We had to stop using our gas fireplace due to the smell of gas when we tried to use it. We did without it all Winter! Others indicated that it would need to be replaced costing between $10,000 and $13,000. We then called Ed's Woodshed. Jim came out to assess the problem. He did find that there was a part in the unit that was emitting gas BUT that he would be able to get the part to fix it! Two other parts also needed to be replaced as well...total cost well under $1,000! I am so happy to have a working fireplace again! Jim was GREAT! I highly recommend Jim and Ed's Woodshed! Our gas fireplace stopped lighting a year ago. We were told we needed to replace at a cost of $3500-$5000. Put off for a year and called Ed's Woodshed. Explained what we were told to Jim, the owner - he fixed the fireplace in about 20 minutes and for under $200. To say he is fair and honest is a huge understatement! At the behest of a radio testimonial, I called Piccadilly Chimney/Ed's Woodshed for a consult. I have a wood burning fireplace that I haven't used in the 22 years I've lived here and probably hasn't seen use since the 70's. I was eager to get the inspection, find out what was needed, and to schedule repairs before Christmas, so I didn't have to continue watching a log fire on Netflix! The employee came out and gave a thorough chimney inspection. Their camera system was great. I got a wonderful idea of what was needed. That's where the good experience ended. I asked for a email quote, and after numerous calls, emails, and web site requests, I have never heard back from them for the written quote or to schedule the work. After a couple more sales calls, I ended up using another service. I expect my fireplace will be running by next week. I am glad that SOMEONE actually wanted my money. read more

I scheduled a chimney cleaning for 2 wood burners in my new home, they were booked a month and a half out. I took off of work bc it was their only appt for a couple weeks and I wanted to make sure my house was safe. I had a missed call from them the day before my appt, but no message. I called the morning of my appt to confirm, and the guy said that my appt had been cancelled, someone was supposed to have called me. I'm beyond annoyed... I purchased my wood stove from the owner Jim back years ago, they treated me well back then. I'm not sure what happened to that company since then. I sent an email off hours hoping to get a reply when they opened, to this day I never got one. I later called both numbers during business hours. One went to voicemail which was full and couldn't leave a message. The other number asked for a code which obviously I wouldn't have. I called multiple times and finally got someone to pick up. The guy on the phone said he got my email and was waiting for the factory to get back to him..... doubtful. It's been a week, I found the part elsewhere, I ordered it, received it, installed it, and still haven't heard from Ed's woodshed! It's heating season and I burn every day, I'm glad to be back up and burning, no thanks to my local dealer. This is a testament to the beauty of the internet and unlimited nationwide calling, you can always find someone who wants your business. Called requesting service for pilot assembly replacement on gas stove I purchased there some years ago. They told me they would have to order the part thru their supplier rather than me ordering via Amazon or elsewhere. On subsequent phone call they told me part was unavailable even though I found it on Amazon and online elsewhere , and yet they still would have charged me for a service call. I made appointment elsewhere (FireTecLLC) and they said it is ok to get part myself (which I did) and they will gladly inspect fireplace and install it. read more

Horrible! They will answer your phone calls and emails until they install the fireplace. When it stops working in one year, they are impossible to reach. I have been waiting almost a month on "parts". When I call, they claim they have no record of coming to my house. Jim, the owner, no longer responds to any emails. Avoid at all cost. Contacted this company to clean two chimneys in my home (Oct 2018). Like a fool I paid them without inspecting their work and as it turns out, they never actually PERFORMED the work. It has been 4 months (currently Feb 2019) and they are unresponsive - not returning my phone calls and not responding to the BBB case I've filed against them. I now have two fireplaces that are unusable and I'll need to pay another sweep to perform the necessary work. It's incredible that this company can retain customers. Product options are good. Installation -- not good. First installed with a cord showing sticking out of the fireplace. Ridiculous. The next guy they sent was better. Follow up and service--poor. Rude on the phone and always seem overwhelmed and busy and they have to "see what they can do" or "check their schedule and call you back"--then they never call back. You have to call them again and then you get an attitude about how busy they are or people are taking time off. Don't recommend them... pricing is very high and customer service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Terrible experience. Sales Manager seemed disinterested when I was in the showroom ( I was the only customer). Never received a call back to measure. Stopped in to return the samples. Asked why I never got a return call. He looked at me like.... Daaaaa? Never even offered an apology or a thank you for returning the samples. His explanation was I must have fell thru the cracks. We have used them a couple of times, and both were great experiences. The first time was to inspect a gas fireplace in the house we just moved into. The service guy really knew what he was talking about, and even went so far as to replace the fake ember stuff that's in the fireplace, at no extra charge. The next time, they came out and did a repair. Nick didn't leave until everything was in perfect working order, and he even checked out another fireplace for me that was having some issues. read more

They kept my white carpets clean and let my living room perfectly clean. The fireplace looks fantastic!! I am not sure about installation ratings, but I can say that the repair service was great. We have an older stove and he knew exactly what the issue was: cleaned it out, put it back together and was done quick. I have had others look at the Vermont Castings stove and they tried to sell me replacement parts. All I needed was a minor service. The repair tech was trustworthy and professional and the office staff was friendly an helpful. Will definitely do business with them again. read more

I encouraged my sister to have a gas fireplace installed by this company. We visited them in August and they promised delivery in less than 2 weeks. They showed up the end of September, after my sister reminded them they promised to install it over a month ago and they had her deposit. They finally arrived and did shoddy work. The installer was the rudest person I have ever met. There is a large 2 inch gap around the trim of the fireplace and the mantel. You can see the pipes and outside of the firebox from the side of the fireplace! The owner was by twice and agreed it was not done correctly. UNfortunately my sister paid in full! Big mistake. It is now almost December and nothing has been done to fix it. The blower we purchased as part of the firebox has never functioned. No satisfaction from multiple calls to the store. I regret having taken her to this place You would be better off to go to a big box store and hire a handy man to install it. Ed' Woodshed is awful. We are probably going to have to go to small claims court. read more
