrance or back through the door the food runner used. The patio was super dirty. You can see the picture of the trashcan that doesn't look like it's been cleaned in forever. There was a lot of trash around the edge of the patio in the flower bed. Just doesn't look like they take care of the place. Seems very popular, but with some of the issues it makes you wonder.

Food: got the Texas burger, adobo pork tacos, Mac and cheese, twisted fries Burger was 3.5/5 on taste and 4.5/5 on weight/fullness. Overall easy 4/5 for the burger. - The patties were had a nice mild char, just a bit dry but it was fine. Patties seemed more like 1/3 lb than 1/4 lb. - Brisket was decent. Not dry. Decent bark. Fairly soft. Had a light smoke flavor. I'd say it's about 3/5 or average if you are into brisket and maybe a 4/5 if you haven't had much brisket. The burger had a pretty good slab of brisket, probably comparable to a 1/4 patty. The brisket fat/oil helps moisturize the patties. - overall the amount of meat in the burger was substantial and will likely get you full and happy. For the price I think the burger and fries are good value. Mac and cheese was spectacular. For the price and value I'd give it an easy 5/5. Texture is great. The toasted cheese crust was great. There are five cheeses (at least that's what it says), and the taste of the cheese is quite complex but not overwhelming. The cheese had a nice grainy texture but was also nice and gooey. I'm normally not a mac and cheese person either so yeah it was really good. Fries are fine. Nothing special. Pretty much what you'd expect. So 3/5? If you're choosing between the fries or Mac and cheese, def get the Mac and cheese. Okay on to the adobo pork tacos.... I'm really sorry but it was just a miss and a mess (not the good kind of mess). 1/5. First of all, the pulled pork wasn't bad tbh, there's actually a really nice texture and char. But with the bbq sauce, cole slaw, cilantro cream, and idk what else, it's just a terrible mix. On top (or bottom) of that, there's an entire cesspool of oil. So imagine pulled pork, oil drippings, cole slaw, bbq sauce, and some mystery cream all wrapped up in a tortilla.

    Salad?!

Our first stop as we rolled into St Louis. Great selection of bbq options ... some expected and some unexpected. Counter service with tons of seating .. bring your friends and enjoy!

A quick online search brought us to Speakeasy Parlor in Maryville. Forest impressions: We loved the non-descript feather sign, and the "no snitches" on the door was kinda funny. Though, that plus the neon "cocktails" sign on the window sends a bit of a mixed message for a place that's supposed to be a throwback to a secretive prohibition-era lounge. The 2 TVs inside detracted from it a little, too, and fast was more unfortunate. Still...My second impression: What a cute little place! The bar and the furniture are lovely and the cushions were so polish and soft. There were many great, comfortable places for groups of two to four to chat, and there's no loud music, meaning you can actually HEAR your friends when you chat with them. (At least, if the place isn't full; the floor was pretty crowded with tables, so I suspect it could still get loud. Third impressions were all about the drinks. My partner had a Spicy Cantaloupe Daiquiri. His opinion: The cantaloupe sugar rim was maybe the best part of the drink, though the tequila-based daiquiri was well-balanced, very tasty, and just the right amount of spicy. I had an Earl of Gray cocktail with a lavender sugar half-rim. It smelled SOOO good, and it tasted even better. To be honest, it may have been one of the best cocktails I've had ever. I actually can't wait to bring a couple of friends here!

All four of us got something different (I think one was a blueberry beer of some sort... but don't quote me on that), and all the drinks were so good, that we had to pass them around for the other others to try! Ended up going down the menu and ordering another one for each of us, so we got to try eight drinks in total and all of them were epic! The bartender was super sweet, and right there, even though the establishment was pretty busy, as soon as one glass got down to 1/4, he'd come by and ask if we were ready for another, but wasn't intrusive as much as just making sure we were OK and seeing if we needed anything. He was there and gone in a flash, as I think, he thought that since we were two couples, he didn't want to interrupt any conversations, but wanted to make sure we were taken care of. We made sure to tip him well. The restaurant was clean, the bathrooms were fantastic, especially for a late evening out at an establishment that serves liquor, it felt like a high-quality establishment, but in no way did we feel out of place, nor were we made to feel out of place. If anything is the exact opposite. The bartender made it where it was very warm and welcoming in a good place to socialize for us. We will definitely be back! Next time and time to try the food too!

They did a great job and the portions were so large, I got two meals out of my Ribs and Brisket Combo Platter. Brisket was fork tender and the Ribs were fall off the bone tender. Both were good, but my fave was the Ribs. Edley's is an order at the counter establishment. Once you order, you're given a table marker number. When your food is ready, a runner will bring it to you. If you're a soda or tea drinker, you'll order them with your food. If you prefer an adult beverage, you order them separately at the bar. I aways sit at the bar any way, so it's easy to order a beer while waiting for my food. Edley's now has their very own, Hazy IPA made by Urban Chestnut Brewing Company. I gave it 4 out of 5 Stars on my Untappd. I liked that a local STL brewery was the one who made it for Edley's. My Combo Platter came with two sides and I chose, Baked Beans and Red Potato Salad. I have always said, if you're eating BBQ, you've got have a side of Baked Beans. Another of my crazy rules is, Potato Salad must be made with Red Potatoes. So when I saw that they advertised their potato salad with red potatoes, I knew I had to have it. The Baked Beans had chunks of brisket in it, which added extra flavor. Even though the potato salad was made with red ones, it needed more white pepper and some more seasonings to make it kick. In addition to the two sides, the platter came with a piece of Jalapeño Cornbread. I'm a jalapeño addict, so it was a winner for me. It was moist and had plenty of little pieces of jalapeños to give it the perfect kick. The young lady at the counter was very perky and made the ordering process easy and smooth. My bartender was friendly and hustled taking care of bar customers and guest who showed up at the take-out window. I arrived around 11:30 AM and soon after, the restaurant filled up inside and on the patio. I was surprised how busy the take-out window was. I guess some folks wanted an easy Memorial Day, too.

I had looked at the menu ahead of time, and we chose this place in great part because they had fish. I knew I wanted the catfish (I'm pescatarian), but it turned out they were out. So we left. There was nothing else I could eat besides the French fries and maybe the slaw. The atmosphere felt nice, though, while we were there. That gets a star.
