This was such a delicious meal! We totally stumbled into this place as we don't usually go to Lynwood, but this was such a pleasant surprise. In short Great sake program, and sushi very much on the fine-dining end of the spectrum. Value's there and the attention to detail is excellent. In long This space has been a couple different things, and we've heard good-to-great comments about Edo since they arrived. We pulled up to what used to be just another generic suite in a strip mall, and now has a nice quiet, secluded feel to it. They didn't go over the top in decorating; it's dark wood, and casual enough to have been and sake signs up on the walls and in the windows. But you feel like you're much farther away from the 4-lane bustle than you are. Service is warm and friendly, greeting you right away, giving you the sense that you might in the hands of a family-run place, too. They have colorfully printed sake menus with detailed descriptions of the flavors, acidity, abv, and other info for a few dozen selections, including some premium offerings. We had a Kubota, a Mun, and an Otter Festival. All different, all with plenty of character and well-restrained sugars. The menu is a nice heavy chipboard book, with apps, cooked dishes, and plenty of fish. There are specials up, too, and we caught them at the exact right time to look over the fish case and talk about what was showing really well. They have a traditional feel to the place, with lots of traditional rolls in the menu, but there's a big long page of premium rolls, too, that all tend toward a more modern style, with lots of creative touches throughout. We had tempura veg to start, along with a hamachi collar and takoyaki. Tempura was beautifully light and crisp with a great sweep dipping sauce. Takoyaki were bursting with hot steam, super tender and creamy, restrained sugars on top, just a bit of bonito. The collar was amazing--flavorful salt here and there, visible grill marks, wonderfully buttery. One of us had a bento box, which he fully demolished and enjoyed thoroughly. We ordered 3 or 4 modern rolls and a couple traditional. All excellent, all showing great balance of flavors and a couple of the modern rolls showed interesting twists in the flavor and texture. We had about half a dozen bits of sashimi--uniformly fantastic, with the scallops (drizzled with truffle oil) and toro (unbelievably soft and rich) showing exceptionally well. This was all not cheap, but so worth it. We have a couple of sushi spots around here that lean a little ways away from casual toward fine dining, but these folks are probably the best of the bunch. read more

The only drawback for us was the price to portion size for the rolls. Of all the sushi places around Edmonds and Lynnwood, Edo is by far the best sushi around, always fresh and tasty. I took Neil there last Sunday and he literally looked up at me and said "whoa, this is the best sushi I've had in a long time... the fish is so fresh and buttery and just melts in your mouth." They have some great hot foods too. I love the Katsu donburi, which in addition to coming in a wood bowl with wooden spoon, has beautiful, well balanced flavors. My only downside is the male owner is.... I donno the right word... an old stodgy Asian bro-dude. His wife clearly works twice as hard, and he often just sits around drinking beer or shoot the shit with customers (mostly other bro-dudes) even when it's busy. He gets annoyed at me for putting in modifications (I have colitis) - I totally get it, it is annoying to have to write down mods, but it's either that or I don't order it. Now I just don't order the dishes that needs modifications and I don't go as much. I totally understand the annoyance, but my issue is with how he handles it. If you're really annoyed, don't sneer at me, talk to me about it or even say, "sorry we can't do modifications" and I would understand. I always hope he doesn't come take my order, and the last two times, it was either his wife or the great waitress they have, so I am not going to detract a star for one grouchy chauvinist dude. But honestly, if you are a man, especially if you're a bro-dude, you are going to get excellent service. read more

Taste is good, value is less good. This rating doesn't include service obviously. Phoenix rising - Tempura shrimp with some imitation crab meat on the inside and seared salmon on the out. Standard roll. Mango tango - Scallop on the inside, salmon and mango on the outside. First few are great, but it got old fast. The mango with pineapple sauce is an interesting combo that speaks to your taste buds initially, but then it got stale and pushed further away from sushi. Double crunch roll - Shrimp tempura, spicy salmon, and imitation crab meat on the inside. Deep fried outside was a perfect crispy but tasted mostly the shrimp tempura and none of the salmon. I live within 10 minutes of this place. There are a lot of other sushi restaurant in the area, but I think this place stands out as the best in terms of quality. I ordered the salmon bento box $21 the salmon was the smallest thinnest salmon I've ever had since it was the main entree I was expecting a more adequate piece. This is a solid sushi/sashimi venue with great ambience. Checked it out for a special birthday date during COVID times and they seemed to be following safety measures. We ordered tempura udon, uni, salmon, and firecracker roll. Udon noodles could be chewier texture-wise but the tempura was simply on point! The uni in general is hit or miss for us but when we went it was super fresh and great. I loved the firecracker rolls because of the creativity and texture. Reminds me of nooroonji (if you are Korean you know what I am talking about) but also in a roll! Will definitely be back. We went back a second time and we were highly disappointed in the service. We ordered a lot more than the last time we visited and service was SLOW considering there were not many customers dining in while we were there. We even sat at the bar for faster service which was not the case. The salmon skin rolls were hugely disappointing for me. Top notch sushi restaurants provide long pieces of fried salmon skin. Here, they provided crumbles of leftover salmon skin and presented it as such. We asked for a coke with ice- it took 15 minutes for that to come through. Watched as the waitress decided clearing the table behind us was overall better than keeping the customer happy. Overall, when you are traveling 2 hours and spending your $$ at a Korean owned Japanese sushi restaurant the owners and restaurant will treat you with respect and generosity by including service. None of that here. Highly disappointing. Truffle scallop roll was not as good as the first time. Uni was also not as fresh. We decided we will not be returning to this sushi location. Remember- the sushi chef matters. Our first experience here was all due to the sushi chef. Thumbs down for the second round. read more

We've only gotten food from here twice but both times have been great experiences. Every roll we've tried has been really tasty and the ingredients always seem fresh and of good quality (which can sometimes be hard to pull off for take-out!). A few rolls have been a bit smaller than expected, but considering the price x quality, we were still happy with the order. How much you pay for what you get is totally fair.
