our waitress was so nice and kind and patient. she was very welcoming and let us sit and order even though it was 8:20 and they close at 9pm. they have a bunch of seating and have good specials as well! there's also sushi bar seating and the restaurant is very cutely decorated. we loved everything we ordered. and we absolutely demolished everything. we ordered the salmon skin roll, sweet dream roll and alaska roll. the salmon skin was super crispy and had a perfect char flavor. i love the rice ratio to the inside of the sushi (meaning they don't give you too much rice). i enjoyed the alaska and sweet dream roll as well. i like how they have thick japanese style noodles in their ramen. and most of their ramen is under $16!!!! the tonkotsu ramen had such amazing heavy pork umami flavor. i drank all of the soup lol. they give you about 3-4 pieces of pork and they ramen egg was perfectly seasoned and so good!!! overall, i highly recommend this place. i've been wanting to try this place and it was definitely worth the wait! i love that they weren't super busy so definitely sure this business some love! read more

I ordered the Chicken Rice Bowl - I only got "dark meat" and white rice. No vegetables and no sauce for flavoring. It tasted bad enough that I ate half and threw out the rest !! I also bought the Pork Rice Bowl - The meat tasted half decent, I actually ate the food. But again no vegetables and no sauce for flavoring. I also ordered the Won Ton Soup which was good - But not enough broth, there was plenty of won ton(s). My experience is such that I will never ever again walk through the front door ... Sorry !! I feel for the nice ladies, working staff, that were waitressing and trying to earn a living. It seems to me and many other people that since COVID-19 so many Restaurant's have cheapened the quality of their food and preparation. I was craving sushi after line dance and decided to try Hinari Cafe. I ordered the salmon skin salad and the Hanari roll. Both were good. Generous amount of crispy salmon skin on a bed of greens tossed with a soy-sesame dressing. The Hanari roll included tempura shrimp, cucumber, topped with seared salmon, eel sauce and spicy mayo. This place is reasonably priced and has an expansive menu, including sushi, ramen, Mongolian beef, chow mein and other stir fry dishes. There's something for everyone. Give this place a try for lunch! Sushi is fresh. The lunch sushi combo is good value. And these people are very hardworking. We've been here a handful of times for takeout. The most recent time we came, it was January 1st so only a few sushi restaurants were open. I was surprised to be greeted by a kid at the front. He looked like he was still in elementary school but he gave legit 5/5 star service. He takes phone orders, greets guests happily, checks the back to see if your takeout order is ready, then comes back with an ETA. Very cute. Come support this business! read more

Really enjoyed a meal here. Went last minute on a Sunday evening after a change in plans. Got 3 rolls, salmon collar, shoyu ramen, sesame balls, and tea. Every came out really tasty and was beyond our expectations. Service was attentive and helpful. The ambiance was nice for casual date or casual. I used to love coming here. Service was always nice and very friendly. We've probably ordered to go a handful of times. Yesterday we decided to order online around 5:45pm. Everything went good and the online portal said it would be done in 20min. My household decided to put 3 different single orders. Not to much to ask, because either way it was 1 order of beef and shrimp habaci, 1 order of salmon habaci, and shrimp fried rice. We figured not to rush and we got there around 6:30pm. When we get there our food was not ready. If you offer an online ordering service, then have your food on time. I am a very patient person, but to wait almost 1 hour for food is not good service. In short Solid new addition to the sushi world around here. Great service, good fish, very diverse menu. Stick with the basics and the value is excellent, but branching out is worth it too. In long This hasn't always been the most beckoning parking lot along 196th, but it's all cleaned up and open for business lately. Good chicken spot next door, where there used to be a grotty mini-mart. Just enough parking. Inside, you immediately forget you're on a main road. It's quiet, clean, well lit, well organized. You walk around past the fish case and into the dining room. Several lightweight matching tables and chairs. You immediately have menus and water. It's a neighborhoody spot rather than a specialty destination, and your first hint is that you already have both sticks and a fork on your napkin. The menu goes on for days, tightly spaced and almost every line is another item. Sashimi, maki, nigiri, teriyaki, ramen. Traditional rolls, modern ones, some creative spins from the kitchen, too. Easily 200+ items. Not much sake selection, but the prices are crazy good. Takoyaki Served very hot, plenty of filling, good flavor, nice mild dipping sauce. Good value. Tuna Tataki Great peppery flavor, served cold, nice sauce. Would love to get this again but kind of expensive ($16) for the serving size. Tiger Eyes Lots of cream cheese flavor, not much smoked salmon showing. Tasty but not super interesting. Jade roll Cucumber-wrapped rolls always sound like a nice change of pace but it's hard to get enough cuke in place to hold it together without dominating the flavors of the fish. White Scorpion roll Beautiful to look at, falls apart easily, very mild flavors. Small sashimi omakase Tasted pretty good. $20 for 8 pieces. Ironically cheaper per piece than the bigger platters. This place is neither overcharging nor offering a crazy value, at least for the dinner menu. The service was SO nice, so friendly and organized, that I'd probably come back and order more carefully. For 3 people we were out the door for $215, which is more than I'd really want to spend usually at a neighborhood spot. This was my first time here. I was in the area taking care of business at Walmart and needed some food to quell my "h"anger. I was familiar with this place due to yelp notifying me of a hot new spot a few weeks before so when it came up it was a no-brainer. Right on 196th off the freeway a couple blocks. Easy to find. Not the best parking but I had a spot right in front. Walked in. Mostly empty except for a couple who left shortly after I was sat. Very extensive menu , kinda surprising considering I thought it was just a sushi restaurant but the sign does say noodles so that was my bad for being inattentive. Regardless though very nice. Decent eating area which can get packed once the customers start rolling in to which they did towards the end of my stay. I had the whole place to myself for a while which was nice. Now the food. I first ordered the Medium Sashimi Omakase. I was first offered tea, water and asked if I wanted a soda. I first asked for tea and water. Tea was excellent and never had to ask for a refill my entire stay. I don't remember touching the water but it looked refreshing. I ordered a coke which was a can but came with a glass of ice. The sashimi was good. I mean really good. Fresh. Colorful. Great texture. No smell. Plated beautifully. The wasabi was decent. Not too spicy but not spicy like you'd normally expect. Maybe a little older or a different brand? But it got spicier on my next order. The waitresses were highly attentive. They were asking if everything was fresh. Was it good. Did I like it. I was kinda taken aback. They might've been curious or surprised at my person because of my order and how I went straight for the sashimi plus I was knowledgeable of my use of chopsticks. I'm not Asian. But they were great. Even started small talk with me. Asking if I'd ever been to Japan lol. I appreciated the attention and rapport. Plus they were cute hehehe. But it was innocent so thoroughly enjoyable. My second order was done a la carte nigiri. I ordered the ebi shrimp. The yellowtail. And eel aka unagi. She, my waitress, asked if I wanted wasabi underneath the fish or on the side. I said underneath because that's what im used to or believe is the traditional way. When I received my order everything looked great. I automatically knew the ebi was going to be just okay though it was just the tail minus the head, usually deep fried and served with. It was plated neatly in a small bowl which I thought was quite quaint. Everything tasted great though. The wasabi was explosive this time around. It opened me up. I was surprised. I don't know what the difference was but man I enjoyed it. My entire order was roughly 66$ which was kinda pricey but I really enjoyed myself. I will be back. I highly recommend this one. We visited for dinner and tried their Mango Sake & Salmon Poke Bowl! The food was delicious and well seasoned with the perfect spice to the salmon and rice! The veggies in the bowl were crunchy and fresh! Paired very well with the Mango Sake, and felt very fulfilled afterwards. The interior is super cozy and had so many interesting decorations to look at while eating! I loved how intimate the space felt even with it being spacious. Hanari Cafe has been open since November. we finally made it on dec 3. the word "teriyaki" was NOT on the outside sign. it was a good "sign" for me. it's a bit of a challenge to get to it from 196th st sw unless you're driving east, but it's well worth the effort. the menu is sushi/sashimi focused with a strong showing for ramen. the appetizers are Japanese-focused. there is hibachi and katsu entrees and yes, you can have teriyaki too. although there is a cold case for the fish, there is no sushi bar. miso soup: as expected. the soup at our 2nd visit was less salty than the on our 1st visit. edamame: came with our sashimi omakase. prefectly cooked. Sashimi Omakase (small) : at $20 it is a great value these days. 8 pcs with rice, edamame, and miso soup. the accompanying piece of tamagoyaki seemed to have been frozen or in the case for too long. we were puzzled there was no tuna on the plate or in the case but, better none than old fish. tonkotsu ramen: there were plenty of goodies on top of the noodles-spinach, charsu, naruto, bamboo shoots, and perfect 1/2 soft egg. i'm not a super fan of tonkotsu broth, but i'm very tempted to order this bowl full of goodies. spicy tantan ramen: as expected with a generous serving of the ground pork. i wish there was a seasoned egg in the bowl. i asked for medium spicy. some folks may prefer more spicy. ramen noodles: very good. not too soft, not too al dente. i like that they serve different types of noodles for different types of ramen. regular maki combo: $14. although the price is right, it's probably better suited to be an appetizer for 2 or more diners. salmon, tuna, and negihama. hibachi steak and chicken: generous servings of fried rice, and fried noodles. the steak pieces were tender and the chicken pieces were not dry. lunch menu: decent pricing for selected entrees and selected sushi/rolls. the interior decor is minimalist with a few art pieces on the wall. the floor is polished concrete, women's restroom is spotless. the greeting is welcoming and polite. the servers check in regularly but are unobtrusive. next visit will be visit #3: tempura udon and more sushi. highly recommended. read more

Noticed this restaurant opened up a few months ago and finally decided to try it out for the first time. The place is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. It's decorated with Japanese aesthetic in a clean space with lots of tables. The restaurant offers an assortment of items such as sushi, ramen, and hibachi without the performance. It's just stir fried in the kitchen, so don't expect anything like Benihana. The staff was friendly and helpful. They gave us a complimentary small salad which was very nice of them. It was pretty good. I ordered the agedashi tofu to start with and it was quite different from what I'm used to. The crisp on it was a lot lighter kind of like tempura. The sauce for it was alright, but not very memorable unfortunately. I ordered their Deluxe 12 piece sushi nigiri set. It took quite a while to come out. My friend got his ramen and finished it before I even got my sushi. I take it they only had one cook or something cause it's odd to me that it would take that long. The sushi was nicely plated though. Honestly would prefer having the sushi served out to me faster over a pretty plate. But definitely would like both if possible. I could tell there was a lot of care with each nigiri piece. Some pieces were seared, some were sauced, and some were garnished. I was really just expecting them to be dressed with nikiri sauce, but they were definitely trying to focus on presentation more than taste I feel like. I did not like what they did with the Tamago. Caramelizing the top and adding Japanese mayo on top felt a bit much. I was not expecting a crunch on that piece. The other pieces were okay. Some were pretty plain on flavoring, but some others were decent. Hard to mess up the salmon and the negitoro. Those were solid pieces. I definitely would like to go back and try their ramen and sushi burrito next. Those seem like good lunch options for me personally. I rarely see any new places open up around here, so this was very refreshing to try out. I'd be happy to come back despite some of the negatives I've mentioned since they're still new. Mango Tango sushi, I have to say... this is the best sushi roll I have had ever since I moved here 13 years ago. The mango was soft and sweet, where do they get them? The tuna was soft and buttery. We have had a couple of other rolls there, and although they were not our thing, they were not bad. The Takoyaki was delicious, crunchy, yet creamy. Nice delicate flavor. The cream puffs were delicious, although very tiny. Don't expect them to be a dessert for more than 2. We have gone back 2x just to get the roll, and I expect it will be more in the near future. The price is not cheap, however, though I suppose the prices of everything are rising :-( read more

I used to work right next-door to here and I would go over to this Chinese restaurant and order so many good things. They were absolutely wonderful. My friend move back to China with her mother and her husband and there are new owners there they say the food is just the same, but it does not taste just the same Last time I went they were more expensive and they were not like the old owners. They said it was the same recipe but it's not they are still good and I would recommend them but they're just not the same as my friends restaurant. I'm still gonna give them five stars and I would still recommend them to other people. They are very clean and sufficient and they seem like they have it together. I just wish my friend would come back from China because she and her mother could cook like a storm. read more

I can't say for certain that Hanari Cafe is the worst sushi that I've had, but it's certainly in the running. Tl;dr - If you told me my sushi was prepared at the Fred Meyer down the road, I could've been talked into believing you. We showed up about an hour before close and it was pretty slow. Not a lot of people. I made eye contact with the sushi chef upon entry. He made no physical acknowledgment of my existence, just looked past me as though I weren't even there. He probably was shocked to see me there, because he definitely didn't hear me with his AirPods in. We were instructed to sit anywhere by the hostess, which was exciting because there were about a dozen empty tables. We both ordered sushi combos. Mistake. And two hand rolls. The hand rolls was okay. It was tuna cut into a few strips wrapped in Nori. There were no garnishes or sauces. Pretty mild. I've ordered a lot of sushi, nigiri, sashimi, etc. and I've never been served imitation crab on nigiri. At $30+ I would expect to get 12 pieces of real fish, not imitation crab and watery tamago, but you know what. I was locked in. Honestly, all of the fish except the salmon, had a bite to them. It wasn't the smooth, buttery textures I'm accustomed too. There was a bite to most of the pieces, like it was previously frozen or just not great quality - it's not going to make you sick, but just went super fresh or high quality. Aside from the food, which was bad. Again, won't make you sick, but I would never suggest anyone try this for sushi. There's about a half-dozen other places within 5/10 minutes that are much better. The atmosphere was just... different (?) there was music coming from a single source that I couldn't see. So there wasn't a lot of music/noise throughout the restaurant, so you could pretty much hear everyone's conversations because the ambient noise just wasn't there. Strange experience. The waitresses/servers were nice. Sushi chef is still probably staring off into the ether. When I left, I gave him a nod (to say goodbye) and he and his AirPods just were in another space/time that wasn't where I was. No acknowledgement. I don't want to yuck someone's yum, but I won't be back. read more

I found this place while browsing around Yelp. I decided to give it a shot since it was on the way home. I ordered the char siu pork don and the crab Rangoon for take out. While waiting, the lady at the register offered me some water or tea, which was nice. Got my order and went home. Upon opening my orders, the crab Rangoon did not come with any sweet and sour sauce. But it was good. The pork bowl was delicious but definitely needed more sauce. I will reserve giving it a lower rating because I didn't order the sushi which I believe is what they are more known for! read more

We visited on a Sunday with a large party of 10, with reservations made in advance. Upon arrival, we were met with a bright, clean interior with plenty of seating (that eventually filled up quickly.) Our table was already set with menus and waters, which added a nice touch. They have a very extensive menu ranging from sushi/sashimi, rolls, ramen, teppanyaki, etc. which helps when planning for a larger group with dietary preferences. The prices were reasonable and portions just a tad bit smaller than average. They seem to excel in rolls and sushi/sashimi, whereas their ramen and teppanyaki were average. Most notable was their Sunrise Salmon, which was highly recommended by the server. Their Salmon and Tuna Combo Platter were nice, and had a good proportion of fish to rice. Meanwhile, I do NOT recommend the Agedashi Tofu as it was bland (no flavor, no salt, nothing) the first time it came around. The flour that coated the tofu was also not cooked - although they were accommodating in sending it back to the kitchen to remake, but it was still not good. The service was great - and they were prompt in taking our orders for a large party. What we did notice though was because there was a small sushi prepping area, we weren't able to get our sushi orders at the same time - and some people got their food after others finished eating. It's expected given their kitchen space limitations, but may be something to consider if you're bringing a larger party in. My guess is you probably wouldn't have as much of an issue if just ordering hot foods (as those arrived pretty quickly.) read more

This cute little hole in the wall opened up about 3 weeks ago and I have gone twice since then. First time I got the miso soup and Las Vegas roll. Together it was under $20 and great portion and quality. I'll be honest that although I love sushi, I do often get tired of the same flavor and usually go to belt sushi for that reason. I considered getting some of their sampler plates that they offer. However this roll sounded so good, I decided to go for it. Zero regrets. Hands down my favorite sushi roll I've ever tried. Not over breaded like a lot of other baked/tempura rolls. Incredible. Miso was also great! (They also brought us tea and a house salad, which either came with the meal or was on the house, unsure). Second time I brought my folks and got the bad boy roll. The house salad was brought again and tea offered. This roll was my second favorite roll I've tried. Las Vegas was my favorite, but honestly if I hadn't have tried Las Vegas this also would have been hands down my favorite roll. My mom's roll was coming out a tad late, so they offered us some spicy pepper poppers with salmon and cream cheese (incredible!) and some fried crab bites (again, incredible service and incredible food). When her roll did come out, she was again, blown away by the taste of everything served to us. Would highly recommend for the service, taste, price, portions, and look of the food. When we walked in we were the only diners (two other tables came in while waiting for food) We ordered salmon poke, pork katsu donburi, ramen, salmon teriyaki and tuna maki ($99 before tip) No drinks just water. I've had the salmon teriyaki. I had better elsewhere. The sauce was too heavy and it was served with steamed veggies that didn't have any flavor to it. The restaurant decor is interesting.
