Let me tell you about Jennifer Lopez. No, not Jenny from the Block.. Jenny from Massachusetts! I've lived in Orlando for about 9 years now and have had some awesome experiences at some salons and some not so awesome experiences... So, I was going through a little bit of a funk and was between salons. My hair has always been blonde and a few months ago I started dying it purple. After two months I was tired of it and needed a change. After waiting another month while waiting for the purple to fade, as all blondes know, my not so blonde roots kept growing. So, here we are with 3 month grown in roots and my hair not looking so hot. As someone who is incredibly picky with their hair, I was worried about finding the right place to go to. I decided to come here to Yelp and find a new salon that could hopefully save this disaster on my head. After reading all of the great reviews, I found The Red Scarlet Salon. Situated right in the middle of Thornton Park, for everyone already wondering - YES, they have parking! The minute I walked into the salon I was greeted by happy, smiling faces. Definitely something that you sadly don't experience many places nowadays. Jennifer was one of those smiling faces and took me back right away. I explained to her my current hair situation and showed her photos of what I was wanting. From start to finish, Jennifer was so incredibly welcoming and sweet. I'm one of those people that is always worried about making small talk and she immediately made me feel at ease. Side note: this salon is beautiful!! Everything is immaculate and clean and you are immediately offered a beverage upon walking in (yes ladies, there's wine!). Jennifer also told me that Thursdays are quiet days, which was awesome so, definitely book that day if you'd like a more quiet atmosphere. Now, in all honesty - I haven't left a salon in years saying to myself, "I love my hair." There's always one or two little things that I would change or do differently next time, but not this time. My hair came out exactly as the photo that I had initially showed Jennifer (when does that ever happen!?). I left a few hours ago and I'm still staring in the mirror. I was happily surprised with the overall charges for my services. For how beautiful the salon is and how wonderful Jennifer is, I was definitely expecting it to be much higher! But to end this very long review, yes this salon is BOMB - yes, Jennifer is amazing and YES you should check them out if you're looking for a subtle change, a drastic change or even just a pedicure (yes, they do those too!) I went from bleached out disgusting blonde that looked fried to a beautiful flawless brunette with ashy tones! I'm so impressed. I came home and my parents raved about my hair!!! I am in love! Everyone was friendly, the atmosphere was laid back, and the salon itself was very clean and beautifully decorated. My stylist, Ben, was very friendly, easy to talk to and explain what haircut I wanted, and VERY good at what he does. He took his time. He was very precise and detail oriented. He was quiet. Which honestly, I loved because I came to relax while getting my hair done. I have three kids at home and I rarely get any quiet time. Ben didn't talk my ear off like a lot of stylists do. But I know he would have engaged in conversation if I had started one up. I came in with hair down to my butt and walked out with exactly what I asked for and had shown Ben in a picture-- a very sleek, A-line bob haircut that was perfect !! There was not a hair out of place or overlooked. He was very meticulous in cutting my hair precisely the way I requested. On my way home, I stopped at a store and two people did double takes and told me how "perfect" my hair was. Ben did an amazing job. The stylists and staff are welcoming and friendly. I don't usually write bad reviews, but this service was so bad, I feel I have no choice. I walked in for some foiled highlights in my short hair. Ben had me in the chair for an hour, and then kept me in the sink for 4 hours. When he finally let me get out of the shampoo chair, I was ALL OVER GRAY and cottony except for the back, which was a pale orange. They overcharged me $190 for this mess. (And when I didn't put a tip on the card, the girl made a comment so I handed over a $20.) The manager offered me to come back again for toner (which will not return my natural hair nor impart the paid for highlights) But as I was told Ben was their "color expert" I was afraid of what their non color expert would do to me.And I was afraid that my now very brittle and damaged hair would break. I do not trust them They have refused any amount of refund, which leads me to believe this is business as usual for them Stay away if how you look matters to you. This salon is fantastic! I've had a few hairstylists in my life hate on my hair because it's really thick and curly (I am half Puerto Rican after all!). The staff here is very diverse and are skilled in all types of hair textures and lengths. My stylist Jennifer Lopez was very friendly and bubbly- she thought my hair was glorious and took pictures of it afterward. She got me a cup of coffee which made the whole salon smell divine (and it tasted great too). Afterward she got me a couple glasses of red wine. The salon plays this soft key R&B music which was very relaxing, and the whole atmosphere has a great vibe. When my phone almost died from playing Candy Crush Jennifer got me an iPhone charger to use. I got the Balayage treatment that included free conditioning (they had a special going on), and my balayage turned out great. I wanted something subtle that just helped give my hair some dimension and Jennifer did exactly that. She even stayed after the salon closed to blow dry my hair. 5 stars for an amazing & friendly salon! Oh & get this.. they have their own private parking lot. Which means YOU don't have to spend countless hours looking for street parking in downtown Orlando. Their parking is so secure that when you check in, you have to check your car in as well. (Talk about safety measures!) I personally went in for lashes. (However, I'll be back to give their hair stylists a shot!) Jennifer, my lash lady, is amazing. Very kind and welcoming. She listens to what you want-- and then delivers. She did a fantastic job of educating me on the types of products I would need to maintain my hair afterwards as well.
